After weeks (actually, over the last few years) of suffering from the worsening spring air pollution in Seoul, we FINALLY got an air purifier! It really has made a huge difference having one in our home-really should have gotten one sooner tbh -_- If anyone is curious, we got ours from this brand: www.winix.com
We’ve been wanting to do a banchan (side dish) making video with Kyuho’s mom for quite some time, and we were finally able to film with her this weekend :) She is a master at making this stuff! She flies through everything so quickly and can multitask like you wouldn’t believe. She has no set recipes, but just does everything by eye and to her taste. We had such a fun time learning how to make our favorite dishes! ^^

Kyuho's mom is goals -- Ph D student, master chef, and snappy dresser (loved that blazer with the dragonfly broach).
I love to see kyuho's mom study. Such a hardworking person and a lovely mom too.. 😊
Hey guys! Just to clarify, there are no set recipes/exact measurements for these side dishes that Kyuho's mom made. As you can see, she just measures by eye and by her own taste. You can customize these dishes to your own personal tastes as well when it comes to the seasonings :)
2hearts1seoul Do the sesame oil and the sesame seed taste something or its just for the look? Because kyuho's mom is using it a lot in the side dishes.
Sesame oil most definitely adds flavor. Not as sure about the seeds. I don't really seem to taste them when I eat them.
Sesame oil has a bold, savory flavor. Makes a huge difference in a dish, try it! If you don't feel like making banchan, you can also add sesame oil to things like fried rice or any kind of stir fry really.
The seeds add a slight bit of texture.
thats how the mom cooks, we always call 'agak-agak' i sometimes do that too when im making kimbap 😂😂

there was this korean guy that I liked and I never had the courage to ask him out because you rarely see international couples here and I wasn't sure if he would be up to it as well, but because I started watching you guys I saw that it's possible and even wonderful, and I finally have the courage to ask him out, wish me luck!

If you have plants inside the house, it really helps purified the atmosphere, as we all knows that plants or leaves absorbs carbon dioxides. But air purifier is nice as well. Kyuho's mom looks nice and kind. Sarah must be so lucky to have her family in Korea. Love watching your shows can't wait for the updates. Keep it up guys 😊 keep safe and healthy😘

colorectal adenocarcinoma? colon cancer. anytime you see that last word it is just a big word for cancer. I am a RN and also a cancer survivor. my dr was half Japanese and the first thing he did was change my diet! I had miso soup before each meal and no meat for 6 months to clean my system. Your mom will be able to help a lot of sick people with her cooking!! I love watching her prepare food and explain the ingredients, If she ever makes sweet red bean paste, I am stuck on the bean type lol and I am addicted to the flavor of it!!

Oh my, this was my favorite video of all time haha! So interesting to see your mom's cooking! Beautifully different from the type of food I am used to eat but I just wanted to try all of the side dishes! The lotus root was the one I got most curious about, I had never seen it!
Plus, how awesome that your mom studies on the same field of study as me haha :D. I'm a mere university student, though...

wow thanks guys for the side dishes. I have been looking for easy ways to make korean side dishes I just made bean sprouts in the same way your mom made the spinach. Love watching your videos, wish I could go to there someday.
I really like your mother-in-law's dish side and thank you for introducing them. It's a shame that in Puerto Rico we do not have the facility to get the Korean ingredients. There are hardly 2 or 3 small Chinese stores with few items. All his subjects are very interesting.
