This is RM' apology on the plagiarism incident Rap Monster, currently in Hong Kong for the 2015 MAMA, responded with a full apology:
“Hello. This is BTS’s Rap Monster. I’m currently in Hong Kong for MAMA. Today is a very important day for BTS, but I am writing because I think this is really important and I need to address this myself.
“Early this morning an acquaintance contacted me and told me about the issue concerning the source of my lyrics on SNS.
“First, I sincerely apologize. Even though I just started creating, I am just another creator who experiences a lot of difficulties. I can’t write music through mere internal stimulation, so I take inspiration from talks with friends, books I like, movies, interviews, and letters from fans. I write the feelings and lines that left an impression on me in notes on my phone. Most are erased or forgotten, but after hearing the criticism today I realized that I was unconscious of the mistakes I made. Without knowing the source and not remembering clearly, I carelessly worked only thinking about having to write songs.
“Everything is my fault. I think anyone would naturally feel offended if he had written a specific expression first and then saw [my lyrics]. I will try to contact everyone and claim responsibility to the best of my ability.
“Again, I apologize to the people who pointed this out and to individuals who were hurt. I am sorry and thankful for the fans who are always supportive, despite my shortcomings. I will become a person who thinks of a creator’s responsibility before thinking about a creator’s difficulties.
“I would like to apologize once again to everyone I have caused trouble for.”

Bangtan Journey is just so beautifully inspiring.. and I appreciate Aneesa very much for giving latecomers, and for those who don't have enough time to consume BTS content since the beginning, a comprehensive overview of BTS throughout the years... 🥲 She's a very talented editor and you can see in her work that as much as she loves Bangtan greatly, she values her work ethic by being objective as much as possible and present the events as is while providing logical context, she knows what clips & BTS song to put to trigger our emotions, well BTS & their music is emotional as they are.....BTS Discography is literally their autobiography...Thank you for your reactions! 💜
It’s easy to attack and run, to accuse then walk away and leave the innocent to defend themselves. It gives the accuser a sense of superiority and power. They don’t care who they hurt as long as they get to hurt someone 😢 if you have read or heard something that hits you as important or meaningful it is hard to forget and you end up repeating it as you want to share it with others, the originator should be proud that someone has appreciated their words of wisdom. You can do things with no vice.
Art, just like history, has a tendency of repeating itself. It can be inspired or not. It can be done unconsciously or consciously. But in a world where humans have a certain threshold for aesthetics, music, and everything within the spectrum of arts, then as much as we all try to be original in some way, we can't always help but want to replicate what we find pleasing ourselves. It's such an unfair accusation, what Namjoon went through that time but despite his fear, he faced it bravely head-on. The reason why I find it unfair is because most art even back in the 60s, 70s, 80s, until the present are all inspired or influenced by its predecessors in some way. It's just how humans progress. We don't make up stuff completely from nothing every time but we find something in nature or our surroundings to improve little by little until it piles up, evolves, and becomes a new thing on its own.
Just want to share, my favorite songs in WINGS are MAMA and Outro: Wings tbh, first, because my mom also went through and is going through a lot for me and my brother and like J-Hope, I want to be someone reliable for her one day, and Outro: Wings always pushes me to just do my best and to stop looking back at the past when I could be making myself better now.

From what I’ve seen of Korean entertainment, u always apologize. Right or wrong. Bc u get more hate if you don’t. Like you weren’t raised right. You apologize bc you caused controversy, not for the action itself. But of course haters will use anything to create more hate. “See he apologized so he did it!”
That is what I hate the most about IDOL culture in Asian countries. You have to been perfect all the time for people who will never really like you. Netizens mostly who are randos that can destroy your whole career and reputation just with sometimes a whiff of a rumour soaked in jealously and nonsensical rage!!

