Easy Crochet Pumpkin Tutorial - Dollar Tree DIY - Fall DIY - How To Crochet a Pumpkin
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- It is almost the time of the year to start thinking about Fall decorating. This year, I spent my summer crocheting pumpkins for my friends. It is such an easy project and you can do it while traveling or watching TV (which is what I did!). Create your own size and have fun with it!
As an example, for chain 20 pumpkin, I would make it 30 rows, for chain 30 I would make 42 rows, for chain 15, I would make 25 rows.
Pumpkins come in different shapes and size so you can't go wrong with it.
Hope you enjoy the tutorial and let me know if you decided to give it a try!

Oh my goodness, I was so excited to see this video!! The sweater pumpkins seem to be a hot item this year but they are usually really expensive or you can't find them! I absolutely love to crochet and I just finished making an afghan for my daughter and I was looking for a smaller project to do and this is perfect!!!! Thank you so much for this video!!! Big hugs 🙂
I'm so happy you like it! These come together soooooo quick! I made a bunch for my friends in their colors. Just so , so fun. Let me know how they come out! Its hdc stitch all the way. Hugs!
Thank you! I learned a few new skills. I soo appreciate that method of joining! Headed to get some yarn for my
Pumpkins!
Glad to enjoyed the video, Chelsea! I love the method of joining pumpkins! It is so easy and effective! Have fun creating your pumpkins!Hugs
i LOVE the embellishments you have on your pumpkins. So very cute!!
After seeing these at a craft fair a few years ago I fell in love, and decided to make some. When I decorated my station at work my coworkers asked where I got them, and then wanted to buy some from me. I was making them like crazy lol They really do go quick. I love that you added the lines in the pattern. I hadn’t learned that technique, and it’s so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing!
Oh how fun, Leslie! Share the fall spirit with others! And these cuties are not cheap in the store either! I made a bunch while traveling in a car over the summer and i was amazed how quickly they were coming together. So happy you are having fun making them! Have a beautiful fall, my friend! Hugs
Love every minute of your tutorial and I love these pumpkins!
Thank you so much, my dear friend! They are so addicting to make! I made so many of them this year! Thank you so much for watching! Hugs
Very, very nice, thank you for great instructions and sharing your work and ideas. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this tutorial, this is my favorite crochet pumpkin so far coz the way you did the 6 lines or whatever it’s called in the end makes it look like an actual pumpkin. I’m currently making a white one then orange one after that. I need to make 6 to decorate a table at an event in few days very quick to make
I can't wait to make these! What a great idea!
You will love them, Hailey! Its such fun project!
You are a great instructor! I made some from more difficult patterns & I love how easy & simple your pattern is! I want to make various colors, textures & sizes for Autumn decorations & gifts. I used some curlicues from a craft grape vine wreath that I already had around the house & some leaves from another wreath. Thanks for this idea! 🎃🧶👍
Thank you so much, Jennifer! i so appreciate your kind works. This project was just beyond fun! Now only can you do it while watching tv or on long trips in a car but it is so simple and versatile. Like you said, creating different textures, colors and sizes is so fun. I made them as gifts and everyone absolutely loved them. I am so super excited that you will give it a try. Beware.... they are very addicting and once you make one you will notice that you turn into pumpkin spitting machine like i did! ha, ha! Have a beautiful day, my friend! Hugs
So cute….I can’t wait to make some. Using DT materials is a great idea too..
Thank you so much! And I love DT!!
Cant wait to try this pattern, so easy and super cute. Adorable and adaptable. Thanks
Let me know, Jo, how you like it. This stitch is versatile. I made a hat in my recent videos using it and it came out great as well.
Great video! I love your relaxed, carefree approach to make no these! They are so cute! I’m on a pumpkin kick so this tutorial is wonderful! Thanks for sharing!😊🤗
Thank you so much Thea! I'm on a pumpkin kick as well! They are so fun! And these cuties make such great gift! Hugs
You’re very welcome!😊
I am new to crocheting and was so excited to make a pumpkin! If I was able to follow your directions so can anyone! Thank you!
