- Kmart Closing - Walnutport, PA. This is one of 4 remaining Kmart stores in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. After August 2020, this will be closed and only 2 will remain until Fast Eddie Lampert strikes again in killing the entire company. Time is running out for these stores. I'm grateful that I was able to visit this store to share with you all to keep the memory of this place alive long after it's gone. Hope you enjoy.

It’s crazy, my dad used to manage this store back in the 90’s and early 2000’s. He left once Eddie took over. But I have so many fond memories of going to this Kmart as a kid and seeing my dad. It was so sad to see this close.
That's awesome!! I am willing to bet that the red, tan and grey shopping carts are from the Kmart centers that closed recently in Easton PA, Allentown PA, and Bethlehem PA.!! The Bethlehem PA store had a cafeteria where my wife's grandmother worked, and it also had a service center too. It's just off route 22 @ the rt. 191 exit.
Kmart used to be the store I went to most as a kid (yes it was the 2000s) because I used to live within walking distance of one. It wasn't a very good one but I have fond memories of going there. Kmart was a big part of my childhood and I will miss it when the inevitable happens. Nothing lasts forever...
I remember when I was a kid begging my parents for a dime to ride the horse in front of our K Mart store.
A bit further south in the Lehigh Valley the South Mountain K-Mart in Allentown
(now defunct) also had a walk up pharmacy.

I mentioned this sometime ago a few months after the stores are gone another company can come in and restart the brand or if we're lucky the company that owns Kmart Australia will come in restart it.
That was one of the best stocked, cleanest, nicest K’s even the last few years. You can tell they still care as things are straightened up daily during the closure.
Soon we will be saying, "Kmart a legon and historical place department store chain gone but not forgotten!"

I used to shop at mine frequently until it closed. I liked their clothes line and a lot of other things. Shame to see them almost gone.
That location was one of the Super Kmart prototypes. It was opened as a regular Kmart with room to expand into a super center. Not sure if that's why the Super Kmart carts were out back.
Yah because there was only 3 superkmarts that was ever opened in Pennsylvania Uniontown which is now closed, Robinson township Pennsylvania which was my closest one which is now closed, And the one in Hanover Uniontown converted to superkmart in 2015 which was the last one in the state the one in Hanover closed in 2004, and the one in Robinson township is now Demolished and it closed in July 2013,
Looks like for being an updated store, it's a BEAUTY! We did actually have a Kmart in Colorado for sure with a Sears Auto Center. It happens it was one that when from Kmart to Sears Essentials and back! Also, one other Kmart in Colorado had red Kmart carts just like that, and those are cool as heck! // Lol just gotta say 15:16 Kid with a Twenty One Pilots shirt.

My nearest Kmart in Mantua, NJ also had that update with the orange, brown and tan (as well as green) color scheme before it closed. Such a shame that it was expensive.

Yep. I’ve been to this Kmart. Sad that this one is closing, it was really clean and relatively large. I remember finding many of the Kmart exclusive Hot Wheels here on my trip

This was a always a popular store, even up to the very end.. Spent plenty of saturday mornings as a child with my grandmother in this store. It was sad to see it go.

The entrance to this store reminds me of the former Honesdale, PA Kmart, which closed in April of 2018.
My local BIG Kmart here in Mission Tx had the color patterns on the wall

I used to go to this Kmart. It was the most profitable store in the Lehigh Valley. It was always clean. The isles weren't always that wide, they always had displays down the middle. This store is going to be missed by us locals.

There was a Kmart in Louisville, KY on Dixie Hwy that had a Sears Auto Center. We lost the last of our Kmarts in Kentucky last year.
That Kmart had everything
Our Knart in Peoria IL had the Walk-Up Pharmacy as well and it was the Silver/Gray Kmart Concepts Store.
The "Little Caesar's" corner hasn't had any eatery there in a LONG time. It's been "seasonal" stuff for many consecutive years. Were those creepy coin-up rides still out by the main entrance? Oh, and I call it "Swarm Theory" when you try to have a place to yourself, and as soon as you arrive, so do a million other people. Ugh!

Hey Wallie! I love your videos. I suggest if you are ever near NYC/Long Island, you should visit the Kmart in the Hamptons. It looks very nice and has a unique design. Hope you can see it one day!
Wow, this was one of the nicest Kmarts I think I've really ever seen. It's clean and updated. Too bad more of them weren't like this. I mean I loved Kmart and really miss it but they should've put a lot more love into their stores, maybe people would've shopped there a bit more. But of course Fast Eddie didn't help matters at all.

We lost our Kmarts a few years ago here in Idaho, the last Kmart I was in was the one in Shaler Township.
That is one beautiful Kmart. I do like color scheme in this location. That open view in the garden shop is almost like Warren Super K. Nothing beats the Super K fitting room in Warren. Only thing this store is missing is Kristen's cart.

