  • Here is Ciss Fanning and Kitty Caulfield telling me all about The May Bush in Grantstown Daycare Centre a few weeks ago. Every corner of Wexford put up the May Bush and the date everyone did it was on May Eve (30th of April) or May Day (1st of May). That was the turning point from Spring to Summer and it was put up to for luck and to keep the pisheógs and 'the fairies' away. The two women used a furze bush and these were as popular as the whitethorn here in Wexford. The clip is only short and worth a listen of you want to learn about the tradition from good sources.
