I just wanna add, for funsies, that the XCX DE trailer was also trending #3 when I saw it a few hours after it released. Not Gaming trending. Regular trending.
Oh God. This could be amazing - another surge forth for the Xenoblade series?
for real?
Yea, I wanted to shed a tear
Still remember how heavily criticized XCX was back on its original release, simply because of how much it was different from XC1. People also heavily disliked some of the music, especially NLA. I'm very happy to see the general consensus being a lot more positive about the game finally. It's an amazing title that did its own thing and is to this day my personal favorite game of all time. Can't wait to relive Mira again soon.
I'd still argue all of those criticisms are still valid. If the game would have spent less time on overly complex MMO quest chains, and more on having an actual interesting story, then I could forgive it. It literally only started to become interesting in the final cutscenes. They did a cliffhanger at a point where it finally started to feel like a Xenogame. It's the most letdown I've ever been by a game. And yes, the music was really bad. Sawano can make great epic music. Unfortunately he put all of the most non traditional weird music choices he could think of. I'm always against recurring looping music in games when they have a vocal track. He did that for the three most played music tracks in the entire game. If he had just copy pasted anything from Gundam Unicorn or AoT (for the most part), I wouldn't be complaining. But instead he went weird with it, and it rubbed me the wrong way.
If they can actually improve the storytelling throughout and beyond the ending of the original, maybe they could save this game for me, but it isn't going to fix Black Tar.
NLA Soundtrack Slaps
@@El-Duderino-His-Dudeness The "overly complex MMO quest chains" WERE the story, and frankly the game was better for it. I understand that you didn't like it, but on its own merits it's actually really good.
Ppl be complaining on release then be praising it 10 years later
Am I right Wind Waker
There is no other game that have mech roaming around in the world full of lava, cave, water glowing forest and killing giant monster. even the game like Daemon X Machina and Armored Core is only based on mission
I think the biggest factor is how you can exit your mech like how you exit your car in GTA. It really helps with showing the scale of the mechs. It's my biggest gripe with armoured core tbh, the mechs don't feel like big robots.
There's also an entire continent made of pollen.
And a desert formed by an exploded spaceship.
Massive open world JRPG!!
Rideable mechs THAT TRANSFORM!!! (We're not just getting teased with mechs like we did in Xenosaga and Xenoblade 1,2,3 we actually get to ride them again like in Xenogears!!!)
Hiroyuki Sawano music!!!!!!
I think one important distinction to make is that for all of the other games, the trailer would’ve also appeared in a Nintendo direct, and a lot of people (myself included) would have seen the trailer in the direct, rather than the standalone trailer posting. Xenoblade X DE wasn’t part of a direct, so that could be inflating the numbers a bit.
That being said, the original is my favourite game of all time, and I’m excited to see how well X DE does on a console that people actually own!
I hope for either a setup for a sequel in the best case, or at worst, a more definitive ending.
Whats cool about X is it helped form a lot of other creations. Sawano's work on the soundtrack is cited as the project that formed the basis for all his soundtracks that followed it, and of course, Monolith's experience designing this open world is what lead to breath of the wild being the game it was.
The biggest thing with XCX is that people need to realize it is very different than the numbered games. While it does have a story, and a rather intriguing one, to me at least, it is hardly the main focus. The game is far more about exploring the world and discovering things. If people go in expecting a strong, focused narrative focus like the other games, they will be sorely disappointed. That is kind of what led to its rather bad reception from some XC1 fans on the Wii U version.
It makes sense. The game not once makes your character a "hero" or someone of high importance. You're just like everyone else, trying to make the most of a weird new world you have to call home. Because of this the main story feels arguably the most disjointed part because it's more "Elma's" story. The side quests however really put your characters roll into full perspective. Heck I still remember that side quest at the water testing facility. That one will always live rent free in my head
@BlaizeTheDragon not until I start Starfall rondoing Titanic beasts and one shotting them with German music in the background 😂
Not only is X a perfect jumping in point for new players of the series, but the Klaus saga finished with Future Redeemed so EVERY Xenoblade fan is focused on X now and even a lot of the fans who didn’t like the direction X was going in are more excited to play this with the new story content and the possible implications for future Xenoblade games.