This plagiarism with Rm is the least of my favorite. My gosh. The amount of hate he received and backlash because of his apology. It's like if you don't apologize you are guilty, if you do, you are guilty as well! Like wth? My gosh. In this age, everything is inspired by something! Especially songs, lyrics, artworks, etc. Artists are inspired about somwthing they listened, heard, read, saw, etc. So they use that inspiration to create something with a twist and own it, the end result is most likely wayyyy faaaaar from what it's inspired from.
Anyway, i love what suga said. That when he'll be asked about his happiness he'll always think of the moments when they're together 🥰
Thank you guys! I'm ARMY only, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate and enjoy other artists. I just feel more connected to BTS then anyone else and that's okay because I'm not going to try to force others to love them(I might get super excited if you give them a chance, but what can I say, I just love them lol!).💜🥰💜
I was told and I don’t remember who told me but the original thing was Joon being a huge reader had used something he read in a story or poem in a song unintentionally and he apologized and worked that out with the original writer but then because that one incident turned out to be true antis used that to say they plagiarized everything from their faves. And it became a huge issue. And yes many times those companies apologize even if they aren’t actually wrong.
That performance of Mama was so special, it was not only jhopes first time performing it but his mom was there hearing it for the first time. If you guys need access to watch bon voyage, which is season two when they go to Hawaii let me know and we can see what we can do to get you guys access. Love this series so much!

for those who didn't know, he was accused of plagiarizing a tweet way back 2015 which he used in his lyrics. he also posted an apology days after and i believe there's no legal action that was taken because they said unless a tweet was copyrighted then that's the only time it can be considered as plagiarism. but all of a sudden the issue blew up again in 2017.
this made me tear up a few times. always sobering when they are candid and so sincere. powerful one. and always a pleasure with you all

You are absolutely right about artists struggles and being tiring everyday to be up to the personna the public knows and we forget sometimes they are only humans. 💜
I admire Kim Namjoon so much for being the resilient man he is. The responsabilities as a leader, the pressure as the main writer, the intense schedules, the criticism from some of rap korean people and from idolized artists korean society not seing him as a real idol for not fitting in beauty standards, etc etc... Must be an imense amount of issues to deal with everyday. And he has been around since 2010. 💜
My heart hurts for RM. Karma will punish all the antis who hurt BTS.
I'm sorry but the plagiarism thing was ridiculous. Judge for yourselves, but would you consider a line from a twt, not even from the writer's published material (the original twt was taken down later bc the writer wanted to use it in an album jacket that he hadn't released yet), to even fall under plagiarism?
I mean, good on RM for realizing he may have copied a line and apologizing for it, and yeah, he should've sourced when he writes lines down, esp as he puts these things in the same notebook he writes his own stuff in, but the backlash he got was absurd.
I mean, the guy who accused him even admitted that his reaction was too much and that he appreciated that they were able to talk it out. But antis took this as open season to accuse BTS of copying any and everything, even to today, ppl try to accuse them.
And funny how none of these allegation have ever resulted in an actual legal issue (including the thing with RM). It's almost like these ppl don't actually understand anything abt plagiarism 🤔

I missed the BTS performance on stage can't wait for YET TO come in Busan concert.
OMG that J Hope performance of MAMA reminded me of him in Young Forever Live. I thought he could easily do a solo concert at the time. And he did it in Lalapalooza. Watched it live and I thought here a star was born. My fave song of his from his album Jack in the Box is Equal sign and his live stage of it was magical. He and his performance very sexy too. He is a musical genius. His lyrics are deep and delivery is creative. Some critics said his album was like a poem. His performance is copy paste. I feel lots of yt reacters sleep on him. He wrote Mic Drop, Dynosius and Dis-ease all very popular. His Hope World is perfect and coherent.
I have been to several BTS live concerts and I have to say without J Hope's stage attack, energy and sunny vibes BTS concert will lack something large. Then there is Jimin's strong voice that fills the stadium. You get shivers when you hear Jimin's voice live.

So those plagiarism accusations, I don't know exactly what were about, but I know 3 things for sure.. If not without base they were for sure over reaction, hateful reactions. If any truth in it, RM was always willing to apologize, learn and improve.. Just as I'm sure he was seriously hurt, mind and soul, by all that. And that hate.. Is unforgettable, also.. Not sure if those haters, fans of others.. Learned to respect Bts or they just got much smaller than Bts+Army, so no more able to bully
