Things like the void are easy to engage in because of their simplicity. This gives them a simple advantage. And I actually appreciate a little conflict because it gives us something to fight for. But don't tell them that.

I find it extremely ironic that Rainbow Dash didn't lose a wink of sleep while the brony fandom sacrificed their own sleep and well-being to protect Dash from the villainous void.
I also find it somewhat ironic that the "black border" that was ment to be a mere "extra" became so big and important for the later "estability" and diplomacy with other factions [eventually being used to encode extra information in the form of cutiemarks].

Dude, you should consider being a history teacher... this was fantastic! A riveting story I never would have know about otherwise, and felt like an actual war documentary! (Only far more interesting and absurd) I always love it when you do different kinds of videos like this! Keep it up! /)

roxas4930 Brony here, just came to say I loved most of the Halo franchise, even though I haven't played anything past Halo 2 and a half hour of ODST. Safe to say a lot of the MLP community enjoys Halo as well!
I'm not a brony, but this is still pretty intense. All I can gather was that r/place was the original PUBG before PUBG. Also, 1:56 *N Y E H H E H H E H ! I T I S I T H E G R E A T P A P Y R U S*
Holy crap, I have heard about this whole project, but I had NO IDEA it was so massive and well organized. I absolutely love social experminets like this one, so thank you for bringing it to my attention. Also, the presentation of this video was perfect. And, as a Runescape fan, I was so happy to see a DC box in the top left corner :D
I tried to imagine a motivational speech for the bronies before the beggining of this war, and that's what I imagine: "Boys and girls... Man, womans and non-binaries... Today is not just any day. Today, we can fight for what we believe. They think we are crazy. Mad. Stupid. Today, it's time for us to show that we are better than they think. It's time to show everything we learned. To be kind, even if it mean to look like we're not. Because kindness is not weakness. To be generous, even if the world is not. Because generosity doesn't mean being naive. To be loyal, even if it mean to abandon your dreams. Because sometimes, being loyal mean to say "Thanks, but no thanks". To spread laughter, even if you have to accept to see someone else replace you. Because joy is more important than egoism. To be honest, even if you have to minus one's trust in himself. Because if you don't, he may never be able to stand whitout a lie. To always believe in friendship. Because a true friend is more worthy than all the power in the world. And that's why we won't lose. Because we won't win by crushing others. We are not some stupids adults who watch a stupid show for little girl. We are Generosity. Honesty. Laughter. Kindness. Loyalty. And we carry within us the most powerful magic of all. We are Pegasisters. We are Bronies. And we know two things: Friendship is Magic... And history will remember us!"
Even better. Germany and France flag formed, then Germany attacked France, France gave up the territory and fled north, a rainbow bridge flew across the collision and the EU was formed :D
If there was a SCP drawing somewhere i would have helped over there, but if not i would have just become part of the void and helped destroy the bronies.
Manly Advice It's a red herring. Instead of referring to the modern Easter it was referencing the Christian Easter, which was when Jesus rose on the third day since his execution. r/Place ended on the third day of its creation.
I was part of the void. We fought hard and we tried and tried yet we failed as others built. It was a hard and good battle. Especially Dashie. Respect for all you.
THE FAKE PIE you completely missed the point of the Void ahaha. As I see it, it was used for destruction, yes, but it also bringed a fresh canvas so that new factions could emerge
I always find it crazy when something this big happens on the internet and it makes the internet seem like it's own world, like a whole planet with all these connected peoples and groups, and it's own historical events. I have yet to be a part of any such events though.
i was actually a greek /r/place soldier, the invasion by turkey was completely different in real life though, they started vandalizing the flag with red with us already knowing who it was, we were well cordinated which is why we were the ones who had them to send a sort of peace treaty.
I love how melodramatic you've made this. And hearing that Halo and MLP were "allies" and nearly faced "war" was a fist pump moment for me. My two favorite franchises.
This was so cool to listen to. I implore you to make more videos like these, just talking about Brony history. I enjoyed this video very much and reminded me that this community could be one of the most amazing ones out there when it comes to certain things. It's very inspiring to hear and see the valiant efforts the bronies made to ensure Dashie got a good night's sleep, and protected her soundly as the storm raged around her.
This is something that makes me respect the hell out of bronies. They could tried to expand or cave but you guy's dug in deep. This one of the documentary's I could actually recommend to people
i was part of the tiny tardis faction it was great as lots of people kept vandalising it but we always pulled through until the blue shield.. RIP all my bros and bro-ettes :)
Well. Day one is not even up yet, and we aren't performing very well. Our beloved Dashie was sliced in half by Ukraine, and Dashie slowly crumbled from there. Derpy was going strong until a Twitch streamer organized a mass griefing resulting in her disappearance. I'm afraid to say I was affected enough by this slow demise of Dashie, but it ultimately led to me saying things I didn't mean and being banned from Manechat. While I am isolated from what ideas we have in the days to come, I'll try my hardest to protect what is left of our art.