Ooooooooo I am so happy you were able to follow directions! I want to make sure that this project is even for those who are not experts in crocheting! These are so fun, aren't they!? I made gourds this year and a squash to add to the collection. Have a beautiful day my friend!
Really nice, thank you for sharing. I like to put some spices in mine also, the smell of fall cooking, and like you said you can fill the pumpkins with almost anything, old pantyhose, old clothes. Love pumpkins, love fall. Thanks for all the great ideas.
Spices are such great idea! In the beginning I used cinnamon sticks instead of wood pieces but I simply was not getting enough of the smell and cinnamon is expensive so I didn't want to waste it. But making them scented, especially with the holiday scents, is absolutely brilliant! Hugs
Thanks for such a fun and easy project!
Thank you, Jackie! Hope you have opportunity to try it.
@@athomewithjoanna7410 I'm working on one now!
I wish my hands didn’t have carpal tunnel and pain because I miss crocheting so so much, I spent more time dropping my hook and looking for it, then I did with crocheting. It stinks. These are adorable. Tfs hugs from AV
ohhh, my sweet friend, I am so sorry to hear that!! I get pain in my hand if I do it too long but at least I can do it for a little bit here and there. There are other crafts that you can take up and will bring you joy! Hugs
VERY BEAUTIFUL! LOVE YOU LAUGHS!
Thank you so much, Judith! I am so happy you like the project! Hugs
I'm using an old over stuffed pillow too 😁 I thought I had stuffing ,but don't, and I use old twiggs/ branches from my yard for the steam . Thank you for your tutorial ❣️❣️❣️
Yes, old pillows are perfect!! And a perfect example why I don't like to throw things away! ha,ha! Twigs and branches make it more rustic and I bet they look beautiful!
I love these! I can’t wait to make some😃
Thank you, Michelle! You will not believe how quick they come together! Good luck! Hugs
Great easy pattern. Shared
Thank you so much, Jillian!
So cute! I’m making some!
Thank you so much, Belinda! I have given so many away already this year! So fun to make! Have a great weekend, my friend!
Suer cute! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much!
These are adorable!.Love your tutorial..so easy to follow and you explain so well...Tfs!🍁🎃🍂
Thank you so much, Colleen! I cannot tell you how many I made to give away this year because once you make one, the other ones follow! Hope you will try it! Hugs
@@athomewithjoanna7410 Made one immediately after watching your tutorial..and starting another! Oh, and I cut a VERY small piece of autumn pumpkin wax melt and placed inside with stuffing! Smells amazing!!
@@colleenbuiles9171 AAAAA, the pumpkin melt is such a great idea!! I tried to use cinnamon sticks for the stem but it didn't smell enough to make it a difference and cinnamon sticks are expensive. Your idea is way better! Thank you so much!
@@athomewithjoanna7410 You are so welcome! Wax melts are cheap..I got mine @ Walmart..I used 1/4 of ONE little SQUARE ( they cut easy with a utility knife)...you can obviously put a bigger piece, depending on size of pumpkin and how strong of a scent you like. Subscribed to your channel and love all the different things you do...Have a great week end💕
@@colleenbuiles9171 Thank you, my friend! Have a great weekend! Hope you find time for crafting! Hugs
Dear friend, I Know,
This video is made after a lot of hard work.
So satisfying, Best wishes,
I always watch the videos
...Wish your support
Thank you so much, my friend!!!
Great tutorial.💋💜
Thank you so much, Donna! Hope you give it a try!
Easy …. Hhhmmm not … for me Joanna. Lol. You you are such a talented artist and crafter. Wow. I knew from the start of the video that this isn’t my thing but those are truly super cute 🎃 ❣️
But of course I watched the entire thing because I have to as I enjoy every single video you put out. 💞
You are the best, my friend! Crochet is not for everyone and that is perfectly fine. That's why there's Joanns! Ha ha!