I have not seen a Kmart in a long time. All of the Kmarts where I live in Louisiana closed in 2010. The old super Kmart store is now a super Target.
Mine in Sidney NY had the pharmacy and I've been to the Sears Auto center, good prices too. got many of tires from there.

I really regret not visiting one of the Kmarts in my area before they all closed one by one. They just weren't in the parts of town I'd normally venture out to.
My local Super Kmart store had a Sears Auto Center, up until the store closed in 2012...
Live 10 mins from there. Was much closer than driving to Whitehall or Allentown. So sad to see it close. For thise who don't know it is a pretty rural area with few box type stores close by without having to drive ( for most of us) 20-30 mins.

Update to my previous comment. I didn't realize that this was one of the longer stores (which mine was) There's a lot of features that were alike. Even the direction of the store is alike like mine. A tiny features are different but either way here comes another store ending it's run which is unfortunate. Rip to Walnutport Kmart.

The Sears Hometown in Yankton SD closed today. I was in there a few weeks ago to look around at their deals & the only cool thing I found was they had 2 of the smaller double basket kmart carts in there that came from the yankton kmart that closed back in 2016!

I think this store was supposed to be expanded to a Super K, which is why you see the Super K cart.

This store in a way looks and reminds me of mine. Has a Sears Auto Center, has the mid 2000's remodel, clean, looks almost the same. It's a shame this place here is closing. Never have I felt this desperate feeling of watching a kmart video like this until losing all the ones that were once near me. Oh I miss those days where you were able to walk in these places anytime you wanted to and now if you wanted to go to one, you have to drive for hours just to find one (if you're lucky :( ) Rip kmart

And my Bloomingdale Kmart, they started to liquidate without anyone knowing, it was not even in news articles, just a little add in one of our local papers.
If they do make a comeback with a different company? I hope they would not do what Amazon and walmart been treading. I hope it more customer friendly that treats their employees right.

The Walnutport Kmart is owned by Seratage and I heard that is why It's closing. This is the only one left besides Kingston. You should check out Willow Street Kmart in PA. It is near Lancaster. That store seemed pretty well stocked last time I was there about month ago and also kind of different front with BIG K logo.

While you were down in the Poconos at this Kmart you should've stopped in Stroudsburg along Main Street and checked out the building where the J.J. Newberry's chain began. it even says that Stroudsburg was the birthplace of the chain right on the building.

No, unfortunately it was closed. They had signs stating they were temporarily closed. Could have been due to the virus. However, with it currently liquidating, I wonder if it will open at all now. I severely doubt it since the store closes in a month or so.
God, I will miss Kmart after it's gone forever, I already DO miss Kmart as Ohio doesn't have Kmart stores at all anymore as most of us know, and we're about to loose our last full-service Sears store. Eddie Lampert needs to be fired, I understand Kmart and Sears aren't doing so well, but, closing PROFITABLE locations? (example, the warren super kmart, that was very profitable) or just closing locations that actually make decent cash for the company? That is unacceptable. I also understand the operating costs and what not but most Kmart and Sears properties are owned by Eddies own fckn real-estate company.
i feel ya there. in washington state we lost our first k-marts around 2001 or 2002 ish on the first restructuring. then the first one of the sears take over was 2014 and now there isnt even one in the state. the last one closed up in april of this year sadly. one kmart location back around 2016 the manager said oh we arent going to close down and then a few months or so later gone. the first kmart of the sears takeover the building had no remanence of it being a kmart. now they want to tear the building down and build low income housing in its place.
Live in VT, and there used to be 2; one in Claremont, there I work @ WM, and also in West Lebanon, NH; The one in Claremont closed a few yrs ago and was taken over by Hobby Lobby; sources close to me tell me one in W. Let isn't far behind and possible Target will take it over

At first I thought why is this store closing the way the parking lot looks. Then I saw the signage inside which the people in the town must have found out the store was closing. Kmart left Store Closing sign up in my town which closed February 1st and those signs are about $300 on ebay. Really sad. I think Lampert could of been in it for retail for a while but found selling the real estate and leases were more profitable.

At the 10:05 mark when you guys are looking at the fixtures, along the wall you can see the red poles of the kiddie carts or like kmart likes to call them "shoppers in training" carts😂
There's also about 40-50 of the red shopping baskets hiding in the store *somewhere* that they'll probably end up dragging out and selling (unless they're going to be snooty and not sell anything 'branded')

I live 3 miles away. I Always called it “the Kmart that time forgot”. It was convenient though.
My Walmart is getting a new. Renovations. There are take out our the floors in keeping the Concrete floors from the White tile in there are moving everything in change the Signs In Painting the walls. I wondering if they going to change the Sign outside of the store I can’t wait to see see what it looks like

Walnutport is in eastern PA near Wilkes-Barre. Its a few hours away.
