  • NATO's Association of Tiger Squadrons was established in 1961 to promote solidarity between NATO air forces. Each year, it holds a "Tiger Meet" to give member nations an opportunity to train together in simulated battle over the skies of Europe. As well as being opportunities for NATO air forces to share ideas and experiences, the meets are also public relations exercises and participating squadrons often decorate their aircraft with elaborate tiger-striped paint schemes.
    The annual meet took place for the first time ever in Poland in 2018. The Bavarian Tigers once again took part, and again this year designed a real eye-catcher. The "Ghost Tiger" was awarded the trophy for best tiger design of this year's meet.
    Today's example is from Herpa. It is 1/72nd scale and made of diecast with plastic accessories. The model is of the Eurofighter EF-2000 Typhoon S from the Luftwaffe's TaktLwG 74 "Bavarian Tigers", 31+00 Ghost Tiger, while at Poznan-Krzeslny AB, in Poland during the NATO Tiger Meet of 2018. It is made very well with great detail and that ghost tiger scheme really pops!!!

    That thing looks way better in hand than I thought it would. A beauty! Strangely, the Typhoon even looks good without it's canards imo. Love this jet. Would love to get the 1/48 one by Corgie I think? My Navy buddy & I just found a diecast aircraft shop about 30 minutes from from where we live & it's awesome. Might not have to order online anymore. Dangerous though

      Yeah man its not a bad build. Haha I'm sure it would handle like crap without the canards though!! Yeah Corgi do a couple 1/48 jets, they do the Harrier aswell, I do have the 1:48 Phantom which I will eventually do the video on,haha I have had that for over 6 months still new in the box unopened,haha. Man you guys are going to end up just as broke as me,haha and a house full of diecast!!!...to be honest its still easier ordering online,haha...you can buy models even on the toilet doing a number 2 ,haha

    Love the new intro song! How would you compare this Herpa model to Hobbymaster and Corgi?

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  6 місяців тому

      I would say the HM and Corgi ones are finished slightly better, but these like the Witty Wings versions have some extra touches like, moving rudder and air brake. But also don't come with a stand so your pretty much wheels down only straight from the box. As always thank you for watching. Ha yeah the intro was a forced change, for some reason youtube are having issue with the 11 seconds of music I used from a band, after all this time. Funny how it happened just after we ticked over 2000 subscribers,haha

      If you compare EF-2000, then Corgi is the worst. HM and Witty Wings\Jc Wings\Herpa are very good models. I recommended taking HM, because it has the least problem. Although I prefer Herpa myself. He is amazing to me.
      By the way, if we talk about Corgi as a company, most of them are very good models. Especially bombers. They are amazing. But their fighters are the worst of all other manufacturers. And especially post-war.

    An impressive looking model.
    Yes, Herpa uses molds from many other manufacturers. And they use all the old Witty Wings molds too. As for the stand, for this model: For this model, you can use a stand from HM, after cutting it a little. Like the MiG-29 model, which is made from the WW form.
    And also: Herpa EF-2000, I like it better than the HM model. When I put them next to each other, Herpa looks nicer, more realistic. But that's my opinion, because I know others like HM more 😂

      Yes I really liked the livery on this one. Ah I assumed they may use other makers molds, I knew someone with more knowledge than me will confirm it for me,haha!! Yes I noticed it has a slit under neath which I guess you could modify a stand to fit into, maybe like the HM Prowler ones too, that fit through the central fuselage fuel tank. You opinions are always welcomes, and everyone has different ones so never fear about having different ones here. A lot of people will like HM just because its HM. The one annoying thing with this mold is that nose wheel gear door. I just wish they could have the slit in the wheel well for the nose wheel so when its in flight you don't see the slit for the nose wheel door. It such an easy thing they could have done. Thanks as always for dropping past and taking the time to comment, its always appreciated mate. 🙂👍

      @@heavymetaldiecast Yes, that slit annoys me too. As for HM, they really do have a good models, and the EF-2000 is one of their best. Well, but I'm always annoyed by their very deep panel lines.

      @@slizevicius Yes I guess HM are sort of the bench mark, hopefully JC Wings are upping their game by the looks of their newer offerings. I really wish Dragon would consider jumping back to military aviation!!!

      @@heavymetaldiecast Indeed, I agree with you. By the way, another very strong manufacturer is now emerging. Panzerkampf. I think you have seen their new MH-60? A wonderful model. Therefore, I think that HM should improve the quality of their models, because their competitors are starting to produce much better models. I will mention HM's new Mirage-III. One of my favorite fighters. And HM it "damaged", especially the cockpit. Even Altaya and Falcon Models make better cockpits. I know HM could make it new, but will it? Similarly, I doubt that they will make anti-radar "teeth" on the Rafale. Without which the model looks ugly. And Panzerkampf will soon put the new Mirage-III into production. And it is already better than HM production... 😋

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  6 місяців тому

      @@slizevicius I think HM does sometimes start to rest on their previous releases and has not been as fussy as it used to be. Yes I've seen the Panzerkampf releases, and they do look good. I do have a couple, they do feel unusually light though, so I am not sure what metal they are using!! I do plan on getting some more Panzerkampf models, they can be a little expensive here but the details look really nice I do admit. Funny you mention Falcon Models, I just managed to pick up a Falcon Models F-1 Mirage, so that will be interesting to see it when I get to it,haha

    Your are not the first youtuber related to diecast modeling forced to use different music in their videos. This copyright thing is random, some do claim their rights and some don't. However, you are lucky because your videos use the music at the beginning and ending of your videos, so that is an easy fix.
    Nice video and comments. I don't like to much the scheme but i like the plane. Good luck with your new musical introduction and ending.

      Thanks yeah it was a surprise, that it was no issue with the intro for over a year and a bit, then as soon as I hit 2000 subscribers the next lot of videos i went to upload the intro music was flagged,haha. The music at the end of my videos is fine as I use the UA-cam library and royalty free music where i make sure I credit the creator in my descriptions. Thnaks for checking out the video, it is a very bright livery for sure and wont be everyones tatse. But its always good to break up the sea of 50 shades of grey that the modern aircraft use so much these days,haha. Thanks again for watching and commenting.👍