Best brony history i've ever seen dedicated to defend for many days to come and this should've been in top 10 facts about the brony fandom. I really enjoyed this one and you make a great narration too littleshyfim Have a great day to you littleshyfim👏👏👍🎊
You really NEED to do more of these.! 😋 Helps keep track of what's going on with the fandom. Also, low-key love the black glow effect you added to the void's presence. Makes it a lot more threatening! 🤣
Let me make a correction: The Sans Faction was actually just part of a larger faction, Undertale. (This is visible by Papyrus, Flowey, and a Red Soul) Usually once anything Undertale shows up Sans follows quickly and is essentially the control tower of the Undertale Faction.
This was an awesome surprise from you LittleshyFiM! I wasn't expecting anything from you other than the usual uploads (Choose your votes, choose your votes aftermath and every start of every month a new Everything Wrong With episode). I never knew something like this occurred and is jarring to see that some fan communities stepped hand in hand with us fans of MLP:FiM. It goes to show that no matter our differences in culture, that not all the world is out to get each other completely. Through bonding, comradery, respect and better understanding. This event showcases that aspect to a whole. Great job on the narrating LittleshyFiM and again, great surprise from you!
while the void was a neat concept, i have to wonder if that rainbow faction actually did the most damage. It easily covers about 1/4th of the screen 9:09
@@darthsithlord3718 no, as mentioned in the video, the tiny tardis had an alliance with the bronies, so the bronies bots were keeping tardis safe. That's why the brony image is a perfect rectangle and not branching out into other territory, the void no longer had control there. The flaw of the void was they were trying to cover the entire screen and their spread out bots weren't able to keep up with the faction's super focused-in-one-spot bots
the rainbow one let ALL other factions to go over them also it was called rainbow road and rainbow road core in the hearts one it had a few lines of rainbow hearts probably because both teams were nice and put some of their art work inside with permission
there were atleast 4 "official" brony art pieces and we also helped quite a few other comunities with their art and there also was atleast one "unoffical" brony art piece (by official i mean the biggest group of bronies working together)
I'm not a brony myself, but this is considered a grand milestone for ALL communities and the internet as a whole. It really shows that an entire Earth's worth of history can be summarized in 3 days on the internet, with decisions like "enemy/ally" or "fight/surrender" being really prevalent both in this subreddit and human nature. It's like history repeating itself in one little page.
They fought hard to preserve the image that brought them through the tough times and that put smiles on their faces and how the different fandom's got together to fight the void
I have no idea how Reddit works, so this was fascinating. And your narration actually had me concerned Dashie wasn't going to make it. Nice work to everyone that was involved.
This just shot back some reminiscent memories. I was originally a soldier for The Void, but by the 2nd day, ended up deserting The Void to protect Rainbow Dash.
When they release the sequel to this, I already know Asmongold and xqc are gonna be the main *antagonists. lol. Keep up the great work everypony. Make Love, not war. From this we will gain new allies and harness new friendships.
Soldier in the /r/place war checking in! This was an awesome event, and if it came down to it I would have slogged it out for weeks. /r/place also changed my life immeasurably. Good work everypony who also fought alongside me to defend our right to poni! [](/rdsalute) [](/dashheart)
I was one of the veterans of r/place. I lead the void's attacks, and i had quite a fun time. I did not agree with the attacks on bronies, but the void was mostly people from /pol/ and other boards. There was a replacement for r/place and void was wiped from it by the owner and many bots. We are now just a shitposting gaming server, but hey it was fun none-theless. Edit: So i went back to watch this video again, 3 months later, and realized you can hear my voice in the recording! At 0:42 ~ish the person doing the countdown is me! Jesus i sounded like a pussy back then. I also was in charge of some diplomatic authority, and i was the main negotiator between the void and r/dwarffortress considering i liked both, i actually managed to save dwarf fortress, and we had gained an ally in that if we helped defend dwarffortress from r/rainbowroad and other attackers, they would help us in our efforts. Edit 2: If you want, i can elaborate on some of the attacking formations of how the void worked. As littleshy said, our main form of attacking was by tendrilling out, and building cores. It was frowned upon to start a core from some random part of the map that the void was not connected to. However we had more than just a few cores. Most of them were jokes when people were starting to lose hope, like "homer core" in which we transformed one of homer simpson's eyeballs into a void, it was quickly destroyed. We also tried to take over the command prompt in the top left of the map, that was shut down after a while. Eventually however after people began losing moral, some left the discord server (one killed himself in voice chat, rest in peace my man.) but, all who stayed, deprived themselves from sleep and all, just to defend the core in it's final moments. I guess i got a little off track there, but anyways, back onto how we actually attacked, whilst i was in charge. We would all get in voice chat, and most would just spam their mics, but i would announce after around 5 minutes, that we are going to prepare for an attack. Then i would state a month. "If you were born in january, go", wait a couple of seconds, "february, go" etc. This spawned the meme of when i was so sleep deprived i said "TUESDAY, GO", and the chat went into a mishmash of spam, headache inducing noise, and of course laughter. As for channels in the old void discord, we had #general, #warplans, #diplomacy, #memes and #propoganda, as well as 5~ish voice chats and channels for our groups to focus on such as defense, attack, etc. In the end, the void was a fun experiment, and i'm proud to have taken part in it. God damn it i sound like a faggot
