Experimenting with New Redstone in Minecraft 1.16

- We experiment with redstone in Minecraft Snapshot 20W10A which introduced the TARGET BLOCK! One of the first dedicated redstone components introduced into Minecraft since observers. It has some very interesting game mechanics that we can use to create interesting redstone contraptions.

That could potentially be useful for vertical redstone builds.
Dropper hits the top target to power the top level, then the top target is pushed to the side by a piston.
The arrow falls to the next level at a rate _independent of restone ticks,_ and hits the next target below some time later.
Completely new redstone timings are possible with this depending on the vertical distance between targets.
Edit: Increase the distance between the target and the dropper for better randomizing.
Rhune the dropper can’t be moved and it would take up to much room and eventually re translate to ticks wen it next enters a repeater.
Just use glass and redstone for vertical redstone

Technically it is *simple* in that it's made of specific components (like an OR gate) that can be wired together, rather than having to come up with the entire circuit. Meaning if you were familiar with the various stock builds like a T-flip flop or a falling edge monostable circuit, then just assembling those pieces together is fairly simple. Not unlike the difference between putting together IKEA furniture vs designing all the pieces yourself.

my initial thought when seeing the target block was like. semi-wireless redstone. like setting up modules that would be able to send a target upwards or downwards, even in just about any direction, using arrows from like a skeleton farm. or just connecting egg farms to the dispensers. etc. It'd be more resource intensive. but it'd be a good way to have nearly wireless redstone signals travel about. that isn't as limited as the daylight sensor method.

Mechanics:

and who gets the bullseye gets a price
Mumbo, you can make a game out of that scoring system you showed at the end of the video, with the Hermits having to pay a set amount of diamonds for a number of tries and the first person that gets the bullseye winning some type of a prize and then the prize is reset and it all starts over again. Easy diamonds for you!
There's a locked chest that is only revealed when you hit bullseye. There is a special Mumbo made reward inside, but every time you pay 2 diamonds into a hopper to try, 1 of those diamonds goes into the locked chest.

Mumbo making a useless redstone contraption with target block, aka his diamond making mini game of Hermitcraft
First thing that comes to mind with this block is the cliche soldier training scene.
So a very cool minigame could be built. Making a wall or a halway and making target blocks came into sight, by removing blocks in front of them or just poping them out from hidding. Using the different signal streght that the block has, different quantity of "points" could be dropped into a hopper or a water stream depending of how good the shot was. Then, all points could be given to the player as a key to a randomized prize (like Iskal did in RUN) or stored in a block that gives a redstone sinal depending on the items stored inside (like a hopper or dropper). The more items that are stored (meaning that the player got more points), the more diamonds you get.
A timed variant could also be an option. In this case the poping in and out of sight must be cyclical though. Making use of "AND gates" a final redstone signal could be used to stop the timer. Depending on the time requiered to hit ALL the targets, the prize will be different, the more time you need, the smaller the price will be.
Different throwables could be used too, each one with a different pricing. For example, using a bow could be more expensive than using a crossbow, beacuse the bow fire at a higher rate, making the possible prize higher. A neat detail could also be firing a firework, a light or a sound when a bullseye is hit.
The redstone can be hidden no problem behind decoration as well. I personally think it is a cool concept and quite easy to pull off even for me; so our redstone wizard could do wonders.
Have a nice day! ;P
Asper gillus. It would be a great game on the hermicraft server and see all the hermits challenge each other
@@____7460 Yeah, that was what I had in mind. In fact, over the past month I have been thinking about how could the minigame have been constructed. @@Awicz314 yeah... or maybe there could be a counter for number of times someone hit bullseye, over a period of time.
Having a piston move a target block could actually be handy. This could create a constantly moving target, which could make a great arcade style game and archery training at the same time.
What about wireless Redstone? Getting a dispenser to shoot an arrow over long distances.
Something you should do when it goes live. Make a minigame. You charge like 1 or 2 diamonds (your call) for one run. And then you get like (exampel number) "10" arrows and a bow and you dhoot those. That makes it incredibly hard to get a perfect score and it then stores like best scores ever with a top five and stuff like a real arcade.
Also. You can start of with a bullseye and not move your crosshair so use some piston action to boubce sround the player to stop that.

i’m so impressed that the code actually worked, keep it up and send out a new hermit craft vid soon
1:09 Could you use that method as an ignition for flying machines?
True but so are buttons. Basically this is an upgraded button in terms of shooting
@@renemercado3128 Buttons will pop off mate
I've just scoured every wiki to see if they are pushable, for exactly this purpose. Should have come here first, after all...
I just can't believe there aren't flying machine cockpit builds all over youtube already.
I like how the slime block piston arrow thing is still going on as he’s making the piston door
So, it functions as a sort of infinite clock, requiring no hoppers or items other than a single arrow.
I immediately thought of an elevator use for this where an arrow can be shot from a dispenser down to the bottom to cause the elevator to be called to the top. Basically hit button which fires the arrow and activates a target that triggers the elevator to be called to you. Not sure you could do it from the bottom though if it's too far
Soo.. anyone gonna tell him? WIRELESS REDSTONE
Boi you’re dumb that does not work
1. Not really wireless, stuff travels between...
2. We already have wooden buttons
@@vibaj16
1. Still not a redstone wire (or string), you don't need to manually lay it out considering space restrictions and stuff
2. Wooden buttons stay active until arrow despawns which makes it pretty unreliable, while target block gives one-tick pulse and can be used repeatedly
@@ShaggyDemiurge guys it's the command block it's wireless
@@vibaj16 so wi-fi isn't wireless by your definition. the literal definition of wireless is without a wire, luckily.
9:22 Honestly, I bet you could get some diamonds by building this on the hermitcraft server. 1 diamond for 5 shots?
And he/she get bullseye mumbo have to pay 10 diamond
Zul Fiqri he would actually lose diamonds :D. Maybe a refund if they hit a bullseye
How about 64 iron
@@zoul3520 no the currency is diamonds besides the second currency before (season 6) was emeralds
@@zoul3520 so random person has the right idea
The first thing I did with the target block was a flying machine with a target that goes 1 block backwards every time you shoot on the target, so it becomes harder an harder !
That's a really nice idea
It would be dope to have a secret entrance where you need to use multi shot to hit all three targets at the same time.
1:23 WIRELESS REDSTONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SPOOKY gaming KMYT no, top left

Your profile is my keyboard.
6:12 soul sand has always been a full block, just like honey blocks, they just have a collision box on the top that’s lower.
They used to look smaller too
0:46
I might just be seeing things but it seemed that when you hit it on the far side, it gave a stronger redstone output on the opposite side which doesn't make sense but that's what it looked like.
One side has a repeater which makes the signal stronger pretty much no matter what
A Tom oh I didn’t notice, thanks.
6:53 I wonder if having a nether wart farm would be suspicious?
Mumbo's invented a Metroid-style door in Minecraft...
Look closely Metroid builders!

UA-cam: No, I don't think I will
