Actually Lover's Point is in Pacific Grove. My Grandparents retired there in the late '50s and my Grandfather organized the local Rotary Club to plant the Ice Plant that has the purple flowers. The flowers are not year around, but last a long time in the fog. They had a house right on the water out by the lighthouse.
I LOVE Monterey!!! I used to live there! The fog always lifts about 11am.

I grew up in Monterey Bay and commuted to SLO for work for years. Central California is amongst some of the most gorgeous scenery you will ever see.

So funny you guys - now my husband wants that hand. Love the drone and all the footage - it reminded us of our trip there. We love... loved our visit to Point Lobos. We saw otters, seals (or sea lions... I forget) so many flowers... birds and all kinds of great views. Like you said - such a beautiful area - thanks - love your whole family.

Left western NY with our 33' travel trailer with the ultimate destination being Disney World we stopped in Savannah GA along the way. A detour took us right into downtown Savannah at rush hour where we probably shouldn't have been but I told my wife Marc doesn't let small spaces keep him away with his trailer and neither am I! 😉. We survived and are having a great time thanks for all of your tips.

My brother lives in Carmel Highlands. He used to run the little gas/snack station for 20 years. I am never disappointed when I visit the area just beautiful.

I drove there once. That's the great thing about going somewhere at least once. No one can take away your memories. It was a long time ago. I flew to Las Vegas, then to San Francisco. Then rented a car and drove to Yosemite, then back just below SF and all the way down Hwy 1 to Los Angeles. It was an awesome drive. I love seeing those bridges, the water, and the hills again through your gorgeous photos. I didn't have the luxury of flowers since it was between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but Carmel was all lit up in Christmas lights. It was like an old time European village and it was beautiful. I took a picture of the Lone Cypress Tree. Love the fog. It's great to see you guys having such a great time.

Just when I thought I had seen the best ever travel vlog, then I see this one, awesome! I loved the drone footage at the bridges especcially the one were the drone was actually in the fog. My wife and I and our three girls went through this area back in the mid-seventies and we loved it. Seeing it again brings back lots of memories. Thanks again, I love you guys.

That hand reminds me. If you guys come back through Seattle, one of the places you should check out is Archie McPhee. Full of wonderfully wierd stuff like the little hand. And squirrel underpants. It is in the Wallingford neighborhood, 45th ave and stone way.

My daughter and I took a bus tour from SanFran to Monterey/Carmel and the pink flowers were my favorite part of the trip....
As I watch this video my mind goes back to Easter weekend 1967 when me and some friends drove it from San Francisco to Ventura on our way back to San Bernardino. We were in a car of course. A semi hot rod of a car to boot. What a drive. Not sure if I will ever be able to do it again in my life time. Many thanks.

my parents used to go to Carmel every year for some alone time, away from us 7 kids at home. I've never been there myself, but feeling nostalgia for Mom and Dad's many trips there...gorgeous videography Marc. ..thanks guys!

Lived in the area for many years. My fav CA places. Have wintered there for three years now since my sister and daughter live near there. We were there when Big Sur had the road closure and all. So sad. Pacific Grove area is where the RVs were parked. Used to take my son there to play on the rocks. Reminiscing. 😎🙂 Hope you went to wharf #1 and 2. , Trish loved the finger. 😂

Another fantastic video! Love the humor and laughs, and Marc your drone footage is amazing!! One of my favorite places is the Monterey area. So glad you found the shore line along Ocean View Blvd, Lovers Point and along with the rocks and tide pools at the north end of Pacific Grove.

Our son and daughter-in-law live in that area. If you haven't already; Check out Point Lobos walking trails. There is a neat area that was a whaling area with neat things to see, beautiful trails as well. Watch out for poison oak!
Great vid! One thing: the area you called Carmel is actually Pacific Grove (I lived along that road with the purple/pink ice plants at one time). PG is a great town--the best in the area!

The drive from Hearst Castle to Monterey on California Route 1 is astounding. FYI: Very challenging with an RV. I was fortunate enough to be stationed at the Presidio of Monterey twice and just fell in love with the entire area. And, as a golfer, the seven mile drive by Pebble Beach was phenomenal.
More specifically the corner of Ocean View and Beach is in the beautiful coastal town of Pacific Grove, Ca. You both are standing only a few blocks from my home. I’m beyond excited that you visited the central coast of California and my hometown. My wife and I love your content as we too own an RV and are making the switch to a travel trailer so our twin boys can see first hand The beautiful country we live in. Keep up the great work!!!!! We will be watching 😉.
I was so lucky to grow up in this part of CA! You are making me homesick!!! BTW- the purple flowers are called "ice plant". Further up the coast you might see pink and yellow. You hit it at the right time for blooming. Those of us that lived around the area went to the beach in the winter- much nicer and not so much fog. I'm glad you are enjoying it!!!! I really feel like I came late to the KYD party, BUT.....I am completely inspired by your whole family! I grew up camping as a child in the mountains of New Hampshire and Maine. I regret not taking my 3 children camping more so they could have more experiences and memories. My husband and I purchased a travel trailer couple years back and now we are camping more. ( My husband had NEVER been camping in his life before). Thank you for the amazing videos, conversations and enjoyment. I am a new watcher and will continue to do so. If you all ever get back to the Southeastern part of VA, I would be glad to attend any meetups you all schedule. Thank you for all you do!

This is really cool folks. I grew up in Morro Bay, Ca. It is 93.3 miles south from Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. I am 63 yrs. old. Now you know my age. That whole Hwy. back then was owned by us. Back then you could park anywhere and camp anywhere or whatever. Now it is a zoo. It is a shame that a bridge washed out and a landside have caused the Hwy. 1 to be closed. Being a old hippy myself I prefer the south side entrance. I know your wife likes the luxurious life style to the North but I am the exact opposite. Thank God you did not try taking your rig on the 1, which is what we all call it. Take care and thanks for the vid. Jim in Yosemite, Ca.

Yes I did. Loved the Mexico experience also. I have been up the dome 8 times. Camped up there 3 times. Not allowed now. You need a reservation now to climb. When I was a kid we did not have the cables like they do now. It is a beautiful view from up their. Looking across from the Dome at all the people running all around Glacier Point is amazing. Love your vids. Love your kids. Please keep them coming. You ever want to get rid of Caleb for a week, send him my way. Oh, by the way, I got my first 6 point buck in the area of all of those wineries in Paso Robles way back when. There were no wineries back then. Jim in Yosemite, Ca.
