If you don't want to crash and loose your drone next time: set the reference home point to your remote control and not to a certain GPS position ;) otherwise drones are acting very weird when started of moving objects. Cheers from Germany 🇩🇪
Awe, I love this video!!! I live in the US basically smack dab in the middle and have only seen the Atlantic, once from a North Carolina shore, in the middle of the night! Lmbo!! I liled seeing you go up river and out to sea, and of course those relics! Too bad they are not easily accessible and well kept, like a museum for visitors. What I liked even more was seeing the wildlife, so close and basically accessible to whomever dare and/or venture where you did in safety! I love animals. I have never been out of the States, and have only been besides driving through, in 5 States that I remember and 1 I was born in but left at 2 months old. I drove to NC from Oklahoma, but it was straight through and back to pick someone up, stuck out there, with a vehicle broke down, so it was no more visual that stop and eat and back on the road because I had to get there and back in one weekend, so no visual but Interstate 40...lol!!! So I don't really count having been to those drive through states.
Great video Harry, one word of advice is i would invest in a small 5 HP outboard as a backup auxillary engine, just in case of breakdown, it is one thing relying on the RNLI on a nice sunny day but if the weather takes a sudden turn for the worse and you are broken down they might not get to you in time.
There's power for lighting, you can visit them and go inside and look around one of them. Also, someone did live there for a month 14-15 years ago. Some artist...
There was a radio station that broadcast from here in the summers of 2007 & 2008. you can find more info on the Maunsell forts here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maunsell_Forts
They've been used for a couple of living art projects since the mid 2000s. Someone spent a month or two living there as an art piece on isolation. There's been a few ham radio projects as well, and there was even a project to restore some of the towers as a gallery / studio space. Some preperation works were actually done for the latter, which ultimately collapsed, but the infrastructure installed for it (a safe mooring point, access stairs, basic floor reinforcements, and the photovolatics IIRC) was what allowed the smaller projects to happen, as prior to that, no safe landing had been possible since the 1960s.
Spent the first 50 years of my life looking out at those forts from my home town of Whitstable. They are a bit like an old friend, somewhat reassuring. Understand from my late father that his brother was stationed out there during WW2 for a while manning one of the searchlights.
Great channel. I subscribed right away. As a teen in the early 1970's I had a inflatable raft, no motor. My trips I camped on the banks and floated downriver. After I stopped at an agreed place, my father would drive up. I loaded all the equipment and off for home. Loose the orange hat. You looked like Elmer Fudd with hair. I would do the around the UK in a second. Be safe, have fun.
Increase the performance and gas mileage of that glorified rubber raft, Bolt on a good quality foil on the cavitation plate of the motor. You'll get on a plane almost immediately and hold a plane with less throttle, and increase your speed. We've done this for over 20 years now on many different boats and they were All greatly improved.
Brilliant drone shots, great editing ... I love the line you tread between intrepid adventure and understated hilarity. I think you’re on to something with your speedboat series. Best of luck sailor. Bell on!
This seems like an extended test of the boat and, frankly a logical point to end the series. Perhaps, the next series should be about the various excursions in the boat? Up the river Thames would be nice.
Sitting on the Clair Ridge Platform watching this thinking how much these must of inspired the engineers to design and manufacture the oil platforms of today. Interesting stuff guys 👏🏽👏🏽
Man these are incredible. What an amazing piece of history to experience in person... really wish you could have gotten inside. Thanks for bringing us there.
One tip for you before you lift the anchor start the motor because you never know if it is going to start so you dont drift into something with your very nice restored boat. I loved the video btw.
Absolutely insane video, those towers look amazing! We’d love to go to a location like this and combine exploring something/somewhere abandoned and cliff jumping. They look perfect for jumping off 🤙🏽
Congratulations on taking the boat out and letting her stretch her legs. Beautiful video and nice choice of destinations. I'll have to root around and see what else is around there worth seeing!
Wonderful job on the restoration! I often wonder if the mileage on a boat like this could increased by mounting V shaped hydrofoils on the bottom of the boat hull thereby lifting it out of the water when adequate speed is produced resulting resulting in minimal hydraulic drag. However the engine would need to be mounted on a sliding bracket or movable mount that can lower the engine in the water as hydro plane is achieved.
Good for you , Great video. Bit surprised your not on the plane at 12 knots, I'm usually up on mine at around 8 or 9 knots. Its a slightly smaller boat but.........
Such an awesome and totally unique video - thanks for creating it and keep them coming! I had always wondered about the Red Sand Towers since I saw them on the 'Ignite' album cover by the New Zealand band 'Shihad' I'm actually amazed they survived WWII - I mean, they could have been wiped out completely by a couple Stuka dive-bombers - I guess they were not worth the ordnance and am glad they are still standing (hope to see them one day)
Glad it went well and engines now ok. You may want to consider bunging up the self filling hull. I did this on an sr4 recently. Should decrease fuel consumption as every time you boot it you wont be emptying the hull of water
I'm no psychologist but I suspect you saw them somewhere, in a picture or something, and you forgot you saw them and during a dream your deep subconscious dredged up that image.
There was a project to restore some of the towers as a studio space for art. The project folded, but some preperatory work was done, which was later used in smaller arts things and a ham radio mission. Someone spent a month living there as a living art study of isolation. If you look, you'll also notice that stairs and a mooring stage are also present on the same tower - again part of the original project prep work. They spent quite a bit of money before it folded.
Forgive me if I’ve missed some previous updates but what happened after Part 8 ?? Did you actually continue on with the challenge to circumnavigate the British Isles ?
I’ve been following this since I got my powerboat licence almost a year ago, I’ve wanted to see Redsands for absolutely years! I’ve seen people reach them on kayaks!
Excellent video and quality! i ended up to your channel after researching Avon ribs and i am glad i did! The honda 4stroke that you have on is a very good engine and i would have been surprised to see consumpion of more than 0,5 litres per nautical mile while cruising... Imagine that i have a mariner 75 2stroke on a 4,6meters boat and i dont burn more than 0,8 l/n.m (engine from 1989). Well done on this journey, can't wait for the next one!
At the bottom of the control tower on the sea floor is the main generator diesel . Some guys tried to pinch it as it would be a great boats engine , unfortunately the tackle failed and it plunged into the sea.
omg loved it. wish you could of got on to one of the towers. i'm hoping to do the same in my 15ft corcord speed boat but i live in Pembrokeshire so not that much to explore and mostly to choppy to get out out to sea. keep up the amazing work.
Really nice trip! Would love to make it to London in my little sailboat, and have a good ol' romp with the speedies, stuck in Amsterdam for now 😅 love your content. Cant wait for the next one
I'm glad I subscribed after watching you empty a ship of foam
jonny cwell oh mate, I hope you’ve watched the bicycle camper project!
After you've watched Harry watch Ben empty a ship of foam
I'm exactly the same haha
Me too!
Oh shit it's that channel? Glad I subscribed too.

