But then, the Terrans aren't really the point of this story. The point of this story that bad policy leads to bad results, and the story could have worked just as well if the Federation was a human nation that had attacked a more advanced alien ship.
Pro tip: when you show up with peaceful intent, you don't open with jamming communications in the area. That's a clear declaration that hostilities have already begun, and all communication will be conducted via weapons from that point. There's no other reasonable interpretation.
Communication officer: Sir we're being jammed. 1st Officer: WEAPONS AND SHIELDS JUST WENT OFFLINE FOR NO REASON! GENERAL! WHAT DO WE DO!? General: We die.
Food for thought. 12 ships after that period of time, finding that specific station? Unlikely. That was likely a wide scale attack on multiple military targets. Font forget what happened to the Khwarazmain Empire
Ah yes the classic "we agressively violate the sovereignty of any unidentified species we encounter" procedure. I can't imagine that would cause any first contact issues.
Their only option is to immediately surrender. With their comms off-world jammed the humans have already won. The best that this general can hope for is a chance to explain that the whole thing was a misunderstanding, that any terrans killed in the course of the initial contact were not intentional deaths and subsequently they had also lost lives in the same engagement.
Hubris. We are powerful therefore we can do whatever the hell we want. Until a bigger badder mofo comes along. That lesson on humility could be a painful one.
By my guess, what they attacked was most likely an advanced recon team. In a small, lightly armed frigate. 10 personnel who's mandate it to scout distant territories ahead of the main force. These are also most likely, Special Forces, with various specializations needed for deep reconnaissance. Special Forces are not usually heavily armed, but rather rely on stealth and the element of surprise and tactical awareness. They're a scalpel, whereas regular Army are a hammer. Hence how they took a ship of 500. The ships that entered the xeno's space, was probably a carrier group. A supercarrier with attached air wing, destroyers, cruisers, submarines (or in scifi, stealth ships possibly) and a supply ship. In other words, the xenos are fucked.
Is this a story of how humans started a Galaxy-spanning war over a minor border skirmish incident with 1 to 6 casualties on the human side? We can smooth things over worse things here IRL D:
@@nemamiah7832 Seizing and boarding a military ship is an act of war by petty much all definitions. The aliens started this, we're finishing it, because if they did it once they might well do it again. And there's no indication the humans here are being genocidal either. The alliance moniker implies some level of restraint, I'd be more worried if they called themselves an Empire. Plus, there's no reason to spare even one person if you intend to kill everyone, they would have just let the captain stay missing like the rest of the ship and crew.
@@willparry530 It is not. If a vehicle crossed the border, it can and should be rightfully seized and personnel apprehended. Then you start the talks. Aliens weren't particularly smart about it either, but we don't start wars over such shit, unless we were looking for a reason to start one.
@@nemamiah7832 What border? The human ship was not in Federation space and even if they had been they had no way of knowing that. You do realize what 'unknown configuration' actually means, right? Does this sound like backstory fanfiction on the First Contact war from Mass Effect lore? I mean, if the aliens were specifically said to be tourians, that would fit perfectly. I mean, from what I've heard, those first few human space navy ships were able to fight the much larger and more advanced tourian fleets to a standstill before the Council stepped in and forced a ceasefire.
Well since they were able to decode and translate your ship's database I would make every attempt at parlay. Before the fleet arrives send your fastest ship out of there to advise the Federation of your situation and that you are attempting diplomacy. Lastly, contemplate the meaning of the phrase "woe to the conquered".
Comon misconception forward facing eyes aren't an exclusively predator feature eye direction is based on how dependent on sight for defence and how many directions you have to worry about things coming at you from.
No, not exclusively, but more commonly associated with Predators. Most primates have binocular vision, even though most are herbivores or some degree of omnivore. it is how ever a much more advantageous adaption for predators in my opinion, since having a wider field of vision would be more helpful for a prey species.
Yeah, forward facing eyes do show up in some non predatory species, but it is as far as I can tell primarily the domain of land based mammalian predators and avian species, though not sure how well it is tied to predatory behavior in birds. As far as mammals go, some of the exceptions to this eyes forward means predator, such as some species of bears, are part of omnivorous families with significant predation tendencies. Maybe monkeys and apes would be a good example of an exception, with predatory species in those families fairly limited afaik, humans and chimpanzees being the only ones that immediately come to my mind. Of course, examples of predators with non binocular vision are pretty common, especially once you start looking outside birds and land mammals.
@@spudgamer6049 I believe for most birds, binocular vision is more important for depth perception for flight than predation, which is also true for primates to a degree concerning depth perception needed for climbing through trees.

