When I first heard this song, it was my 16th birthday, the 3rd day of school, back from summer break, my senior year 1990, and I was tripping my balls off. My best friend had just come back from San Francisco to check out the San Francisco Art Institute where he'd be going to college. He brought back some LSD and the just released Primus album Frizzle Fry for my birthday present. We ditched classes almost all day just so we could go listen to this album, especially this song in his car over and over and over and over and... Also listened to the new Jane's Addiction Ritual de lo Habitual in another great friend's car (sadly she passed on soon after high school 😥) and never was the same again!!! No one really knew what this band looked like unless you were a die hard fan from the Bay Area, but in San Diego, they were unheard of, and like I mentioned, unseen. I pictured this little woodland creature band playing on wooden style instruments with an elderly Elvish cat on vocals. No idea the singer was also the bassist, which was a rarity back then. Next few days I scoured every record store around (The Wherehouse, Tower Records) I could to find their only other release, their live effort Suck On This! And got to hear where they got the intro to this song from. Rush's YYZ
Hey bro, sounds great. I wanted to ask you about your bass. It's not a carl thompson but it looks great, similar to Les'. But yea, what brand/model; is it.
Thanks! I messed with some of the links, and everything appears to be working. The tabs are hosted on Mega, so you can preview them on desktop, but you may have to download them first if you're on mobile. Let me know if it's working now...
Thanks! The tone was all the bass and POD lined directly into my PC. Unfortunately, I don't remember the settings I used for the POD, as I sold it several years ago.
Sorry, I would, but I sold the POD a few years ago! Funny that it was designed more for guitar, but it could definitely give a good bass tone with some tweaking.
Very hard song to play, great job man! Btw this isn't a criticism just an observation. That bass looks really uncomfortable to play sitting down. It's like stabbing into your leg. Not your fault but man that looks painful.

This is such a cool story and damn, I wish i could have one luke this
@@smithmcgruder5110 such fun times for music!!
That intro is so much harder than it looks. Such a great cover man
Definitely.
That fucking stretch from 5th to 9th, man.
Can't bear it, i'll get tendonitis before i make that stretch consistently
@@darkySp I’ve just mastered the intro and I feel like god
@@darkySp it definitely sucks. I suspect that it's a little easier on a piccolo bass
@@darkySpevery time I play this song I just change it from 5 and 9 to 5 and 7
This man’s pinky is a menace
I hardly see a decent Pimus bass cover, congrats mate!
Les is hard to mimic that’s for sure
Lol 😂 was that a LONG overdue reply to Keremcan Buyukaakin? UA-cam can be like sending radio signals into outer space 🪐 sometimes!
You’re a phenomenal bass player my dude, I hope you’re keeping it up still.
Sounds just like Les's unique bass style and tone. Also great shirt, probably my favourite concept album of all time. Awesome cover 🤘
Great cover dude, spot on. Also, I love that bass!
Almost perfect except for the last riff.
This is my favorite Primus bass riff. You did an awesome job!!!

Alltime great bassline and song, well done
This is the best bass cover of this song ive seen so far. good job.
Great strumming. I mean, it 's flawless

This is great because the intro is a false beginning of Rush’s ‘YYZ’ haha
Absolutely spot on, great job!

les claypool has the same bass
Hell yeah man !!! GREAT JOB!!!
Sick Rush shirt man. Sadly I didn't see them on the clockwork angels tour, but I did see them twice on the r40 tour.

Hey bro, sounds great. I wanted to ask you about your bass. It's not a carl thompson but it looks great, similar to Les'. But yea, what brand/model; is it.
I bought this bass from a collector, who said it was built by the previous owner. As far as I know, it's one of a kind!
what kind of strings do you use?
очень чисто
It's a Carl Thompson bass, just like what Les plays.
Nice
Rockin
For the chords of the main riff, are you barring the 6th and 7th on the d and g string?
Yes, that's correct.
That bass
Nice job. how do i view the tab on your site? its just blank when i click on it

@@Shinsen88Music awesome it works now. Thank you.
Fuck yea
Nice job
Is that a ct bass
Can’t see head stock
Scroll looks like it
I wish! Hahaha. It's sort of a tribute bass, but is not a real CT. Thanks for watching!
damnn is that bass custom?
I have to ask but how did you nail that tone and also great cover
Thanks! The tone was all the bass and POD lined directly into my PC. Unfortunately, I don't remember the settings I used for the POD, as I sold it several years ago.
Hey man, I'd love it if you showed the exact presets (or close to it) of your Line-6 POD 2.0 for this song, I really love the tone.
Sorry, I would, but I sold the POD a few years ago! Funny that it was designed more for guitar, but it could definitely give a good bass tone with some tweaking.
@@Shinsen88Music Eh, it's fine. I could tweak it to my own standards if I bought one.
is that a ct bass if it is omg
DEEEEEECENT
Very hard song to play, great job man!
Btw this isn't a criticism just an observation. That bass looks really uncomfortable to play sitting down. It's like stabbing into your leg. Not your fault but man that looks painful.
What kind of wood is that ?
It's an ebony top and fretboard. I bought this one second-hand a long time ago and honestly can't remember what the other woods are.
YYZ
Who made that Bass
Willy wonka
Nice shirt
do more primus
I’ll buy that off you for 20$ and a peppermint right now
Tabs :c?
Look them up if you want tabs. He don't work for you.
claps. Very nice but the pointing, the left hand one minus note
what effects are you using?
There might have been a tiny bit of reverb, but other than that, no effects.
Primus sucks!
PRIMUS SUCKS!