You need to do some traveling

11:27 We can see power generation equipement on one of the towers, someone's living there!
i think it maybe more for weather monitoring or something i doubt very much anyone live there
There's power for lighting, you can visit them and go inside and look around one of them.

Good work buddy, love your edits, narration and subtle music. Top content!
Even the editing the music out as soon as they hit the wake. I love subtle comedy like that. Its brilliant!

What a smooth and gorgeous drone shoots. The rest of the video is stunning as well.🔥 Congratulations man, I'm a huge fan from Spain
Makes me think about the movie Waterworld!!
So true
This is awesome, I was a little late to the party and watched the first 7 episodes last night! Now episode 8 today... nailed it 👌
Great video! But....no engine killswitch lanyard? Great music too!
A classic boat from the year of my birth a sunny day and a trip out to some sea forts what a fantastic day out.

Nice show. I'm about to take my boat out there in a couple weeks.
Amazing they’re still standing after almost 80 years. One would think the metal base would have corroded and collapsed by now.
Sitting on the Clair Ridge Platform watching this thinking how much these must of inspired the engineers to design and manufacture the oil platforms of today. Interesting stuff guys 👏🏽👏🏽
I've always been intrigued with those abandoned sea fortresses. Thanks for posting this video! Very nice filming.
True adventure, I have 52f ketch, but somehow your boat, and what you do with it looks more fun. Hope I can watch you go around UK ...well...forever.
Man these are incredible. What an amazing piece of history to experience in person... really wish you could have gotten inside. Thanks for bringing us there.
Suncream in London, hillarious :)

Those new construction projects are stunning....there are cranes everywhere
In the Gulf of Mexico we fish off platforms like that. Surprised you didn't bring a rod!
This is one of the most enjoyable videos I have watched for a long time. Well filmed, good content. You should do more like this
Excellent, great drone photography...and great fun.
Once again a superb film, very well presented and interesting.
Love the series Dwyer. Quality quarantine viewing.
That was fun! Thank You from Florida USA!

