To stitch over 2 on evenweave it helps to think of each stitch as a hashtag # and your needle and thread go through the 4 corner squares of the hashtag. I hope this helps some people
Helps me a whole lot. Thank you
Good video. Really helps me as I am new to cross stitch.
Kimberly, thanks for all the info on evenweave cloths. Took lots of notes. You did an amazing job explaining it all, so I have to say you could have been a teacher, too! Loved the video. Again, thanks to you and FQS.
I've been crosstitching for 40 yrs off an on, and I always learn so much from you, Kimberly. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO FOR THIS COMMUNITY ❤.
I love fat quarter store! They have everything I need for my cross stitch-
Another very informative video. Great job!
One of your most educational programs. I can’t thank you all enough! Wish this series of videos were out when I first started stitch in October 2021. You make it so easy for me to wrap my brain around all the info presented. 😘
Thank you for this video … I always wanted to know the difference in these fabrics … I watch your video and Running With Scissors stitching with Jane and Julie and when they show their work and tell the fabric they stitched on, it has been confusing but you really explained it well … thank you again …❤ Dena
I must say that these informational talks are really great! Having them be a shorter time length makes it much easier to find the item your interested in! Thanks Kimberly and Team!
I agree with shorter length, dedicated to a narrower topic range. Will make it super easy for creating playlists as we progress in our stitching capabilities. Thank you fat quarter shop.
I like anything Kimberly talks about. Always fun and informative. Thanks for all you do for us.
I hope on the next talk about Even weave can you actually show how to count up, down or sideways - on aida you just count the squares but with even weave I’m afraid of not counting right - can you show a simple pattern to demo
I haven’t found any floss tube videos that show this - you would be the first
Love these educational videos. Can you please do a video on different types of floss for us newer stitchers?
Hello Laurene! Yes, we will be doing a video for one of our Stitchy Talk livestreams!
I’m a visual learning. I would have liked to you stitch on 25 count evenweave. But I have learn so much from your tutorials.
Great education, your great at sharing information in an easy to understand way. I’m very much looking forward to your March episode on linens.
Great informational video. I so appreciate it when you cover specific topics in depth. Thank you.
Thank you Kimberly and team for this very informative and helpful video! I feel like I may step out of my comfort zone from Aida to a evenweave! Again I just love this video (all of your videos) so very informative! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much! Ill be listening to this a few times. So much good information. Margie\Tennessee
I am so happy that you actually took a weekend off to spend time with not only your immediate family but, your extended family too! You really need to do that once and awhile or you are going to get burnt out my friend!! XOXP
Suggestion to assist the person asking the difference between Aida and evenweave. Maybe show them side by side so someone can see what you mean between the multiple threads of aida and the single thread of evenweave/linen.
As always, great content and wonderful way to learn about our craft and how FQS supports it!
Thank you again FQS and Kimberly for a very informative Stitchy Talk. I ventured in to smaller 14 to 16 to 25 and I liked the softer fabric, so helpful to know which ones are softer and why!
Hi Susan, I have a couple questions. Do you stitch over two on 25 count? If not is it some what easy to see over one? I’m itching too venture from Adia.
Great segment today! The comparisons by count, brand and color were excellent. Thank you Kimberly and team!
Thank you so much!! You cleared up a lot of things for me!!
Thanks so much for this education. Because of it I may venture from Aida and try evenweave
This Stitchy Talk series on fabric is excellent! Thank you so much!
this was soooo helpful!! Thanks!
Thank you Kimberly and team! This was VERY helpful!

Thanks for the information!
Great info! This was super helpful Kimberly. Thanks so much.
Great video Kimberly!
This was so very helpful. Especially seeing the comparison in colors.
Very interesting, thanks for the explanation. 💜
Thank you for a wonderful, helpful resource! Wonderful video, chock full of great information, all in one place! ❤
Thank you for all this great info. Hope you are having some great family time.
So informative! I had to have my phone handy to add more fabrics to my cart 😊
Great informative video! Thanks so much! Great tip on using slightly larger needle to open the hole, less drag on thread. Judy
I’ve been stitching for years and did not know all this! Thank you for sharing this wealth of knowledge!!
Thank you for this talk, as a new stitcher this was very helpful! I look forward to the next one on linen.
This is the best explanations of materials thank you.
I SO agree - samples would be great!!
This was very interesting - thanks for the video. I agree Lugana is my favorite.