I had no idea this happened. But its fascinating. Just the whole concept, and even more so that it worked out like this. The Internet is a really messy place, I didn't expect such amazing efforts in structuring and organizing something that basically started as a free-for-all Battle Royale. Not just the Ponies, EVERYTHING on this canvas is a sign of many, MANY people working together, and I am amazed it kept balance until the very end. It's particularly interesting to see that the void was continuously fought back every time it surfaced, I was sure something as simple and strongheaded would easily make a significant destructive impact on the whole thing. But at the end, it just ended up being this great mosaic of people, fandoms and whole cultures working together, helping another and overall probably having a better relationship than our real-life countries. I really can't express just how amazing it is seeing all of these things come together. Really.
I watched my squad die in the Second Battle of the Blue Corner. The trenches were covered in cold, blue blood. I won’t ever get those images out of my head.
So, did a little reasarch to find out exactly how long Dashie lasted using the longest time lapse of /r/place I could find. /r/place lasted 72 hours. Dashie appeared 6 hrs and 51 mins (approximately) after /r/place was underway. Lasting until the end, she lasted an astounding 65 hours and 9 minutes. The only major non-nationalistic factions in play that would make it until the end were Rainbow Road, Green Lattice, and Blue Corner. (I mean, Blue Corner technically survived. Barely.) Her only neighbor at the end to have been on the board before her was Papyrus. This is something the video didn't say, but Dashie was among the first factions to form that was neither nationalistic nor color based. And she actually makes it to the end. Damn...
Moon Blaze was not even informed of this :( Would have valiantly fought for the Brony Nation. And after your fact checks, it just shows the unity and friendliness of Bronies not only to each other, but others like "Tiny TARDIS" and such :3
This was amazing!!! I had no clue that this kind of thing was even going on! I think what amazes me most about it was just how instantly organized things became because of it! Reminds me a lot of Twitch plays pokémon! The power of the internet and a shared idea! I wouldn't mind seeing more content like this!
Wow, that was pretty awesome. I had no idea this event was even going on, having nothing to do with Reddit. Wonder why eqd never posted about that (or did they). I really liked that video, would love to see more such stuff, reviews of / insights into cool events such as this.
I was entirely unaware of /r/place while it was happening, and wish I could have served. But having the history of Dashie displayed like this, I'm so proud of the brony community for it's conduct. We not only left our own mark but helped others leave theirs as well. Even helping Tiny TARDIS restore itself over our own expansion plans. I even saw a comment in there from a guy who was still assisting /r/halo at the end. Even after their serious discussion on invading our territory we held no grudge. This is what Harmony is all about, and we showed it well through our actions. I'm so proud.
It is also a great example of what to do when your good neighborghs are invaded and their buildings destroyed: You take the place back and make it your own, then allow them to rebuild if they can sustain themselves.
cd5ssmffan Hey. Listen. I'm gonna need you to go find someone who means something to you and give them a hug. If they're resistant, let them know you're short on love and tolerance and need a little help. Don't be afraid, you'll find your deficiency is filled quickly.
This video actually got me interested in ponies again back in 2017 I think. Used to watch in middle/ high school, but videos like this got me back into it. Thank you brony youtubers, God Bless the fans.
Epic factions, through-the-night defense, shaky alliences, eminent betrayal, constant threat of destruction, suspense, teamwork and fun.... Sounds like my mind of deal! Wish I could have helped dashie survive
I saw the outer waves of this back then. "Join the void", "Protect Dashie", but never tagged along. Dang, such an battle missed. Well fought, people; well fought. And great video Littleshy, I wouldn't mind if you did more of these ... "internet/brony history" kind of videos.
Well. r/place 2 has ended, and I have to say, this may be one of the greatest underdog stories in history. Despite our losses on day 1 and me ultimately getting banned from Manechat, I'm happy to say that I defended pony artwork till the very end. We were able to take on anyone that tried to stop us, and we had tons of our artwork stretched across the canvas. While it was sad to see the event go yet again, I'm very happy we've made our mark yet again, and it was nice to see the fandom unite together again. Some who left the fandom came back to help us in our struggles, and overall, this was more than just a bunch of pixels. It was an experience to live this out with everybody. As Sharon Carter said: "Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move... it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree... look them in the eye and say no, you move."

