Thanks for your video! Question please. For the Samson mic USB cable going into a laptop/computer, does it matter whether the computer port is USB 3.0 or USB 2.0? For your own computer, are you plugging into a USB 3.0 or 2.0 port? This is a big issue for me because my current USB mic, the $170 Blue Yeti X, only works on USB 2.0, not 3.0, and all documentation on the Yeti X mic confirms this. One of my older Windows laptops has USB 2.0, so my Yeti X mic works with that laptop. But I have 2 newer laptops with only USB 3.0 ports, and the Yeti X mic doesn't work on those newer laptops on USB 3.0. Yes, I know that USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0, etc, but in practice this simply doesn't work my Yeti X mic on USB 3.0. Hence I want to confirm if the Samson mic can work connected to either USB 3.0 or 2.0 ports. Also, will the Samson mic work connected to a USB-C port (using an adapter tip)? Thank you much! -Casey
My laptop has 2.0 and 3.0 ports on it, but I don’t remember which one I plugged it into. I didn’t have any problems with it, though. I’m also unsure about using a USB-C with an adapter. Sorry I can’t help more:(
Can i use this for my personal voice recording ? i need crystal quality sound, and want to remove background un wanted sound, is this mic is suitable ? Thank you.
Hey there, I bought this mic, connect it through USB and run through Logic Pro X & FCPX (for voiceover); I can't seem to get the same quality. There also tends to be a lot of hiss sound and disturbance when I speak, I don't know if this is due to having a deep voice?!?! Do you have any advice please? Thank you
This is the mic i chose very good quality for a cheaper mic. I use it for my podcast as well and people ask me all the time how much was it, they are very surprised
@@mrzsmusiclessons seems they do. Useful since I'll likely have a boom arm on my desk www.amazon.co.uk/Knox-Microphone-Shock-Audio-Technica-ATR2100-USB/dp/B07KBWHJB5
Plenty to choose from, just google "handheld microphone shockmount". I've got one with pop filter for under 5 dollars from ebay. Diameter of the mic body is aprox. 32mm.
@@mrzsmusiclessons Thanks for the reply. Let me ask you this way> If you do use the Samson Q2u with Phantom power dose it make a difference? I ask because I thought that Dynamic mics were supposed to use phantom power.. Maybe I'm confused.
@@mrzsmusiclessons Well the Electro Voice 320 is Dynamic and it needs phantom. All the reviews I been watching about comparing Condenser to Dynamic they all say the condenser mics are brighter /louder and the dynamic mics need boosting. Someone is confused for sure. I need more research
Hi, i recently bought a Samson Q2U microphone. I liked the sound and microphone quality, but when I turn on my computer, the microphone's Power/Clip LED indicator flashes red and green rapidly and will continue doing so indefinitely. While it is flashing, the microphone is unusable and will output static noise. In order to fix this, I have to unplug and reinsert the USB cable every time I power up my computer. Do you know any solution to fix this ?
@@mrzsmusiclessons no but boom arm. And even when I hold on my hand. The same problem appears when I tried other laptop also. But desktop PC was working fine!
The background noise test was not so good, probably meaning it needs a shock mount and a boom arm. Which is expected, all microphone users should have this already.
Nice! How much gain in the Focusrite?
Thank you! I can’t remember but I didn’t have to push it very hard.
Great review, very thorough and informative. Thank you for that!
Bruh you got Anime Eyes!
Great Video - Would you recommend this so someone just getting into streaming that's on a budget?
Absolutely! It’s a great budget mic.

It should work and doesn’t pick up too much background noise since it’s a dynamic mic.

How to get rid of rattle sounds
My guess would be the fan from your laptop might be rattling your desk and that’s rattling the mic? Do you have a shock mount?

Sam All mics perform better with a shock mount and boom arm, so for sure!
Is it good for singing? Also, did you hit your goal in time? :D
I didn’t test singing into it, so I can’t give an honest opinion on that. I didn’t hit my goal in time. haha
