i have also watched some of those videos the first time I discovered IU, i don't listened to any other kpop idol, unless its my IU, though I'm a drama addict. I'm happy for you, you discovered IU
I'm starting to become an addict of IU's acting as well, we're watching Hotel Del Luna over on Patreon right now and I'm absolutely falling in love, thanks for the warm welcome!
Green neon heart with (purple) note in the center is Uaena logo that IU designed by herself. Deep purple is her fav color which was well known among Korean,k pop fan ,not just uaena. After your IU deep drive you’ll find out the reason.
Let's goooo! Now we finally starting the dive for real. Some notes on the shows featured on the guides: - IU TV is like her official vlogging series like Dreamcatcher's Note. - IU Palette is her own music show like Lee Mujin's Service with Korean idols and artists as guests. - Heroes is her first variety show. It has 40 episodes lmaooo - Infinite Challenge is a long time variety show like Running Man where she appeared as guests for 7 episodes along with other korean idols and artists including G-dragon and Taeyang. They are all competing for a musical festival which they wrote and produced their own songs to perform.
Actually, those are some good guide's choices!! Thank you. Abt IU's success, there are 2 points I want to add : 1.its hard to understand or to explain how success iu is, at least in S.Korea's entertainment industry. To put it simple, in 2010-2012 she had like NewJeans popularity level right now. BUT, she still very popular now, in 2024 as well 😅😅 This is very rare in k-entertainment. Stars would rise and fall in like 4-6 years. Also, she has so many evergreen songs in s.korea pop culture. Friday, Through The Night, Meaning of You, Merry Xmas in Advance, Good Day, and You and I, for example. 2.her popularity is also bcs of the rise and fall of TV era. You see, 2009 - 2015'ish, the era when IU really gain momentum, was still "TV era", when people flock to their favourite programs on TV. When ppl in s.korea can be united in 1-2 trends. Now, the era is gone, and internet destroys TV. Its very hard rn to replicate what IU has done, bcs ppl only care abt their fave groups, their fave platform. TV program, music shows in TV are just decorations. But IU, her history in TV, that times are still in s.korea ppl mind. They never forget.
She is still suffering from malicious people. She was attacked for singing with a few songs that she suspected were plagiarism that she did not compose. The problem is the composers of the songs and she was not involved in them. She is still suffering from people who hate her since her debut.😢😢
Only knew a few groups before starting the channel and we really go deep on each group so I only know a few still! I’d heard of her and some covers by other groups though!
IU is super amazing, humble and sweet but I like that she's also straighforward and practical. She even scolds her fans if they get too rowdy or irresponsible. It's like having your own little sister scold you. So cute. ♥
one of iu's old managers is a big fan of red velvet and there is a video where iu's manager meets red velvet members thanks to iu, fyi iu and yerri are friends, iu once helped yerri to make music, and they support each other on social media and in person...
+1 for watching 'My Mister' at some point in the future. Out of the 30 or so Kdramas I've watched, it's definitely in my top 5 favorites. Pretty much every Kdrama has got the tears forming at multiple points in the show for me, but 'My Mister' was the only one so far that had me straight up ugly sobbing out loud, so definitely an extra tissue warning on that show!
Her singing skills is very good, ultimate national sister. And her acting is good too, especially (My Mister). She also write and composer her own song. Talented soloist. And her visual is pretty. She will talk whatever she wants and very honest with her answer that make people laugh. Her parents went bankrupt and she and her brother need to stay with her grandparents and she went through hardship. Mamamoo members went through hardship too before RBW takes them in. I believe through hardship will make them great and amazing
Apart from these guides IU is mother of pak(perfectly all killed). This concept started after her hit song nagging. Today she has 22 paks. And yes she has many collaborations with other artists. Most of my favourite collaboration of IU are in early IU era. During my mister IU was actually suffering the same situation as the character. Sge was depressed and hospitalized. She even asked the director to allow her to withdrew her name from series as she was stuck in a controversy to avoid bad impact on fellow artists. But the director had faith in her and then it became one of the best k drama. There are many other things but will tell you later bit by bit.
Welcome Sylver and thanks for spreading the word in the western hemisphere. IU can only be described as the Fairy Queen, she can sing compose, act and dance, She's also and incredible human been with rough upbringing after starting middle school family went broke and she ended up living with her grandma( whom she loves to pieces) and younger brother in a single room vermin infected, when even this was not possible she ended up living with relatives who were not to fond of her singing dreams. IU herself has spoken of the effect poverty had in her. So over 70 self composed songs over 180 total discography, 321 award nominations an over 130 wins. This killing voice, though it has brilliant songs it's just a glimpse. Even so this video is the most watched from that series approaching now 65M. Live singing is a most in your deep dive, somehow she can bring as good as studio sound while injecting more emotion. I could go on and on as most UAENAS would. I'll only let you with this link of how she can inspire people by her own example in helping the less privileged ua-cam.com/video/ElSmUH1meTM/v-deo.html
Thanks for the warm welcome and all of the context! I’ve been loving getting to know IU so far and Live music is 100% going to be part of our journey! Uaena have all been absolutely lovely so far and I’m excited to get deeper into this rabbit hole!
Looks like that one was actually a suggestion from a viewer during our Anniversary variety suggestions! so I've already reacted to it, it's the last video in that one starting around 1:30:00ish I may cut it out and repost it as part of the dive though to make it easier to find

I'd have to agree, that's wild that she got rejected so many times, I have to imagine all 20 of those agencies she auditioned with must be kicking themselves so hard right now
Video Title : "The reason why IU's smile sometimes looks sad" Since the video was released in 2023, I found the content to be quite substantial. If information about IU's struggle with Patulous Eustachian Tube affecting her singing could be added, it would make it even more comprehensive.
@@jiedragonhub I think this video is the best guide to understanding IU. It provides a detailed account of IU's experiences since her debut. After watching the video, I recalled why IU created such a sad and melancholic song like 'BAD DAY' during her trainee period (which was eventually included in her 2013 album 'Modern Times'). Additionally, the video skillfully edits IU's performance clips, making the explanation of the context even more fitting.
I am actually going backward with your IU deep dive, starting from ur newest ones, going randomly to older ones 😂 So, incase you still read comments for this vid, just wanna add some (fun) facts on IU's journey: - When she was a student she once was punished to sing in front of other students. Turns out she loves to sing onstage, and she made it her dream to become a singer. - Her agency was kinda struggling financially when she joined. So when she became explosively successful (after Good Day), her agency was becoming rich and they were extremely grateful to her, to the point when she teased them that she wanted to move away to bigger agency they didnt even dare to hold her back bcs they dont want to burden her anymore. - The agency that finally accepted her, they did it bcos during the audition, IU sang a song by Gummy (a soloist singer), who happened to be there by chance. Gummy was just visiting her friend who was judging IU's audition. Hearing IU's voice, Gummy likes it and asked the judge to give IU a chance to be a trainee. - When IU's contract was due for renewal, she refused a huge upfront contract money from the agency, instead she asked for all her team (dancers, stylist, etc) to be signed permanently by the agency and given a big payrise.
She actually debuted at 15 years old international age in 2008.

'The Producers' was a 2016 'mocumentary' TV drama about a TV network with IU playing 'Cindy' the nasty idol. A favorite series of mine.
