I’m a big fan of the nanopresso with barista kit, and the bellman at home to avoid having a big coffee machine out on the bench, and works well with the Lume grinder too. The combination of the three is also completely camp-ready, which is a bonus! Interesting your style of putting the basket on the portafilter first - any reason for that? I normally put the basket on the main unit then screw the portafilter and cap from the top.
Hey Nathan ! Great to hear. Killa combo there. No reason for the way I did it - that's just my style - awkward ;) your way seems much easier now that I've tried it
Hi! Thanks for the informative video. I just recently got myself a nanopresso for use on aircraft (as I am a pilot and really lack good coffee in the air). But I couldn’t find a satisfactory degree of grinding. Any suggestions? I tried a preground coffee, that I use with the aeropress, which turned out to be way too coarse, up to a regular espresso grinding (with the commandante C40) for my ECM Casa V, which still was too coarse. Do you grind it even finer than for a regular espresso? What else could I try to improve the result? Thanks again and take care!
Is the Comandante an MK# or MK4? Try around a settings of 12 on the Comandante and see what that gets you 👍 Keep dialling finer until you get some resistance in the shot - however it will not be like a regular espresso when brewing either - and lack some of the oomph that comes from a machine. Otherwise, great choice for a pilot to brew coffee whilst travelling 😀
I got a Nanopresso for Christmas, with all the accessories. Is perfect for my work as I was fed up of terrible coffee or having to buy from a shop. I usually drink milk based coffee tho and not sure what the best way around this is driving around for work? Or how best to use the accessories for this
Hi Harry! great yeah you want double shots of coffee? use the barista kit to get a stringer shot, and I'd say all you need is a small milk frother like this one - alternativebrewing.com.au/product/aerolatte-go-milk-frother/
I love the N anopresso, I have one and it goes with me everywhere on my travels. Great video as always Josh. BTW where can I get one of those tshirts? looks great!!
thanks Tony! that's a vintage 2015 SCAA Volunteer shirt from Seattle when I went over. check out Department of Brewology though - they've got some nice gear
I’m trying to dial in my nanopresso atm but find the coffee still too weak. I use it while camping. I have started using the double shot as recommended but still find strength and flavour a bit lacking. Do you have any recommendations?
Grind as fine as you can go before it block up - you mostly likely have to find that blocking point and dial coarser from there. Use Boiling water always - and I'd say only brew out twice as much coffee as grounds use. So for the double basket - its about 14g coffee. Make no more than a 28-30g shot.. and dilute this by no more than 4 times. So a coffee that's about 130 - 160ml tops will keep the strength up. alternatively, you can make multiple shots, so two double espresso and make a mug of coffee that way.
How different is the shot from the Nanopresso with Barista kit compared to the Breville Barista Express or any other espresso machines out there? Thank you
In my opinion wouldn't normally consider the Nanopresso as a regular morning coffee at home.. The Nanopresso with Barista kit only brews around a 14g dose, and it will be a very inconsistent pressure profile as you're holding the product and pumping that handle. That being said, as a hand held espresso brewing device - you will be amazed at the flavour and depth of the espresso. It does come out a little cooler than espresso machines can produce,.. and the viscosity of the espresso is no match to an espresso machines... but for travelling the Nanopresso is ideal

I use the 16g basket from barista kit and find that dosing just under 16g gets good results. I use 12 clicks on Timemore C2.
Just got my Nanopresso and the barista kit. Huge oversight by not including a larger scoop to fill the 16g/Double shot baskets
great feedback! think they kept the size of the spoon standard - you'll just need to fill it twice

I don't think it's easy to control after using it. You can try finer ground coffee or press it more tightly.

Shouldn't it be 30 ml for one shot?
The coffee grounds soak up heaps of water :)
nanopresso possible doble shot?
Yes for sure - you'll need the Barista Kit with it so you can do 14g doses 👍
