Nice, very nice.
Thanks Chrystal! Have a great weekend.
Absolutely Lovely🤗
Thank you! 😊
Wonderful video, love your succulents and balcony! 😸🌿
Thanks so much! 😊 I enjoy your channel too.
Nice 😍 thanks sharing !
I think I love your patio best! This would be a great way to start a cool day with a cup of tea. You have a beautiful collection and I appreciate your good will finds.
Thanks so much! 😊
The elephants food bush 😍😍
It's one of my favorites and so easy to take care of.
When I have a bad day at work I watch some plant videos including your balcony tour videos. They are so relaxing and calming to watch and your voice is so soothing it puts me to sleep. 💕💕💕
Aww, I'm sorry you're having a bad day. But, I'm glad this video was a comfort to you. I'll have a Spring balcony update in a couple of months.
Lovely balcony a great bunch of plants I like you catus hanger very cute
Thank you so much 😊
I really enjoyed this tour, lovely balcony! Succulents are such interesting plants!
They really are Brigitte. So many different varieties.
Wow....Carmen...you have such a beautiful collection of plants! We are below 32F here in Toronto, Canada....enjoyed all of your plants! Your garden zone must be 7...amazed at how you can keep those plants outdoors during this time Dec 5!! Amazing!
I'm in zone 9B, so I can keep many things outside over the Winter. It's the Summer that I protect my plants more, because of the sun damage. Thanks for visiting.
Very nice, loved it
Glad you liked it, Thanks for visiting!
You have a very nice collection
Thanks for visiting!
I like this. Cute dog with nice garden.
Thank you very much!
Hi Carmen, you have quite a collection on your balcony! There is a LOT of joy there! I wish I could show you my Trigona that I rescued last fall. She is at least 50 years old, per previous owner! She made a miraculous recovery, and is a lovely specimen now. GOOD LUCK with yours!!!
Wow Frances! I would love to see that. If you have an Instagram, tag me so I can see. That's amazing.
Beautiful Carmen 😍 Do you ever just go out there relax & enjoy the beauty? I'm finally getting the hang of some Cacti, succulents etc 👏☺️
I do, in the afternoons. I also have the patio door/screen open often so Rosie can go in and out when she wants.
What a fantastic collection and video, thanks for sharing! Your videos are always so much fun to watch.
So glad you enjoyed it Keven! Have a great weekend!
Its always so lovely to see how well your cacti are growing! Makes me dream of living somewhere warm where I don't need a growlight for cacti
It definitely had it's advantages. But, the Summers can be brutal. It's all give and take. Thanks for visiting Twisty!
Thanks for the tour. I don't know very much about cacti.
Thanks for visiting!
Loved the tour 😍beautiful collection, Carmen❣️🙏🏻🍃💕
Glad you enjoyed it Rebecca, have a great weekend.
Everything looks good, Carmen. It looks cold out there too - for Arizona that is - but Rosie is appropriately dressed!
Yes, her little fur is definitely helping her out right now. Although, I do see a cute Christmas sweater in her future.
Nice tour Carmen. You just described a plant that I had no idea of the name. I've been researching, but It's the portulacaria afra. Thank you so much. 🙂
It's one of my favorite succulents! And elephants really do eat it! It's native to South Africa. Thanks so much for watching!
The birds got into my plant bench and made a lot of my plants look horrible. So I went and got some tulle fabric and I lay that over all my cacti and succulents. Fixed it so they can’t get stuck under but can’t get to the plants to peck at them and mess in the dirt. I put skewers around too to keep it from laying on anything tender.
That's a great idea Debi, I'll look into it. I think I brought it on myself with the bird feeder! Needless to say I took it down.
Yeah, I got rid of the bird feeder too! Still have hummingbird feeders though! Good pollinators!
Loved the tour Carmen, I don’t know which is my favorite but the crested echeveria is definitely in the top 5 along with the totem pole. Can’t wait for the spring to see what plans you have for the empty fairy pots💚🥰. Loved how Rosie photobombed the beginning of the video, she’s such a cutie💕🐶
She's gotta get in there some how. She actually loves the balcony She goes out there several times a day to make sure everything is ok and keep the birds and cats in check. 😄🌵
Thats a full time job😜😂
@@elizabethgreco-nieves3667 It is and that's why she's sound asleep in her bed next to me right now. Haha! Have a great Sunday Elizabeth!
