KEEP PRACTICING ! - SL
Simon exhibits the signs of a true master. He has the self-confidence that only comes after decades of honing one's skills. He understands and honors the significance of passing on the knowledge that was bequeathed to him, to his students, in-studio and online. The beauty of the pieces he creates places him on a level of artistic excellence few have achieved. However, it is his dedication to sharing his boundless and priceless knowledge that sets him apart from his peers and raises him to the level of a true master.
This was wonderful! I just asked about this on one of your videos last night… ❤️ thank you for being such a delightful teacher!
Thanks for all your posts. I learn something from each one and always look forward to the next one!
Thank you so much! You have helped me tremendously!!!
I am indeed practicing!!!
Thank you for sharing your talents with us all!
Thank you Simon... I am that the guy that needed exactly this video (today). I think that I have been releasing my hands too fast and getting the lump wet before it's quite where it should be. I am heading out to the wheel while the lesson is fresh in my head.
Thanks Simon! I have just started learning to throw. The last couple of days I have been practicing centering and pulling a cylinder. This clip was very helpful. Now, I'm off for more practice.
Now you are teaching teachers. Thank you!
KEEP PRACTICING !
Graasss Simon Leach!!!!!
Eres un gran Maestro !!!!
Went out to the wheel and threw a GP bowl with much less "fussing about" (centering-wise). Thank you again.
Thank you for your helpfull videos.
If the clay is too sticky and soft for throwing or even wedging, just let it air dry for some hours before you wedge it up.
Take it out of the bag and form hoops with it on your workbench. Best not to put in the sun unless you are there to turn it around regularly.
Simon, you're the best. Thanks a lot!
I always appreciate your videos, thanks for sharing this site centering..sometimes I still have issues with this. Kc
You make me want to keep practicing -thanks!
Thank you for all the video's. I had learned to throw back in the 1970's in high school.I was pretty good but left it behind after graduation and went into the "lost years",recently one of my carpet clients gave me a brent cxc and an old electric kiln. I converted the kiln to propane . Been at it for about three months now and am much better then i was in H.S. Do you still accept photo's of peoples work as you stated in one of your vids ?You have been a godsend ,thanks much, signed John C.
Thank you for the inspiration. I have you book as well thank Simon.
There are no pottery studios in this area & the 4yrs, 11mos wait on DH's disability claim isn't help'g when the only primary support is my disability income. SSA's Disability Program chokes w/red tape & denies in hopes the filer will either go away out of frustration or die - either way, they're paid 2 do nothing & good ppl who deserve SSDI get nothing but headaches. Pottery-throwing was my yoga & I could lose myself in my thoughts while my hands created w/o over-think'g. I still watch ur vids!
That will be the next video - thanks for the reminder !
Simon, you already know this by now considering how freq'ly we used to talk via email but it's almost heart-breaking going thru videos of pottery-throwing b/c I lost my entire savings, which I finally reached enough & was all ready to start breaking grown on the studio next to my home where I hoped to work for yrs & then DH suffered the 2 heart attacks, stroke, quad bypass, vent w/life support & finally coming home only to lose my savings to pay for the concrete floor, kiln, shelves, etc... :(
I keep telling myself if I ever get a studio built, which isn't likely at this point & I'm not holding my breath to set myself up for a major fall... but I desperately wanted to learn to make a Tagine that can be used in cooking. If I can't make my own, I'd at least want one thrown on a wheel vs a commercially-made one w/no heart embedded in it. I've got dozens of recipes saved that are actually cooked in a Tagine but no Tagine to make any of them. I hate dreams that disappear in a blink. :(
What to do if clay is too sticky? I recently got new clay and its too sticky and loose. It sticks to my palms even when they are realy wet. I cant draw walls or make neck in bottles because chunks of clay rip off and stick to my hands.
Simon, can you show 'us' the last of the jam pot videos where you finish off the lid? Ta! :)
Thank you this has been an issue for me.
I am struggling with centering!
