- Daisuke Kugo was born to a family of skilled fire magic users. As the eldest son, he was to become the next clan head.
Then came his thirteenth birthday and his spirit awakening ceremony. He failed, getting badly burned in the process.
Rejected by the spirits, Daisuke is quickly banished to a Swiss boarding school.
After graduation, Daisuke wonders Europe, collecting magical items and knowledge. Though the fire spirits rejected him, he is highly skilled in other forms of magic.
And so he’s recruited by the Circle of Sorcery, a group of wizards dedicated to securing dangerous magic so that it won’t be used for evil ends.
Daisuke’s current mission takes him back to Japan where he’ll have to deal with enemy wizards, dangerous demons, and worst of all his family if he wanted to stop the release of a powerful Elder Demon.
For the sake of the world, he’d better succeed.

I actually was worried that our guy was going to get betrayed at the end right before the prison was put in the vault but I guess I was being paranoid
This sounds exactly like an anime. It's about a kid who got kicked out of his clan. Because he can't use fire magic. But he made a contact with the wind emperor does that ring any bells to you

Love the story as always the only problem is who while in the middle of a chase. Stops and waits to talk to the cops every time a body drops
Already listent to it once on my 3 listen atm love. the book but feel like the story moves forward to fast would like to learn more about Daisuke.

Ordered this as an eBook enjoyed reading it and am glad to see you post the audiobook. But I am concerned about how similar the main character and several other details are to a manga/anime called Kaze No Stigma.
Good eye. Kazuma was the inspiration for Daisuke, though there are plenty of differences in both the characters and their adventures. Not sure why you'd be concerned.
@@JamesEWisherbooks some people like to cry copy write for the least little similarities and I'd hate that to happen to you. On an up note I can't wait for book 2 to drop.
It happens a lot. Most people have no idea how copyright actually works, which is surprising given the number of Superman and Batman clones running around. I had one person claiming I stole one of my titles, as if only one person can use a given title. It just comes with posting stuff on the internet. Gald you enjoyed the story.
Great short story. Which book reseller gets you the highest commission for your work?
A get about the same commission at all the retailers, but if I can get a bunch of sales on Amazon, that will activate their recommendation engine which can lead to more sales, so if you'd like to pick up a copy there I'd appreciate it.

This story feels like it was influenced by an anime I like called kaze no stigma look it up I'm sure you will agree
Kazuma inspired Daisuke, but the story is very different and gets more different as the series progresses.
Are we gonna get more of Otto Shanks Story i mean harper Story only took place a decade or so after the last short story we got with Otto Shank how close is Otto From Becoming an arcane lord@JamesEWisherbooks

Omg, you couldn’t be more wrong! I have never read a book by James that is even remotely boring, he is a genius writer. We are all different and have different tastes, so I guess you may find it boring, but a huge number of us find it fascinating.

This world feels alive, fun, and rather ominous!