It’s also a great marketing strategy to have X appear after the smaller scaled numbered entries because the “X” in Xenoblade X basically stands for eXtra, a larger version of the Xenoblade exploration and gameplay that you know and love from 1-3.
Finishing up the Klaus Saga on Switch and then ending the Switch with X not only allows the maximum amount of sales for X but it also allows X to stay fresh in the minds of Nintendo fans as Switch 2 comes out so it becomes expected that X gets a huge beautiful sequel on Switch 2 as more and more people buy a Switch 2 and play X in better graphics and better fps with the more powerful system.
X stands for cross

I know, but it works for the purpose of what I was talking about.
Love the video ! You got my sub
What a diamond in the rough you are. Wonderful video.
00:00 I would listen to that 12 hours... Nice video!
Do it!
We listen.
I loved this game back in the day. I hope they can tighten it upjust a tad, but overall, I'm just excited to play it on the switch finally. Gonna miss the map on the second screen though.
I always say it even tho i know it would never happen but if they ever nake a XCX2 they need to bring Sawano and Penkin together to make the OST cause it is right up their alley.
I'm another type of fan. A fan of Xenogears and Xenosaga who saw more of the "next level" in Xenoblade Chronicles X than the other three Xenoblade games. It's not that I don't like the linear narrative approach, it's mainly that Xenosaga already gave us this, and Xenogears gave us an organic character driven and fleshed out version of Xenoblade Chronicles (which is a reimagining of a Fei and Elly's story from. Xenogears, with less complexity of story and emotion). On the other hand, Xenoblade Chronicles had a beautiful world unlike anything I'd seen before. Final Fantasy games and Skies of Arcadia were the only games that even came close. Xenogears had an amazing world too, but the technology wasn't there to show it - and the resources aren't there to properly show it now (considering the sprawling Metropoli of Solaris, Bledavik, and Nortune would all translate to NLA scale cities or Novigrad if you played Witcher but not Xenoblade Chronicles X; not to mention Shevat and Nisan, which are also quite large probably Oxenfurt from Witcher 3 or bigger).
Xenoblade Chronicles X, why I loved it, was it did everything I loved about Xenoblade Chronicles better, and it showed the potential for a Xenogears remake by showing they could actually build a world to the scale of Xenogears in modern 3D. Xenogears would be larger, but if XCX can be done, Xenogears can be done. I think Xenogears needs an open world type experience, although it would be a growing open world rather than dumping the player with the whole thing open immediately. Xenogears expanded over time, you start out in the tutorial area, then you have access to most of the main continent, and then it expands more and more as the story progresses - unlike Xenoblade/Xenosaga, the story continues in the opened up areas, rather than just pushing onto the next location - so Xenogears feels a bit like a mix of open world and linear - even though the plot unfolds in a linear fashion... the end is very linear. But the storytelling in Xenogears is character driven rather than plot device driven, What I mean by that is:
Shulk - Hometown attacked by giant Mecha. He seizes the weapon and attacks them, but sees his crush killed by Metalface, and the revenge motive served as a plot device to take him and his best friend through the entire Bionis, where they would meet other friends throughout the world on his way to solve his objective.
Fei - Hometown attacked by giant Mecha. He seizes the weapon and attacks them, but goes out of control accidentally kills both his crush and his best friend. So, lost in guilt, he abandons the village and does his best to get the weapon as far as possible from the village to prevent more mechas from attacking. On the way, he meets up with Elly (who post-death Fiora is largely based on) and Elly was the one responsible for the battle that occurred in the village, but doesn't want Fei to know her responsibility - there is a lot of conflict between the two as they grieve in their guilt. The elements that develop the characters drives their decisions which drives the plot.
That's not to say Xenoblade Chronicles doesn't have great characters, it's just it's not really a character driving the story so much as a big goal/plot device that is. Another way of looking at the structure of a plot device driven story is pastry cooked in a mold, while a character driven story is bread or cake that rises into its own shape. Both are fine, one has a more defined shape, the other has more complexity and texture.
True , XCX is just so different and unique that XCXDE now has the potential to draw in a lot more people across different fanbases , like Mech fans (like myself) or fans of Online games. Or people that just didnt really care about what XC 1 2 3 was about , and only cared about actually good and fast paced gameplay.