What a great floss tube Kimberly
Thank you for the review. I took screenshots of the colour layouts and will find them really useful. ⚘️
These are great resources. I always learn something or pick up a new tip.
Wow that was amazing information:) thanks for sharing, I have always wondered what the differences are in all the different brands.
Thank you
Very useful and detailed information. I can make better decisions and know what to expect when the cloth arrives. Thank you.
Thank you so much Kim, very useful information, maybe next time you can match the fabric with the thread more similar, hugs 😘
much appreciated.
I was excited to read somewhere this week that Zweigart is getting ready to release a 20-count Lugana! Woohoo!
Disappointed the live chat disappeared after the end. I like to go back and read the different conversations. Pat Sloan always leaves the live chat available. It’s nice for the ones that cannot keep up with the fast moving Conversations.
The live chat transcript is up now. Usually takes a few mins after the live feed ends for it to post.
Hello Brenda! UA-cam takes the live chat down and then restores it after they finish the checks.
@@FatQuarterShopFlossTube thanks for the reply. I never knew that.
Super informative video, thanks! I would like to know if Cloud is similar to white or antique white?
Great video. Very informative for me. Has FQS considered offering packages of the ‘top 5 best selling’ or Kimberly’s top 5 for us to purchase? I think it would be a great option for both aida and evenweave cloths.
Hi Kimberly. I have been stitching over 30 years and learned so much today! Are you keeping up with the big trial going on? Thanks for all you do.
I haven’t stitched on even weave yet but my chance is coming up soon with the SWTHW Seasons 🙂. I have stitched a Shepards Bush stocking on 18count natural linen though! I hope that was a little training.
I know you like stitching with Aida. How do you decide whether to use Aida or Even weave for a project? This video is so informative !!
Hello E! 90% of the time I use aida.If it has backstitches, half stitches or specialty stitches I will use evenweave
I wish I watched these before my most recent order. I was struggling to figure out which fabric is best. I guess I’ll have to get back online and order knowing what I want to try now. Edit: thanks for the great info.
Came in way late😂. Thank you for doing this. Took a lot of notes. Maybe when you do linen talk a little slower. There is so much information to write down. I will watch again. This was so interesting. Of course when I started cross stitch years ago I started with linen fabric😂😂😂. Those projects are all in storage. It will be interesting when I get them out someday to see what they look like. Of course they are UFO's. Stitching on Aida now. Anxious to try Lori Holt's now.
I use 14 count aida, monaco, 28 count lugana, 28 count evenweave. I have found those work best for me.
All those names! But it is making more sense to me now. I even took notes! Question, 14 count Icelandic Gray, what color would that be in Evenweave or Linen?
Hello Eveline! We carry Icelandic Gray 28 Count Linen 18" x 27" Cross Stitch Cloth
Anything with Lori Holt’s name on it is a guaranteed seller. Everyone wants to show off their Lori Holt “connection” to be in the”in crowd”.
Are your valentines behind you done on different color fabrics. The ones on the beads??
Hello Fran! No, they are all stitched on Pebble 25 Count Lugana Evenweave 18" x 27" Vintage Cross Stitch Cloth:
www.fatquartershop.com/pebble-25-count-lugana-evenweave-18-inch-27-inch-vintage-cross-stitch-cloth
Wow, did I need to watch this!! I thought evenweave was linen!!!
Learned so very much today! I will be referring to this video often. Again, put this info in a leaflet, or pdf download and I'll buy it!!
So if 28 ct is equal, in finish size, to 14 ct aida, would 25 ct finish slightly larger or smaller?
Hello Susan! It would finish slightly larger. We have a cross stitch calculator here that can help www.fatquartershop.com/cross-stitch-calculator
I’m currently working with 14 count Aida. Should I progress to 16 and 18 count Aida before trying Evenweave? Thank you for the talk on Evenweave it was extremely informative.
Hello Donna! Not necessarily - if you start on 28 evenweave, the stitches are going to be the same size as the stitches on 14 count. The whole thing with evenweave is getting used to stitching over two
hello
do you know when floss fairy wand is coming back in?
Hello Jay! We are expecting more to arrive in March.
Why is 14 count Bisque Aida by Colour and Cotton so soft? And what would it compare to that was shown today?
Hello Suzette! It is a hand-dyed fabric made from 100% cotton like the fabric shown at 17:50
How do you decide whether to stitch 2over 2 or 2over 1 or 1 over 1 on evenweave
Hello Kellzbellz! It's personal preference. Some patterns will list that information.