The engine fall appart? No way! It's an Honda! Great videos thank you!! :)
I was going to say that thing has a 4-stroke Honda on it those things sip fuel compared to an older 2 stroke
Yuck how can that be when they are burning oil?
This is about time someone done this.
Your next project should be uk to new york by that little boat! It would be the adventure of the century!
Wonderful job on the restoration!

Look at all that extra fuel they were carrying.
Awesome video. They should do something with those. Make it a hotel and a museum and do tours. Better than having it rust away like that.
I did an almost identical trip back in the 70s - from Barking Creek, in an 8 foot inflatable (not a RIB). This was before the barrier existed.
Such an awesome and totally unique video - thanks for creating it and keep them coming!
I had always wondered about the Red Sand Towers since I saw them on the 'Ignite' album cover by the New Zealand band 'Shihad'
I'm actually amazed they survived WWII - I mean, they could have been wiped out completely by a couple Stuka dive-bombers - I guess they were not worth the ordnance and am glad they are still standing (hope to see them one day)
That's an ambitiously long trip in a relatively small boat. Looked like fun!
What a fantastic day out, and great footage!
Great to see another video finally! Please more!
Stunning photography and two great stories of the Maunsell army forts and the boat. Nice one
Wicked video Harry. Brilliant from start to finish!
Great trip when is part 8 of round the uk
I love your videos, thanks for the good content
1ltr per mile to non-boaty types may seem ridiculous. My boat does a bit under 1mpg!
11:28 is that a solar panel and wind turbine up there?
both, maybe for somekind of forecast station or something
Your channel is criminally underrated. Always quality.
The drone work is just epic. What a great location.
at 11:27 you can see a solar panel, a wind turbine and a radio antenna on one of the towers, as well as a barred entry.... so one of them IS in use...
Glad it went well and engines now ok. You may want to consider bunging up the self filling hull. I did this on an sr4 recently. Should decrease fuel consumption as every time you boot it you wont be emptying the hull of water
Great videos. What make of rib is that, where can I get one ?
Awesome video. Would have loved to see inside those things. And decent fuel consumption to boot!
ua-cam.com/video/TmaPyJtGCf8/v-deo.html
Fantastic guys!!
There was a modern wind generator on one of those war units! Love the boat and what you have done to it. Great video
Fabulous Aerial footage . Great cinematic movement in it .
I don't know why, but i had a dream once and i was at a place at sea that looked EXACTLY like this
same
@@stellarwind22 thats exactly what i thought!

Random Roughneck they are also in stranded deep
Random Roughneck no
What is in the one with the wind turbine and solar and antenna

Got to have power on towers .Navy lights ect

19:38 Best part
Very cool trip! What a great place to pleasure boat! Beats my large lake NE of Atlanta Georgia.
The drone shots are top notch 👍🏾
Amazing work Harry, I’ve been waiting for the next video in this series!
Out on open water with a single motor!? Awesome trip, but that's a really silly thing to do!
people do that all the time here in the united states , in miami. yeah i wouldnt go too far without a back up outboard lol
@@chronicawareness9986 my dad dose it on the Oregon coast... It scares me
Atleast he had a radio
Yessss I’ve heard about this on Wikipedia and always wanted to see them properly. Subscribed yesterday and I have not been disappointed

Is 2miles per litre what you would expect from an outboard like this? That’s 7.5mpg which seems heavy?
Absolutely fantastic, really enjoyed that trip.
What a fantastic trip. You're an inspiration. Nice one.
your vids are the best upload more please
Thanks for filming
why is there solar and a windgenerator on one of the roofs at the Sea Fortress?
Start at 8:40.
Thank you for exciting video!
Wonderful stuff, looks like an amazing day out. And to top it off a snippet of Ben
What an amazing journey. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Brilliant video, all the amazing places the boat can now take you 👍🏻
No mention of the solar panel and wind turbine units on top of one tower?
Brilliant vid man thank you. Those Pathé news clips are more expensive than I would have thought 😅
Awesome video matey 👍 I live along the Thames and find all the history fascinating 👌
Awsome boat and movie!!
Greetings from Sweden!
Very enjoyable video, well done! The gasp at 13:09 cracked me up :)
Even I didn't know the towers where out there in the sea. Learn something new everyday

Amazing. It is on my bucket list to see those towers. Are there readily available boat tours form London or beyond to view them?
Featured in the Secret Agent episode "The Not so Jolly Roger". The gangways between the pods were still in place in 1966 :-)