The Criticism back in 2015 was crazy, bad story bad soundtrack
no tutorials but we are Definitely Surpassing all Previous Sales on the Wii U and also the Trailers it's only a Matter of time there's nothing the Xenoblade fans can't do when it comes to old versions of Xenoblade so happy this will have a 2nd chance and succeed.
I am hyped for this podcast
Yup. This Wii-U game was gorgeous and amazing for its time. Despite its troubled development phase.
And here, Pokemon is struggling to make a game that passes the bar as "decent" on the next gen console. Blaming the hardware for their clear lack of talent/effort.
Anywho, DEFINITELY playing this and I PRAY this encourages Monolith to FINALLY make a sequel to this game. That cliffhanger ending has left me blue balled since I finished it for the first time. XD
The best open world game of all time now portable. Look at the phrase I just wrote. And it's real. Absolutely unbelievable. See you all in the online squad missions, if you want to recruit me my build will be focused on breaking enemy parts for drops since that's a neglected niche.
Monolith soft proving they're the monolith (pillar) of Nintendo
Monolith HARD more like it, cause they go so freaking hard!!
I have beat all Xeno prefix games. X is one of the best! We need X2 or Y.... that's what I want🎉
Xenoblade Chronicles X can be the starting point of another arc, since X3 futur redeemed finish the story arc. i will not be surprised to learn that after this for the switch 2 xenoblades Chronicles X 2 is announced.
ps: X is really insane as game, did spend countless hours into it on wii u and can't wait to have time to spend as much time in this one. without forget the game have multiplayer, i hope they will develop it more in this version.
Personally it doesn't feel like xc3 is the end of an arc but I'm more of a part 1 to the Klaus arc. I am making the assumption they are trying to make some corrections so that xcx can take place within the great Xenoblade timeline so I don't think xcx2 will come in till after a few games a released if at all. That said they very well could pull the Xbx universe is another parallel xc1 and 2 in which case I guess another one would be needed sooner rather than later.
I still think X is a sequel to the original trilogy, with Saga happening alongside it and the eventual Xenoblade Chronicles 4 being the missing link between the Klaus Saga, the Shion Saga, and what comes after. Dunno, tho. I might just be cray cray
I kinda think XC4 and X2 may be combined to one game if they are to tie the games together
This game suffered so much for being locked on a console that nobody wanted. That was all gimmick and last game. The fact that this game is the only game I own on that system is proof of that.
I would freak out if we saw a monado in xenoblade x definitive edition
Tatstu's Monado
I need it for pc man. I'm done playing these games on switch.
Views mean nothing, I watched it just to decide I didn't like it as I am sure others did the same. Now I will buy it to support them but doubt i'll make it to the end. My fav by far is 2 The story was amazing but lacked for sure and I personally hate all the mechs and 2 didn't have a bunch. 3 was ok but really felt a rerun downgrade of 2 imho. They need to branch this game and do a Mech style and one like 2 see how that goes.
Staring shulk as the mc
Well, I can see that whenever and if ever, Gears and Saga get ported over, they'll won't be as popular compared to the Chronicle games.
Both of these games are the babies of Chronicles. Without them, there would be no Chronicles.
Where’s the intro music from? Tell me
What do you mean on a system that doesn’t have 1GB RAM ? The Wii U had 2GB of ram and the switch has 4GB. Are you talking about the fist game on the Wii ?
The Wii U only allocated 1GB of RAM for games.
@@fnlwpn Oh you are 100% right I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know. So much wasted opportunity there. More RAM for games would have been nice.
I like the Wii U version best.
It can't be that good if it doesn't have pyra on it.
I've played all the Xenoblade games on the Switch. Ngl, the ugly protag in the X trailer made me not wanna play 😅 He looks so out of place! Glad to hear there's a character creator
Ngl they went with the least appealing creator options, its definitely better and anime-like in the options
Yeah the custom character is what makes x the best
*panting*
Nintendo....

omg just get to the point...why do youtuber like you feel the need to stretch out your word usage like you're trying to fulfill a minimum word count for a 5th grade essay?
I'm not even 3 minutes in yet, and you've said how "Xenoblade X DE could be the most important in the series" at least 4 times
