Putting info out there about the sport’s techniques, etiquette, values, and highlighting some of the flaws makes it more appealing and strengthens the future of fly fishing. The humor and humility you share in these videos keeps me going as someone who is new to fly fishing. Also, my sons love watching the videos of you fishing with the family and it inspires them (even at a young age) to get out in nature and have fun with it. I caught that too. I'm a transplant from the West. The new friends that I made here in Georgia constantly push me to fish the Soque for "trophy" fish. I don't have the heart to tell them that pay-per-fish places may be fun at times, but they are nothing to brag about.

Seen a few of your videos. I have to admit they aren't always content I enjoy, but this...this video gained a subscriber. Now I have to make my wife watch it so she can understand my distain for the San Juan River and the atmosphere/attitude areas like that promote.
Also - the steward and voice comment...this is something that every angler needs to bring along with them every time we fish. Like, always always. Lots of new folks on the water - gear/bait/fly - trying to be outside and endure the pandemic. Being able to share the passion of the RESOURCE beyond catching, that is the value. If I could like this a 1001 times I would. You said what a lot of people want to say. I’m just as guilty as the next person for looking through social media and felling that jealousy creep in. But, it does me no good. I love that I can share my catches or the flies I’ve created with friends and family across the world. And if I’m lucky, sell a fly or two to help pay for this addiction. I think a lot of these “top” fly fishers forget that we are in one of the smallest percentages of the outdoor world.

Biggest point made... the people who over handle fish so they can get pictures. Please!!!! Wet your hands, no sunscreen, have a phone ready, take a picture and release the fish. I don't think newbies fully understand how fragile trout are in the summer. I can't stand drifting over dead fish anymore... You are performing a good service.

My basic yardstick on who's "real" is if they're doing their own filming/shots. If they clearly have a film crew then you know sketch sh*t is going down because they're paying those folks and video/film has to come out of that trip. Huge & others freely admit when they have a crap day - like all of us do!
One of the worst things about Instagram is that the pressure to get that amazing shot usually means keeping the fish out of the water too long. Be quick with the pictures. Keep em wet and all that jazz. 👍
I don't follow any fishing people on IG so didn't know this was a thing. FB on the other hand has been useful in getting to know some local and regional fishing gangsters, one of which asked to go fishing with me because of a niche fishery for unicorns I'm pretty good at. That was awesome. YT has been plus and minus. I've grown tired of videos of people just catching fish. I want my time spent to result in me learning something so I can get better. So SM on balance has been good for my fishing and increasing my network of quality people and fishermen. But it's all in how you use it.
Thank you...I am sick of all of the posers out there. I once came across a guy with a fly rod & 3 (count them, 3) GoPro cameras attached all different areas of his body to get every angle of his fishing. I wish I had had a camera with me to take a picture of that. I fish to fish.
The only ppl I follow is the local fly shop. And yes I know they promote their guide service but hey they are a mom and pop shop. Plus I fish the same waters, so knowing size and type of fish exist in those waters is a win.

I put a Simms sticker on my truck and only got caught in like 4 trees the least time I went out. You know nothing.