Sooo cute!
Thank you so much, my friend! They are pretty simple as well!
Thank you !
Thank you so much for watching my friend!
Yes, I had the same question about the size hook? 4, 5 mm?
Hi Melanie! I am using 4.5 mm although the yarn was calling for 5mm. I thought that if I was using a bit small hook, the stitch would be slightly tighter. Thank you so much for watching, my friend!
Hi there, do you skip to the 2nd chain along the row each time when doing HDC or the next chain?
yes I do1 I go chain 2 turn over and start the new row in the second chain from the beginning.
@@athomewithjoanna7410 then do you go into every stitch?
Yes every stitch!
This is so beautiful and seems easy to follow. My daughter is 8 and she wants to learn to crochet and this seems like something she would enjoy as her first project. My daughter is left handed, is there any difference when crocheting? I don’t know if it will be too difficult for her to follow with her right hand, please help.
Thank you so much, Cindy! This stitch is very easy and I have a video showing how to make a hat using the very same stitch. Oh , I don't know how difficult it would be to make for a left handed person. I wish I could be of some help. I hope she tries it to see if it is as simple as it is for right handed person
I have been making several for my church Christmas fair. Just make sure your stuffing doesn’t show through your work.
Yes, good advice! Thank you so much!
I love how your pumpkins look. It looks to me like the pattern is 1 hdc in every other chain, is that correct?
Hello! Thank you for watching. It is hdc in every back loop. Have a great day!
@@athomewithjoanna7410 Thank you so much!
hi, I'm doing a crochet fall video in the future. Can I show the photo from your video and show it in my video, I would link back to your video to give you credit . So I could only show the photo from this video and briefly talk about it. You would get more traffick to your video. Is that ok?
Of course. That's perfectly fine!
How many rows do you need to do, I think I counted 26, is that right?
Hi Phoebe! For chain 20 pumpkin, I would make it 30 rows, for chain 30 I would make 42 rows, for chain 15, I would make 25 rows. Play with the sizes! Maybe you want to make tiny pumpkins doing only chain 10! Let me know how it works out! Super cute gifts for others!
Really excited to make these on our family craft day! Thanks for sharing!
Where did you get your crochet needle? It looks so nice & sturdy. All of mine are kind of small & flimsy
Thank you Adrienne! I got the crochet needle online. I'm so glad that I will be a part of your family craft day! Thank you for that! Hugs
Do you remember what it was called or what website you ordered it from? I was hoping to get one myself
Anyone what size hook is in the video….the recommended size on the yarn?
Yes, I did use the recommended hook for the yarn but I would experiment with your yarn and different hooks to make sure you get outcome you want! Have fun!
Thanks so much
How long does this take to make?
This is a very easy and quick project but it totally depends on how quick you crochet. Hope you give it a try!
hello, what is the name of this point? Thanks you ☺️
Hello my friend!! Thank you so much for watching. Could you explain a little bit more what point you are referring to? I will gladly tell if I have the answer! hugs
@@athomewithjoanna7410 I think they might be asking about the stitch! And the stitch used in the pumpkin is a half double crochet!
Thank you so much! Yes, half double crochet it is!
Belle belle
Thank you so much, my friend!
For a chain of 30 you say 42 but it says 24 in the description. Wish is the right one?
42 rows for chain 30! Thank you so much for catching it! I will go and fix the description! Have a beautiful day my friend!
What size hook?
I used 4.5 although the yarn called for 5.
It’s not thread. It’s yarn. Thread is completely different 😊
Mine ended up a big circle not a rectangle 🙄🤣
My dear Jade, the more you make, the more control you will have of the outcome! Meanwhile enjoy your very cute uneven pumpkins! They have most character! Ha,ha! I would start with the smallest pumpkin then I would gradually make bigger. Let me know how it comes out. Hugs
Stop talking 👎👎
What size hook?
