- Hi there, here's another EAM transmission, caught using the vintage, but great Yaesu FRG-8800. If you monitor the EAM frequencies, you will eventually copy a signal...it just takes time and patience, unles you get lucky!
Thanks for watching and 73.
Update, about an hour after watching the video I did pick up the numbers/letters on 8.992. Very cool to hear on my Radio Shack DX-398 and thanks for the heads up. 73🙂
Nice work Mark!! You're most welcome. 73
Thank you ~ 🕊️
You're welcome!
Lucky or not Clint congratulations on this fine achievement. I know that your friend Dan has done pretty exhausting testing on the incredible Choyong lc 90 and what a beautifuly crafted radio it has certainly turned my head. That being said since it’s inception it has had its fair share of gremlins, but never have I ever seen a radio manufacturer act on its customers suggestions as to everything from niggles to actual features that they would like to have added to the radio. They even have their own help and advice channel on UA-cam which I find is very commendable indeed. They asked for SSB, it has it they have asked for voice recognition it has it. They have asked for RDS and are getting it, they asked for mute free tuning and they have it, they want Air Band and i think they are getting it. The firmware update system has been nothing short of exceptional on their part. On their website they are talking about a new LC 100 coming in this spring I just wondered what your thoughts are on this radio?.
Hello Sir, great to hear from you again! I don't know much about the LC90 other than what I've read - great on shortwave, FM and internet radio, MW reception not the best, apparently. It looks amazing however, it has a real quality build to it and the online reviews have been generally very positive indeed. Looking at the reviews on Amazon however - 61% voted it either 5 or 4 star but the other 39% voted it 1 star, so it's definitely splitting strong opinions. I am tempted to buy one though just for the shortwave and FM performance. What do you think Sir? Worth a gamble on this rig? All the best and 73
Hello Clint I just have a feeling that this radio warrants a level of high level quality journalism I’m not suggesting for one moment that your friend Dan has not done a good job, absolutely the opposite to be honest. I’m just hoping to see your thoughts 💭 on this fabulous radio I would just love your no bullshit opinion on this groundbreaking radio, but I would wait on the version due out this Spring. I have nothing but respect for you Sir, and just wish that they would send you one for free. I cannot thank you enough for your reply my friend, and yes I personally think that the new version should be in your hallowed collection my friend.
@ Thank you for your reply my friend I would love to see this radio in your collection Sir, but would of course wait and see what the next generation model will bring to the table. Thanks again Sir for your reply I appreciate it so very much.
Hello Sir, I agree with you and of course, Dan will have conducted a professional and exhaustive review. I have contacted Choyong and offered my testing services. Let's see if they come back to me. If not, I will wait until spring for the LC100. Thanks for the heads-up my friend, very much appreciated. I can see you are still the go-to guy for radio hardware developments! 73
Very decent signal. Thanks for sharing.
No problem thanks for watching! 👍
Nice catch! I’ll be monitoring 11175 which I believe is the daytime EAM frequency
Thanks and good luck monitoring 11175 kHz - you'll catch a transmission sooner or later. 73!
👍
I have not heard it yet but then again I am usually elsewhere and do not check very often ;-)
Just keep monitoring!
Excellent demonstration. You did kindly advise on the antenna (Wellbrook antenna ALA 1530) you have on the R8600. Is it the same on this FRG-8800. Thank you.
Sorry - yes a Wellbrook ALA1530. 73