Awww Rosie is a snuggle bug🐶thank you Carmen, you have a great rest of your Sunday☺️
Hi Carmen. Love your balcony and your plants. They look amazing. I don’t have many cacti or succulents. I only have 3 Christmas cactus, a rat tail cactus, 3 regular string of hearts, 2 variegated string of hearts, and string of Dolphins.
I have trouble keeping cactus alive. I am an overwatered.
You have a great collection so far! You can start with a small cactus and put a little note on it to help you not over water. Thanks for stopping by!
I adore your balcony cactus garden, love love. Love the gasteria plants and aloes. Who knew so many. You’ve inspired me for spring to buy more cacti. I have a lot of Christmas,Thanksgiving,Easter cactus. Those are my passion plus violets. Just starting to grow collection😊 Hello Ms. Nosey Rosie💕
Hi Joyce! So glad you're inspired, there are so many to choose from too. Yes, Ms. Rosie is very nosey.
I just watched your hanging your Stag horn fern video and then this video came up next. Fairly new subscriber but was wanting to see your balcony. Lovely collection. Definitely can't leave our cactus out in the Winter here in Canada 🤣 You're so lucky to live in a year round warm climate 🧡 Love your channel, it's friendly and I'm learning a lot 🙂
So glad you found me and are enjoying my videos. Welcome!
Use chopsticks for support..made of bamboo...can join two ..or three..with chord..gv support to tall plants...free bamboo
That's a great idea Sonia. I think I have a few around here. I always tell my daughter to bring me some when she goes to eat sushi. LOL!
Hello carman glad your doing well and staying. Safe I just wanted to give you some tips on how to keep your cactus and succulents looking their best I have yuccas and what I have learned is to fertilize with osmocote every 6 months and sprinkle about 6 spoonfuls of. Dolomite in your water you can also add some drops of super thrive in your water to remember for succulents and cactus nitrogen is key take care of yourself talk later
Thanks for the tips! I really appreciate them.
I wouldn't worry too much about your Domino cactus being a little wrinkled, some cacti wrinkle up a bit to get ready for winter, it's just a little dehydrated, but it'll be fine, come spring it'll perk right up...also, I think the cuttings of your unidentified cactus could be a Cylindropuntia imbricata, since it looks like the one I have, hopefully this is helpful, love the collection by the way, great video.
Thanks so much David for the cuttings ID. 😊😊
You have a great collection!! I got a bunch of dragon fruit seedlings I planted in August growing under my grow lights (they might became my Christmas gift this year 😂). Also got a couple of big star aloes that really need repotting and got my 1st euphorbia this week from ikea. Not sure if it's a trigona or not but I really hope so. I find them gorgeous! Thanks for the upload!
It sounds like your collection is really growing, that's great! Thanks for visiting.
That plant next to the agave your mother gave you cracks me up 🤣🤣🤣
Just when I think it's a goner, it starts growing. Sometimes I just let plants do their thing and see what happens. Thanks for watching Lorraine!
I am growing some to😭
That’s a really nice sized balcony for an apartment. Looks great, Carmen!
It is Roy. It's actually one of the reasons I chose this complex and the fact that it's east facing. Thanks for visiting!
Also Carmen you can buy some chelated iron buy the southern chelated iron off amazon it's only 10 or 11 dollars it has only chelated iron and sulphur in it you can use this as an foliar spray which we all know that while we have our plants inside for winter we might not have to water them so much but just use this on your iron starve plants just spray the leaves and use gloves after you spray put the plants that you have sprayed in the bathroom until they have dryer off I have read where plants absorb their ingredients at night take note don't spray your cactus with water or other because you will promote bright
🤩🤩🤩💝💝
There are so many kinds of aloe, do you think we could collect them all? You do have some odd aloes and cacti.... best wishes to you.
There's no way I'll even come close to collecting hundreds of Aloes, LOL! But, I do my part.
Hi! I dont know what you did to your patio maybe is the new set up but it looks much bigger than I recall.
I think it's because I moved some plants around and the umbrella isn't open. But, it is a big balcony, that's one of the things I love about my apartment.
Hi Carmen Whitehead! Question for you. You do so well with succulents, what is your soil mixture? Can you do a special on it?