roxas4930 Brony here, just came to say I loved most of the Halo franchise, even though I haven't played anything past Halo 2 and a half hour of ODST. Safe to say a lot of the MLP community enjoys Halo as well!
You Slumber, Cucumber I know that I'm just saying in the situation of r/place they'd lose
I'm not a brony, but this is still pretty intense. All I can gather was that r/place was the original PUBG before PUBG.
Also, 1:56 *N Y E H H E H H E H ! I T I S I T H E G R E A T P A P Y R U S*

I was a tiny tardis warrior.

so tiny...
I was with r/Halo
I helped fix the “PONIES” sign so many times 😂😂
Holy crap, I have heard about this whole project, but I had NO IDEA it was so massive and well organized. I absolutely love social experminets like this one, so thank you for bringing it to my attention. Also, the presentation of this video was perfect.
And, as a Runescape fan, I was so happy to see a DC box in the top left corner :D
somehow i never heard about r/place please do more brony history this was awesome
I tried to imagine a motivational speech for the bronies before the beggining of this war, and that's what I imagine:
"Boys and girls...
And we know two things:
Friendship is Magic... And history will remember us!"
Nice speech
This deserves an Oscar
Dude if this was a real war speech everyone would be so determened that the enemy side would join us.
Brony warcries*
bro...thats deep O-O
Ok, this is awesome, it's like watching a documentary for actual war, and this is the coolest war I've ever seen
I still love that after a war of the french and german flag, a EU flag was made to celebrate their union.
Even better. Germany and France flag formed, then Germany attacked France, France gave up the territory and fled north, a rainbow bridge flew across the collision and the EU was formed :D
I also negotiated with some of the german flag people to help let megumin's staff overlap with the right side.
Gonna be honest if I new this existed at the time I would have helped the void
profile picture checks out
Same, I mean, they are so organized they can work as a goddamn PLAGUE
You wouldn't have helped you would be the VOID...
If there was a SCP drawing somewhere i would have helped over there, but if not i would have just become part of the void and helped destroy the bronies.
I was a member of the void
Personally don’t get the whole Brony thing at all but this was a very well made video and kept me interested
DNK what do you mean?
(Btw awesome man:)
It’s a odd thing for grown men to like lol
@@funtimessometimes8748 By that logic, that means an adult watching a cartoon is very odd
I didn’t even know this event was a thing! Great video!!!
I think the rabbit might mean the true meaning of Christian Easter which is Jesus would rise in the third day.
Good point, somehow I missed that.
What does a rabbit have to do with Jesus or Christianity?
Oooh, that makes sense
Manly Advice It's a red herring. Instead of referring to the modern Easter it was referencing the Christian Easter, which was when Jesus rose on the third day since his execution. r/Place ended on the third day of its creation.
Ooooohh
This should be a book.
I was part of the void. We fought hard and we tried and tried yet we failed as others built. It was a hard and good battle. Especially Dashie. Respect for all you.
Why is the void and the void prism separated?
Jäger WFA The void attacked in different directions, this was used to spread quickly.
THE FAKE PIE you completely missed the point of the Void ahaha. As I see it, it was used for destruction, yes, but it also bringed a fresh canvas so that new factions could emerge
THE FAKE PIE hey pass me some of that salt for my french fries lol
Justin Y?!
I always find it crazy when something this big happens on the internet and it makes the internet seem like it's own world, like a whole planet with all these connected peoples and groups, and it's own historical events. I have yet to be a part of any such events though.
I think it's because unlike the real world, the little things don't matter
i was actually a greek /r/place soldier, the invasion by turkey was completely different in real life though, they started vandalizing the flag with red with us already knowing who it was, we were well cordinated which is why we were the ones who had them to send a sort of peace treaty.
