I do throw off the hump occasionally for certain shapes like stoppers, ramikin handles, pestles, tea bowls. Weighing up clay lumps is not an issue for me though as I am pretty quick ! ...just been practicing !
I am so inspired! As I practice getting my mojo back after being away from the wheel since Oct '14 I will be giving jam pots w/lids a go! Thanks! I'm in WA state, so the rain is soothing and familiar. :-)
I do not know exactly but the tank when full is showing 80%. It is I think a 100 gallon tank, anyway typically it might read 73% after a glaze firing ....i get quite a few firings bisque and glaze.
Simyon you are a most wonderful potter and a gifted instructor but only in my opinion, I do like the clean shaven you. Whiskers are much more Bohemian and artistic but a shaved face says look I have the time to shave, I am not a lazy artist.
Charles, perhaps you should attempt to attain the skill level prior to making such a judgement. I did a search to view your videos posted, and found nothing to see your "assiduous art".
I could listen to and watch you and your rain all day. Thank you for all your videos...x
Thanks Simon, another great video. its such a shame you are not in England; definitely our loss.

Do these lids need trimmed on the underneath side? Is there a video of this?

Thanks for your wonderful videos. You said it would have a hole for a spoon. Next video?
If you happen to make the lids a little to large they can be dry trimmed to fit when both the jar and the lid are bone dry.
Thanks Simon! :)
They are better trimmed when leather hard....I am going to do a video on this shortly.
