Even being English, given how the fans carried on at the last Euros and how increasingly insufferable the 'It's coming home' crowd are, if England never win a tournament in my lifetime that'll be fine by me (The ladies are obviously exempt from this). We'll do what we always do, sail through the group & then wilt at the first sign of an actual challenge
You only need to have seen the recent friendlies against Ukraine and Greece to know that this kind of group is probably the most dangerous for the current iteration of the German national team. Both Julian Nagelsmann and Ilkay Gündogan have stressed in today's press conference the amount of respect they have for the Scottish team in particular as a team that doesn't have to rely on a kick-and-run approach as they might have done in the past, but one that is good in possession, on the counter, in pressing, and especially through crosses. So they seem to know what they're in for, but it remains to be seen whether the hype that's been building ever since March is justified.

On the other hand Hungary Scotland and Switzerland are exactly the type of teams germany struggles with.
Teams which defend very well in a deep block and waiting for counter attacks are germanys nemesis.

Stumbled across this channel when looking for Euro predictions and I really liked the depth of knowledge you possess about football and not just 'popular national team will obviously win etc' that some of the others have done.
What I find absolutely crazy is how much hype there is around Poland who's really not great on the field (their qualifiers were shit, had to go through Nations' League playoffs to go there, and on penalties. Only three wins in a groupe where there was Moldova and Faroe Islands). Putting them as one of the best 25 teams in the world sounds wild to me.
Poland is rebuilding after the poor managerial choices in Michniewicz and Santos and we have some good young talents. Not saying we will not finish 4th, but you can just erase last 2-3 years and look at the NT in a new way.

Last 2-3 years was wasted for Poland and it's a pity, because Lewandowski is getting older and he hasn't delivered lately. Hard to see anyone stepping up in his spot sadly, but have some good potential in midfield and quality between the posts, so top 25 is not that exagarated.

Scotland have some genuine solid premier league players, the swiss get through to the knockouts every tournament and hungary have some amazing results over the last 2 years. No easy games in there for germany (although they'll walk through the scots)

I feel very confident by the fact that Switzerland is predicted to not go through again because that has been predicted by most predictions (wow 3x prediction) for the last few tournaments and they always went through. So it's kind of tradition.
Switzerland are excellent at the moment. This is probably the last complete major tournament for what has been an underspotlighted golden generation. As you said, the Swiss have a very solid team, but I think it's also sprinkled with the kind of lightning in a bottle talent that excels at major tournaments. Manuel Akanji is an absolute rock who would walk into most national sides, Xerdan Shaqiri, while surely at the end of his career, is still talismanic for Switzerland and is capable of moments of brilliance, while Breel Embolo, having had to push past major injuries, has the pace, power, and inteligence to hurt most defences. I think they'll win group A and be a major suprise in the rest of the tournament.
I hope we get OFC Nations Cup updates for how cut throat the competition is. After riots in New Caledonia forced their national team to withdraw, Vanuatu and Solomon islands must play in what is essentially a winner take all matchup to advance to the semifinal IN THE OPENING MATCH since the other team in the 3-team group is OFC giants New Zealand. Mental!
Not to mention that not only do players represent their national team in the South Pacific but they also have an entire village or even island behind them as there is a lot of community pride regionally for someone that reaches the national team level of success no matter how bad the team is. This tournament was built for Zealandism and it deserves the recognition!

I think Croatia will completely fumble it, they scraped by in the World Cup helped by a hopeless Belgium under Martinez, they have less quality now, even a Modric in a wheelchair isn't enough anymore I'm afraid. heck I wouldn't even be surprised if Albania would takee some points from them.

Not sure Portugal can be a dark-horse, for me they have the third best squad on paper. Not sure a 39 year old legend is helping their cause, but they have such a dynamic and talented attacking midfield they really could win it.
Maybe it's Premier League bias from me, but I think Portugal have more star players than Spain or Germany, based on seeing the starting 11s from those two teams in their games so far.
Portugal could well line up with Cancelo, Dalot, Dias, Palhinha, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, Diogo Jota, and some fella who plays in Saudi.
I look at qualifying stage, I make conclusions. That’s the analysis.

It's gonna be Lawrence Shankland starting up front for Scotland. A considerably better player than Dykes anyway and probably better on form going into the Euro's. Finished top scorer in Scotland won multiple individual awards- something that happens once in a blue moon if you don't play for either Celtic or Rangers.
I'm sorry Z, being a regular starter under Pep makes you a world-class player as well as being a starter in a C1 final. Switzerland has one of each in Akanji and Kobel.

P.S. Romania is going to get buttfucked by almost everyone in the group. They just drew Bulgaria and Lichtenstein, at home, and were unimpressive during both games. I expect them to have a lot of pressure due to those results and they don't really have the players to get them out of it. So GG and last place, probably 0 points.

This is probably the prediction that I agree the most on and shows how informed you are informed about international football.
However, you are really, really sleeping on Ukraine. They were super unlucky to not win against Italy in the last qualifying game that would have put them directly through in a group that England won, there were some questionable ref decisions. Honestly their playoffs were a bit shaky but they showed character and advanced after being behind for a long time in both games
They have the best goalscorer of the La Liga season in Dovbyk and another member of that wonderful Girona team in Tsygankov, Zinchenko plays in midfield so isn't a defensive liability, they have a lot of other quality PL-level players and great depth. I think they could pose problems even for Belgium, let alone Romania or Slovakia. Romania might have been better than Switzerland but as you said that group was super easy and it was more Switzerland fumbling. None of those teams would even come close to qualifying in the Ukraine group

i do not think Germany can win, due to two factors: 1) Neuer seems really wonky as a goalkeeper currently and 2) Ilkay Gündogan as captain. He has underperformed consistently in the national team and just isn't a leading figure. If you let Neuer play, then give him the captaincy back, or (even better) give it to Toni Kroos.