I love how melodramatic you've made this.
And hearing that Halo and MLP were "allies" and nearly faced "war" was a fist pump moment for me. My two favorite franchises.
Spritz pony version of the hentia profile,
I love it

This was so cool to listen to. I implore you to make more videos like these, just talking about Brony history. I enjoyed this video very much and reminded me that this community could be one of the most amazing ones out there when it comes to certain things. It's very inspiring to hear and see the valiant efforts the bronies made to ensure Dashie got a good night's sleep, and protected her soundly as the storm raged around her.
This is something that makes me respect the hell out of bronies. They could tried to expand or cave but you guy's dug in deep. This one of the documentary's I could actually recommend to people
i was part of the tiny tardis faction
it was great as lots of people kept vandalising it but we always pulled through
until the blue shield..
RIP all my bros and bro-ettes :)
This year it's just full blown harassment. By twitch streamers
A fascinating piece of Internet history that I had never known about until now. Thank you for it.
Holy moly the last pixel war was like a border skirmish compared with what we've got going on right now. This is insane XD
Holy shit, didn't know this community was still so strong going. Sweet.
It's nice to see where still going strong!
Scyrina! Huge fan! (Sorry I had to)
the only reason the void never touched RD was due to it being 4chan
those guys *_clops_* to ponies, so why ruin it?
Me Neither!
I don’t really like brownies 😕
Well, this aged poorly, but I guess that’s good for every pony fan. Cause ponies had a huge presence on the board at the end!
Best brony history i've ever seen dedicated to defend for many days to come and this should've been in top 10 facts about the brony fandom.
I really enjoyed this one and you make a great narration too littleshyfim
Have a great day to you littleshyfim👏👏👍🎊
doctor hunter Eat my shit,Halo rules
Night Shade your fandom was allied with the Brony fandom during the war now your not allies?
That gut feeling when you didn't hear anything about this and missed out on your own fandom.
Can't wake up.
I finally watched this after being recommended for a few months and I can say that I wasn’t disappointed
Jamm lol same I had doubts about clicking but was satisfied
It blows my mind that this is just one story out of the literal hundreds or possible thousands on r/Place
oh shit the next r/place video is going to be 30 min or something 💀
Can't wait for a 2022 version of this, The experience in these is wild😭😭
What is this, Internet Historian:Brony Edition?
I dig it
Historians: I can't still wait for Despacito 2.
while the void was a neat concept, i have to wonder if that rainbow faction actually did the most damage. It easily covers about 1/4th of the screen 9:09
Soko Moko well they were generous enough to give back the tinytartus space. They could of easily just get rid of them and not give them back space
Definitely not a 1/4th. It's not that big.
the rainbow one let ALL other factions to go over them also it was called rainbow road and rainbow road core in the hearts one it had a few lines of rainbow hearts probably because both teams were nice and put some of their art work inside with permission
There are so many different brony art pieces this year. I counted at least four, but there could be more.
there were atleast 4 "official" brony art pieces and we also helped quite a few other comunities with their art and there also was atleast one "unoffical" brony art piece (by official i mean the biggest group of bronies working together)
This is awesome wouldn't mind seeing you do more pony fandom history videos in this style bravo
Anybody coming back to this after 2022 place?
yup. Rewaching this after a long time
I'm not a brony myself, but this is considered a grand milestone for ALL communities and the internet as a whole.
That's deep 😮
:-)
Guess you're gonna have to make a sequel
We are evil
We are nothing
We are...
THE VOID!
You do realize you called yourself nothing, right?
Yes I am nothing..that’s why I was involved with a lot of the void projects we even had a project to attack from the top bottom and sides.

