You can also make it reversible for different seasons. I got a standard woodland net and sprayed on spots of bright green and yellow patches for summer forest and flipped it over and did the other with orangey & brown spots & patches for autumn forest. Worked really well. Weathering does make the paint start to flake off but weirdly this actually enhances the camo effect. A bit like pixelation perhaps.
Great result. The key to success that you highlighted is to ensure you have a far larger net than the tarp/basha being used. It is so frustrating to find you cannot conceal a position properly because your scrim or netting is too small. If anything, it tends to make your camp stand out more! You did a good job with the size you bought. I use a mix of UK MOD desert netting and UK MOD woodland nets and a section of Swedish woodland that have also been customised with a little spray here and there. As you say, add in the local foliage, use different heights to break up shape and use natural lighting through the tree canopy, ensuring the location is ideal to start with and it really works well. Much of it comes down to finding the best naturally camouflaged location to start with and working to adapt how you can fit into that location. As a side note, the great thing about many of these 'new' camo products is they do not have the a tual netting attached and are in effect, just the garnish. That makes them so much lighter to carry, means they can be compressed far more easily and don't tangle and get caught on everything, I including the cleats on your boots!! I cannot tell you how many times 'netting' has tripped me or got tangled around a bit of my kit!! 😂
I was surprised at how good it was, even though it is a little different in colour and you are right, I'm pretty confident I would walk right past that unless I was looking for it.
Most of the time when stealth camping, you're going to be quite a bit away from the path (where people aren't going). People most likely won't see even the first example with the net unless they're looking for you. Great improvement with and without spray paint
Makes sense. With all of the brown leaves on the ground, brown branches. Nice touch with the darker brown. I am told the odd small touch of black worlds well too which replicates all of the black, deep shaded areas in nature . But your dark brown achieved the same thing. That camo net shelter was virtually invisible!!! 🇬🇧 🇳🇿
I just bought two winter camouflage nets to use as fake snow for my yard Christmas decorations (currently living in southern US so real snow is rare and causes panic amongst the local populace). I was surprised how little it weighed and how compact it was compared to a similar sized military one. No idea how well it will hold up but for a lawn decoration I am sure it is fine.
Certainly did. They do another desert one I'm tempted to get to just to compare and contrast, that one is a bit more orangey in colour, probably great for freshly fallen leaves.
Good review, thank you definitely an idea worth following up

Yeah, you could definitely do that.

@mrfitz96
That's a great idea! Never thought of that.
It's an amazing improvement! It's not perfect of course, but a massive improvement non the less!
It is doing a good job. The thing is, you only see it if you're looking for it. I would use it as it is. 👍

@@dogdadoutdoors would the spray paint work on a tarp
👍 worked well mate and in a nice spot.
Thanks. It does seem to do a decent job. Better than I expected, which is rare!

Yes I thought so, definitely helps break up the shape.

I was surprised at how well it actually worked. After a few hours shooting my eyes were exhausted.

Nice!
tannins from used teabags gd for darkening tan / coyote too.. an tiedying always fun
Do you have a link for the net? You could place it in the description.
Vast improvement with the net.
Not sure it needed spraying
For best colour choice look to nature. All common prey in the UK are brown. Look at how a huge deer can be almost invisible any time of year.
No difference, left or right, it blends in very well.

Interesting, because you appear to surrounded by conifers
Its pretty mixed just here, there is quite a few conifers, but interspersed with there is a lot of beech and the odd birch.
anythings an improvement on mtp its awful
