I heard Lea sing as Eponine in 1987 at the auditorium theatre Chicago, and it changed my life. It began a life of love for the theatre and now my daughter has played a part in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor at the paramount theatre. Thank you Lea for taking my path to this direction.
@@lachlangmbh8947 fool.why would u oppose to his opinion when evryone is entitled to his/her own opinion? Idiot.. I may as well say that indeed, Lea, is incomparale.. And that is my preference.. So do you think you have the right to question our own opinion?.. You are just jealous if i may know..
Miss Lea Salonga, you deserve an Oscar award for your talent. I've heard other musicians, and very few could easily sang as beautifully as you. You sang with talent and you also put your heart into it.
Squiggle1212 IT'S TRUE. It's not about the high notes nor the fame but the musicality and STRENGTH of the voice. Musicality means, if you're on key everytime while expressing the emotions of the song. Emotions, yes, most Filipino singers have that but some are not consistent with their intonation. And Strength my dear is something that I don't think most singers have even in the Philippines. Let those proclaimed divas perform 8 emotional songs on stage for about 7-14 times a week in atleast 2 consiecutive months with the lyrics being switched everyday and tell me who can do it without retakes? Lea can, she's still doing it. She almost lost her voice but was able manage it eventually.
What's wrong with his comment at bakit nanggagalaiti ka? Tama naman si lea naman talaga ang dabest na singer na nanggaling sa Pilipinas so ano ang mali dun?
I played Eponine's understudy in our play here. Which for me being 17 and the other cast members being 25, it was an honor. And this song, On My Own, has became my anthem. It will never get old. :)
This girl, now woman, is the pride of the Philippines. Her great success has not spoilt her humility, which makes her even more beautiful. She is still so cute! May God keep blessing you!!!
@elle's ุ What particular songs of hers were popular during 2004? I was born in 2001 and I first heard her name during discussions (probably around 2007) but I have completely forgotten what it was all about
As a Filipino, I am grateful for all the blessings and opportunities given to such a talented lady. She inspires to do more in the gifts I have been given.
her songs are not just memrable after all these years but also worth looking back...esp the miss saigon & alladins. plus the way she expressed her songs was so brilliant. 😊
She’s very different from all the professional singers in the globe... her very clean voice and diction, her face expressions, very smooth and soothing to the bones. I’ve never heard this voice in music industry internationally...very powerful voice
"The one thing that I can say I have created with my husband, is obviously my daughter." OHMYGOD This line!❤ I cannot even believe she said that! xD Wow.
This story of Ms Saigon actually happened also in real life of a Filipina,, and i know Ms Leah gave her best since she is familiar with this kind of story. Her IQ is beyond compare. You cannot be singing a song in a play without understanding emotion and delivery. English proficiency and familiarity helps her and her talent completed the whole package. SHE IS LEAH SALONGA, no one can be like her. I am thankful for carrying the whole country and not just the flag.
Oh Lea, you are such a gift to us who love to sing. You brought my eyes into tears while listening to your story. But hey, you are an inspiration for us... forever.
No matter how old you are or who you are to hear and feel and this beauty, makes life wash over you it is a beautiful experience lifts me up gives me every emotion of the performance. What a wonderful gifted human. I am thankful.
Dont know if Philippines could still replicate the kind that she is and the achievements that she got... As well as the discipline & the passion that she has. Gifted Lea! May ypu offer that life & gift of yours to the Giver!
I am so impressed ,,subconsciously Leah knows what she wants and how far she can go,, and having that kind of power is the secret of success..She basically knows who she is and Leah must appreciate her Mom n dad for that coz its not only the experience it is the breeding :)
I hope that in the nearer future, I can write film history for my home country (Luxembourg, Europe) as well. I am an actor and I am studying acting as a bachelor degree in the UK. My biggest dream is to win one day an Oscar❤️ I also have the dream to work one day for disney (I am a disney junkie), Universal, Warner Bros, Paramount, etc. I want to make proud my family, my friends and my home country🇱🇺
This is my first introduction to her. As a half Filipina, who grew up in Illinois, I was shocked to hear her speaking voice. I thought for sure she grew up abroad at first. I'm way too used to anyone who grew up in the Philippines having some sort of Filipino accent no matter how hard they try not to.
Filipinos who are born and raised in the Philippines have accents, ofcourse, but the thickness differs depending on what region you are from and what dialect you are speaking. Those who have the thickest accents are usually from the southernmost part where they speak Visaya, unless you studied from an exclusive school where you get a good training which usually expensive. You see, how well off you are in the Philippines reflect on how u carry yourself. But there are also those who come from the north and yet they have thick accents.....it comes down to what you can afford as far as schools are concerned. Because in the Philippines, if you dont have the money, you cant go to school cuz its not free. There are also schools there who are for the poor, the middle class and the elite.
+iam1moe you can just attribute it on attention to detail. It is different for everybody, I know somebody who didnt speak any english in his home country but will have no trace of accent in his english just after a few years. You can see this with kids most of the time.
They are far from middle class, his dad was a rear admiral in the Coast Guard and owned a ship building company which is why she stayed in Angeles for her childhood. now downplaying her achievements, she is truly great .
Who do filipinos hate her? I mean not all, but most of filipinos belittle her and try to destroy her accomplishments? I mean she is if not the best singer that came from the Philippines. We should be proud, Filipino na nga yung tao hindi pa sinusuportahan ng kapwang filipino.
Nivri 360 i think most of the pilipino now don't have no idea how huge her achievements are, i mean how many pinogs know she got a tony award way back? Thinking back, she has all the right to complain of our degrading music industry, on how a pretty face with lesser singing talent could gather an audience.
there are lot talented singers in the philippines.. thing is it depends in their own destiny like lea.. she is really destined to shine internationally.. other great singers in the philippines were not so lucky to have a chance or opportunity like this..but believe me.. there are a lot of great singers in the phil.
For adults? Girl, I wasn't even born when Aladdin came out I was 6 when Mulan came out. But I grew up with those movies. I'm about to be 25 years old. Adults in this era are the kids of the 90s.

1987 is the wrong date. First she was only 15 that year. Second her first casting was Miss Saigon 1989. She was hired for Les Miz until the 90s

Totally agree! 💯

It was so brave and confident of Lea to have chosen Eponine’s song. She would definitely get the job with that song.
Ms. Lea is the reason why I am pursuing theatre. She inspires me so much.❤
Lea is an artistic treasure for the entire world! She will be log remembered for her beauty, incredible voice and artistic integrity.

Lea Salonga is the best singer that came out of the Philippines
Squiggle1212 but Leah is incredibly amazing. We had many great singers but she very well could be the best. She's that awesome.
Squiggle1212 How was his/her opinion connected to crab mentality? Besides it's his or her opinion. Keep yours to yourself.
Squiggle1212 IT'S TRUE. It's not about the high notes nor the fame but the musicality and STRENGTH of the voice. 🎵allfodatmusic🎵 Yeah, my mom's been here 28 years and has an obvious accent.
It is common for middle class Filipinos to speak good English. English is even their first language they just learn filipino at school as a subject.