Does Pale Grey Gingham come in Lugana - or just Aida?
Hello Sharyn! It is only available in Aida and Evenweave.
Is 25 count essentially equal to a 12.5 aida then? Use 3-4 threads? Thank you in advance!
Hello yorkienme! Yes that is correct but 12.5 count does not exist.
Are there very many patterns for 25, and 27 ? I'm new
Hello Mary! Yes, there are patterns for 25 and 27 count. 28 and 32 are typically the suggested sizes or their Aida equivalent.
Can you tell me which of the fabrics have the most drape? I want something that hasn't even looked at starch LOL
Hello The Sunshine Show! Jobelan is the softest ua-cam.com/users/liveULiiF8ZqvNo?feature=shared&t=1513
I use the ISE Cross Stitch Key a lot, love it! Kimberly mentioned Fabric Flair screen prints on one side of their evenweave fabric. Does the Fabric Flair evenweave shrink since it's screen printed vs hand dyed?
Hello Gwen! We can't say for sure because we don't know what sizes they start with.
I can never watch your videos live but they are usually in my list. This one and today's video weren't. I like to have never found these
How much of a margin do you allow before starting to stitch ?
Hello Diana! Kimberly typically leaves at least two inches to allow room for finishing. It is her personal preference. If you need help finding a place to start stitching we have a cross stitch key www.fatquartershop.com/cross-stitch-key-its-sew-emma
If my patterns calls for linen and I use Lugana for the same pattern? My pattern calls for half stitches. Thank you
Hello Amy! We have a cross stitch calculator here that can help. www.fatquartershop.com/cross-stitch-calculator
So would it come out the same as aida, with over 2 is what you're same.
Hello Mary! That is correct. For example 28 count over two will finish at the same size as 14 count.
What is Hardanger cloth?
Hello yorkienme! Hardanger is 100% cotton and it is usually a 22 count fabric.
These videos are so informative but I always have trouble hearing your videos. I had been watching Nichol Spohrs button video which I heard good & then came to this video & could hardly hear you at all. Has anyone else experienced this? Doubled the volume on the TV & barely made a difference.
Hello Jane! We have not heard from anyone else that our audio is too low.
Lots of great information, definitely a video to return to. My only complaint is the extremely loud music at the beginning, and ending of all your videos! I don’t see why this is necessary just to make grab bar device to quickly change the volume.😢

Linen is even I wish you would stop telling people its not
Totally agree with you Norma. Linen is even weave and so is Aida. I wish the term evenweave would stop being used for those fabrics such as lugana, jobelan, etc. why not just call them by the manufacturers name for them. All the fabrics we use are evenweave unless otherwise stated.( like 52/60 linen). Sooo frustrating
Technically that is true, except for the linens that are 52/60, etc. The reason they are usually referred to that way is because the threads in linen are not all the same thickness (while lugana, jobelan, etc are) so basically some stitches vary a little in size because some of threads are thicker than others. Most people ‘group’ fabric into the three categories; aida, evenweave and linen. If you want to be literal about evenweave and linen, all those fabrics are evenweaves, because there are the same number of threads ‘making up each square’/same number of thread running vertically and horizontally, which would include all linens except for those minority linens that have different number of vertical threads than horizontal threads.
I must respectfully disagree with your definition of evenweave. The term evenweave means there are the same number of warp threads as weft threads. Therefore being even. A square will stitch up square. The term evenweave has nothing to do with the thickness of each individual threads. By definition all fabrics that we cross stitch on are evenweave unless otherwise stated such as your 52/60 linens. So aida, lugana, murano, linda, hardanger, jobelan, davos, linen, congress cloth, mono canvas are ALL examples of evenweave. The industry has not done us any favors by calling only certain fabrics evenweave. That has by all means added to the confusion. It is just my personal opinion that we need to call these fabrics (that the industry calls evenweave ) by their actual name. Lugana/ jobelan/ davos/linda etc. and not use the term evenweave when we are speaking of them. Only use the term evenweave when speaking of the entire category of fabrics used to cross stitch. Such as to say when you want to do a counted needlework you want to use fabrics that are evenweave such as linen aida lugana etc. just another note. Aida may be made up of many threads to create the square but it is evenweave by definition. Remember the term evenweave means the same number of threads squares horizontally and vertically. I am always available to help people understand this concept.