Also, if such a "tiny" ship (we dont have the sizes in an understable metric), is packed as a Ship half as big as your FLAGSHIP, you dont really have a military, do you? Pro tip: when you show up with peaceful intent, you don't open with jamming communications in the area. That's a clear declaration that hostilities have already begun, and all communication will be conducted via weapons from that point. There's no other reasonable interpretation.
You done goofed son.
Don’t fuck with our boats. We like our boats.
This was a great story, with amazing writing
"We aren't trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with us!"
"Broadcast a formal apology and offer to make amends on all channels."
Who knew GTAing a ship could cause a war
What you do, is broadcast on available frequencies, with a picture of the symbol you found: "We're sorry"
There's only one thing you can do abandon the station on as many ships as available and run
Ave Algorithm!
Is this a remaster? I know I’ve heard this one before.
Hubris. We are powerful therefore we can do whatever the hell we want. Until a bigger badder mofo comes along. That lesson on humility could be a painful one.
I hope there is a part 2
He didnt know the symbol but can read it 🤣
By my guess, what they attacked was most likely an advanced recon team.
Thank you for the reading
Captain they have us in a tracker beam
Captain:Good now I can tore them limb from tentacle
Is this a story of how humans started a Galaxy-spanning war over a minor border skirmish incident with 1 to 6 casualties on the human side? We can smooth things over worse things here IRL D:
To be fair I don't think they are after civilian targets, only military targets.
@@willparry530 Yeah, "press X to doubt". No evidence supports this while they *did* start a war over basically nothing diplomacy-wise
It means neither ship knew where the other came from.
But the fact is this was outside BOTH nations' borders. Seizure and search in _international_ territory is illegal.
Think of how terrifying this would have been for the human as well lol
Another good day of another hfy reading
Xeno scientist: Sr. the translator make a mistake.
Xeno general: explain yourself.
Xeno scientist: is not terran alliance… its the Terran Empire.
We’re number 1, we’re number 1.... oh shit!!!
I think a trained force could actually pull this off. Just look at what Red Cell did.
They better try for some diplomacy. cause humanity knows how to hold one hell of a grudge
I was hoping the symbol would be a flag with 13 red and white stripes and 50 stars surrounded by blue in the top left corner
"SIR, what do we do?" "Pray to your god. And prepare to die."
Comon misconception forward facing eyes aren't an exclusively predator feature eye direction is based on how dependent on sight for defence and how many directions you have to worry about things coming at you from.
I cant think of any execptions to the rule that does not have another powerful sense
@@determinedhelicopter2948 crocodiles, alligators, most sharks, orcas, just to name a few.
Not that it would really make any difference to the narrative but it could have said "Celar, Celens, Mortalis" that bunch of clowns would really mess someone up.
there needs to be a 2nd chapter video to this
"Mess around and find out"
the real Co2 percentage in the atmosphere is far less than 0.05%
Ohh nice the stories continued.
For a General, he isnt very clever.
The moment he recognized the Symbol, he should have send an all-Frequency message towards the Terrans Ships "We apologize. It was our Fault, we understand that. Please, let us talk before you do anything."
But wow. About 500 Crewmember, taken out by 5 Humans. Either you Guys are fragile as a cooked Noodle or you accidentily attacked a SpecOps Ship. Also, if such a "tiny" ship (we dont have the sizes in an understable metric), is packed as a Ship half as big as your FLAGSHIP, you dont really have a military, do you?
With 10 People on Board and so much firepower, it was probably a Scoutship. Knowing our Species, with 10 humans, it must have been the aquivalent of a dutch Caravan XD every Space utilized to the max, ready for a fun trip.
You have to know when to give up. When you realize that you have made a tactical error or a mistake in Confrontational Protocol, you should offer to politely surrender. You can always go in guns blazing if they ain't reasonable.;
This is alien the 8 passenger plot.
Interesting premise. I'd love to see what a good writer could do with it.
Ah yes the good ol
f around and find out
😂
Improvise.
Adapt.
Overcome.
For the Narrator
This could make a good horror film
As soon as it mentioned the atmospheric mix it confirmed it was humans. Earth ambient.
My guess for what the symbol was going to be was the S symbol school-agers scribble in their notebooks.
It would've been amusing, certainly... to me, anyway.
You disabled their ship and killed some of its crew no wonder they were going primal on you and fucking with your systems
They just need to identify that it was a mistake
Im not trapped in here woth you. You're trapped in here with me!!! 😅
