I’m a decorator and I’ve got the exact same ladder….been using mine indoors and low level for 4 years now and honestly it’s been great and well worth the relatively small price I paid on Amazon
Yet another person praising these but only going up 4 steps and no further... So unless you go to the top how can you say it's well built?
totally agree with you. I’m contemplating buying one but yet to find a good thorough reviewer. Most people seem to spend considerable amount of time commenting on unboxing , how good is the packaging and the delivery was amazing etc. Etc.. but would be nice to focus on the practical side of things. You have to be extra careful when purchasing goods just based on the number of reviews where most of them, for example on Amazon comment on delivery and packaging etc
I have watched 10 videos , same result.
@@teadott Once i got over the initial fear of the pivoting joint i was actually able to climb to the top - note though that i only done this on grass not tarmac or wooden floors etc (grass has the advantage that the ladder can sink into the mud which then offers resistance against slipping - got that from a builder!). The way i conquered the pivoting joint fear was to extend the top half and leave the bottom half collapsed and climb over it like that. Then extend one bottom section, climb it, then another section, climb it again.. and again.. Now i can go to the top (though it's been a few months lol). But you need to have the base of the ladder further out than a normal ladder as it flexes inwards towards the wall the higher you go - meaning you feel like it's vertical and then can't climb higher. If you have the bottom out a bit further this counters that problem. Again, not tried on anything other than grass so i'd recommend you have someone with you to stabilise it at the bottom.
@@jaydee2559 thanks for the tip, I went up 20 ft, and had to jump off the roof 10ft down, that ladder didn't look too stable.
YEAH, I HAVE YET TO SEE ANYONE VENTURE TO THE TOP OF A 30 FOOTER TWICE THE HEIGHT OF THIS ONE, AND THIS GUY COULDN'T EVEN MAKE IT PAST A COUPLE OF FEET!
I bought a 6.2M one off of Ebay.
I put it up against the side of my house, about 5M high.
There's quite a bit of flex in it and makes it feel unsafe. I got half way up and stopped.
I also found that the top of the ladder slid very easily against my brick wall. It needs more grip.
Something else is that I'm not very tall and found that the gap between the treads is too big.
I had to really stretch up to step on the next tread and I can see myself pulling muscles in my legs soon.
I've also bought a ladder stand off so I'm hoping this will help with the top sliding.
I'll add more comments once I use it more.
i usually hate bulky items that come with its own bag because you can never fit it back in properly but with these ladders, it fits right in its bag
How has the ladder stood up to the test of time? Have you used it much?
i think 5 meters long is somewhat too much for this type of ladder, i think 4 meters would be max to keep things stable and save
Thanks the comment, good point it does have a little bounce to it which can feel uncomfortable when going up.
It's not an issue when ya have a well made telescopic ladder like Xtend & Climb, they are made with thicker aluminum and made much better. I'm confident enough in my 15'5" Xtend & Climb, I'm waiting for a actual 20' version to come out.
I baught a 6 meter foldable one. From my experience not good. Goes up 3-4 meters then arches verticaly very sharply. Whats the point of it being so tall if i cant go all the way to the top
I have a similar type, but mine is quite a bit shorter - 3,8 or 4,2m, I’m not sure - and it's an A-frame that can also fold out into a straight ladder. I was looking for something longer, but eventually had to settle for this one. In hindsight I think it actually was the better buy, as it should be safer than a longer one. Mine is OK, but it does flex quite a bit and I always prefer using my conventional aluminium 3-piece extension ladder. Not only is it more versatile, it is a lot sturdier at the same height, has a higher reach in A-frame mode and is a damn sight lighter to carry! The only category in which this type of ladder has the upper hand is collapsibility and compact size when not in use. My daily drive is a smart car and when I bought this ladder I actually felt I could be an advertisement for them, because it easily fits into the back of the smart! 😁😜
I've had 2 now, and in both cases, the feet rubbers 'cookie cut' and drop off, with the constant crashing down as you close them. It's a design fault, and all for the want of the tubes being rounded to stop them cutting into the rubber.
They don't like getting wet, so get it in when it rains, or the mechanism gets 'sticky'.
Can't speak for a 5m one. I'm used to ladders, every day, but that is a bit far for this mechanism. They are great for tradesmen for lofts, and flat roof access etc, but if you need to go up 5m, buy a normal ladder.
AND KEEP YOUR FINGERS OUT OF THE WAY WHEN YOU CLOSE!!!
Not a design fault, it's a user fault. If you tilt the ladder forwards as you release each section the friction stops it from coming down at all. Then you put your hand on it and gently pull it down instead. I had a workman here today.. he used one and like you released it and let it drop down - i had to educate him too. He was amazed that such a simple trick was so effective and prolongs the life of the ladder.
Found this vid when looking for videos of long telescopic ladders - I think there is a reason the big ladder brands (Werner, Youngman, etc) don't make ladders longer than about 4m. I would not trust this ladder personally - the base in particular gives me nightmares, it should be much more substantial.
Really helpful, thank you.
The steps seem to be perfectly square to the frame. Surely this means the feet do not make full contact with the step surface when the ladder is at any angle. Any telescopic ladder that has made improvements in this direction?
+AG Yu interesting point....thanks for the comment
Hi are they 5metres noticed they don't quite reach the soffit I fit CCTV but need a set to reach just under the soffit also how sturdy are they
It's good but it does move quite a bit.
How comfortable is the rung distance?
Haha. I watched your hozelock video a month ago. Thanks again mate.
You're welcome mate!
question, what is the highest you can go up this 5m ladder? What is the highest from the ground you can rest your feet on to do some work on a crack on a wall up there? I am looking to buy a ladder and not sure if 5m will be high enough
Thanks for the comment. This ladder is 5M tall but if you lean it against a wall you will get less height depending on the angle the ladder is against the wall. So you'll get around 4metres or less.
The optimal angle for a ladder is 75°, so the feet of a 5m ladder should be 1,25m away from vertically below the support against which you've leaned the top. I'm sure the loss in height can be worked out in a scale drawing.
I can get my head level with the top of my ladder BUT you have to have the base of the ladder out further to compensate for the flexing inwards towards the wall. Also when releasing keep the ladder tilted forwards so it doesn't come slamming down (and causing premature faulire of the locking mechanisms). Tilt forward, friction holds it. Then pull it down by hand.
Fiddly! I’d want stabilisers on this ladder.
This looks like a wannabe Xtend & Climb Ladder, which I don't think you should ever skimp on a ladder due to safey. These seem like they use alot thinner aluminum to build these knock off ladders.
It not safe if you go up there by foof. It's bendy like rainbow , and your pants full with shet 🤣🤣🤣🤣
True
I got a new car, no roof rack and was considering one of these! Can't find a 5m telescopic ladder link? After reading other comments of these ladders probably not so gud tho 4 window cleaning? What u think? 🤔
Its ok, you'd actually feel safer on a more standard ladder. The bounce on this can feel quite uncomfortable.
Buy a Xtend & Climb 15'5", that's there tallest ladder and ya don't want a thin aluminum telescopic ladder like this.
Are you kidding? You went up 4 rungs lmao
wow I didn't get the case and the gloves with mine now i feel robbed I would have really liked to have the case
If it's the same product get in touch with the seller.
