Now that I know that the purpose of his dumpster project is to shed light on the housing crisis in London, I am much less bothered by this video. Praying that he is able to accomplish his goal of saving enough to purchase his own home while still being able to increase his net worth.
I like this project a lot! The only thing that irks me so bad about the society we live in is that when "poverty/sustainability" is explored in the context of the art/architecture world - then there is funding and stipends and allotted land to use for free. But when it's real people not making ends meet, then no one cares. So even though Harrison has a noble goal here - it still remains a luxury project.
"But when it's real people not making ends meet, then no one cares." True, and in fact, if people try to bypass the system, then they are punished for it. If this wasn't an 'art' project, then it's guaranteed that the City of London would have tried to put a stop to it and prevent him from living there. The reason for this, naturally, is that politicians (and their rich backers) don't like it much when there isn't any money in anything that bypasses the system for them.
We really are all just making it the best way we can. This is creative and genius. I would love to live in a space like this. It's very tiny, but it's an affordable place to call your own.
I wish I could try living like this guy for a year while working full time, and maybe having a part time, then have enough saved to put down a good chunk into a home without feeling tight about money, and still reach financial independence after a few years living minimally and not working as hard!

Some economists have projected that both the U.S. and parts of Europe could slip into a recession for a portion of 2023. A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is more rare because China and emerging markets often grow faster than more developed economies. Essentially the world economy is considered to be in recession if economic growth falls behind population growth.
