Nice fight scene at the opening credits! Amazing how none of the guys lose their caps during it.
What a movie! Absolutely stunning! Dialogues are second to none, acting is brilliant, the pair Wayne-Dietrich are just natural, filming is perfect etc etc If some directors are in need of inspiration they just need to copy paste this one, snd good actors we do have some don't say we don't, it's just they don't have the good directors...
She is so Vogue. And I mean the magazine. The magazine is her, inside out.

Was it ny imagination or did some on screen sparks fly between Wayne and Dietrich. She was just as perilous in real life as on film.
It was not your imagination! Marlene Dietrich was responsible for introducing Marion Michael Morrison soon to be known as John Wayne to director John Ford so that he starred first in The Big Trail(1929) and then Stagecoach(1936?). He became a HUGE star and also her lover for a period of time. She was an incredibly brave and intelligent person who survived all that life and love put her through until her death in the 1990s.

I never understood the big deal about her
She was gorgeous when she was young. One has to be young to get away with playful romantic comedy roles, otherwise one just looks silly. But it seems she was too old for her role in this film. I like her in "Judgement at Nurenberg," where she appeared as a mature, dignified and elegant widow opposite Spencer Tracy.
She is attractive, talented, and apparently, the only woman in the tavern.