I'm in the process of repotting my cacti and succulents to a new soil mix (Tank's Green Stuff Cacti & Succulent mix). The old mix is Miracle-Gro succulent mix with extra perlite and worm castings. I will be doing more cactus repotting videos in the early Spring. Hope this helps.
@@carmenwhitehead You're in a much warmer and drier climate. I'm in Ohio and here the Miracle Gro cactus mix doesn't work for my succulents I still get some root rot. I have to add to it....
All your 🌵look great. I notice you have no weeds, do you get them?.. My pots gets weeds, so many that’s it’s hard to keep up. tfs ❤️
No, actually I don't. The biggest nuisance are the birds and the pine tree. Thanks for stopping by Debra!
I enjoy all your videos.😊 question, what is a frost sheet?
It is a light, textured paper that you can put over your plants to protect them from freeze or frost. I have used bed sheets also, does the same job.
55 would be summer in the North😊. Beautiful cactus. So many that are different. How often do you water?
Right now I'm doing every 3-4 weeks. We haven't had any rain lately, but if we did I would back off even more.
@@carmenwhitehead Thank you.
The trouble with Pine? Dried Pine needles are used in the soil for aroids (aeration). Can try that...yes? Too many is a pain though.
Mulch!
Carmen I love that green cactus pot holder (the one where you commented you were too short to look up at the hanging pot?)Do you know where I could get one?
I found that one at the 99cents discount store.
Do you have any tips for elephant bush? I got my baby one in august, has not grown at all. 😅 I water once a week, and have them under a grow bulb.
I give mine natural sunlight and they seem to really like that. Also, once a week seems frequent. I water mine only when dry. Hope this helps.
Lovely tour of your balcony. Wish we could have plants outside, they would all freeze 🥶
I definitely love these Winters, it makes going through the Summer worth it.
Looking great out there.
Great video Carmen. You have a lot on your balcony. Love the ghost cactus. 💕
I haveto winter mine in house so echivarias streach on me and this spring and winter alot of my leaves on my climbing aloe so i dont know if i should top and testart or should i leave it and put plants to covet some of that stem plus it is so long it is snaking just above the table not up like it was with those leaves cause its end heavy. Any ideas
You could cut it and propagate the top by letting it callous over and then repotting. The bottom piece will give new growth.
I forget that Arizona can get cold. Lovely collection Carmen.
Thanks Sue, it's a work in progress, but I love them all.
Carmen do you leave them every winter outside and if its snow and how cold it gets their were you live
I live in Phoenix, so if it snows here then I know climate change is a for real! LOL! I do leave them outside for the Winter. I actually bring some in for the Summer because our Summers can be very harsh for some more tender succulents like Echeverias.
Saludos !
Esa is Dragon Fruit. Yo la cuido como una succulenta.
@@carmenwhitehead a bueno muchas Gracias Carmen !
Great video!! Can you please do a video on how you determine when water and your watering process?? I’m getting more into cactus
Great idea, I'll add that to my content calendar. Thanks!
Amazing Collection 😃 Maybe I missed it, but I thought you had Christmas Sleigh Aloe? Could of been on Nichole’s or Becca’s can’t remember 🤪
No, I don't have that one. I would love to though, it has great color. Thanks for watching Sherry!
@@carmenwhitehead I found one an it has babies. In spring I can send you one. 💚 it’s too cold in N.C. now to do anything. 😃
Love the video, hope to see different plants that way I learn their names. I have a lot of plants but I don't the names.🥺
Keep watching and hopefully I'll cover some that you have. Thanks for visiting.
I’m not at all familiar with cacti as I have none. Is cold or sun stress harmful?
No, as long as it's not too much and it depends on the succulent. For instance Echeverias don't like direct sun and they will burn instead. Thanks for stopping by.
You mentioned that you received your zebra haworthia from a subscriber, do you have a fan mail address?
I do plan on getting a PO box this coming week. I will be posting on my community tab once I have it.
@@carmenwhitehead that's great!
@@carmenwhitehead I have a type of aloe that is indestructible and it makes dozens of pups every year. I clean out the pups from the mother plant every year and give them away. I've been doing this for 15 years and it has gotten to the point that I have run out of people to give them to lol. I'd love to send you some in the spring.
@@bigweirdchick Thanks so much, that's really kind of you. I just reserved a PO box and will be picking up the keys this week. I do plan on sharing the address on my community tab. So stay tuned.