this is legitimately so pure and amazing. i love seeing fandoms work together like this, especially ones that i'm in.
I did enjoy this video immensly. If this is like a "history of fandom" thing, I'd gladly tune in for more.
Sweet Celestia, this sounds like the Small Pixel Skirmish compared with what we just went through.

2017 Dash was heId strong
omg, did streamers decide we shouId go ten times over.
I have no idea how Reddit works, so this was fascinating. And your narration actually had me concerned Dashie wasn't going to make it. Nice work to everyone that was involved.
Can’t wait for the long awaited sequel that is sure to have more drama and excitement
This just shot back some reminiscent memories. I was originally a soldier for The Void, but by the 2nd day, ended up deserting The Void to protect Rainbow Dash.
What a dumb decision
Magicu void pony.
NO GOD PLEASE NO
that was stupid

Nice work soldier! You deserve a medal, along with the others who served along side you

You are a true Equestrian hero. (also i hope finals went well :))
Virgin
Really.
amen
Now we wait for the sequel
I was proud to serve in the pixel war.

Thank you for your service
It was an exciting time. I was there clicking to the last second.
FlyingSixtySix Hahahaha!Eat my shit Halo Rules
I watched my squad die in the Second Battle of the Blue Corner. The trenches were covered in cold, blue blood. I won’t ever get those images out of my head.
We all lost good men that day. Never forget.
Nevertheless, a massive victory was achieved over the bronies that day.
And after your fact checks, it just shows the unity and friendliness of Bronies not only to each other, but others like "Tiny TARDIS" and such :3
That's true patriotism right there 🏳🌈
It's very appropriate too, since she embodies loyalty.
Dashie: *gets damaged*
Sans: you’re gonna have a B A D T I M E
This was amazing!!! I had no clue that this kind of thing was even going on! I think what amazes me most about it was just how instantly organized things became because of it! Reminds me a lot of Twitch plays pokémon! The power of the internet and a shared idea! I wouldn't mind seeing more content like this!
Wow, that was pretty awesome. I had no idea this event was even going on, having nothing to do with Reddit. Wonder why eqd never posted about that (or did they).
I really liked that video, would love to see more such stuff, reviews of / insights into cool events such as this.
Thanks! I was really surprised that EQD never even mentioned it; at least not that I saw.
Not that I know of either. If you feel like it, do you suppose you could drop an announcement video when something like that happens, again?
I've once made dashie in Minecraft
Moon Blaze I always win Halo forever

is there a problem?
This video actually got me interested in ponies again back in 2017 I think.
Used to watch in middle/ high school, but videos like this got me back into it. Thank you brony youtubers, God Bless the fans.
That was beautiful, Littleshy.
You should make more videos like this. XD
