Hello, you partially answered this question but I was wondering what the pros and cons are for using your personal Apple ID for this, I don’t really want to make an entirely NEW ID for this because I think it will make things more complicated but my music email is separate from my personal Apple ID so what should I do? Does it make a difference?
You can use an Apple ID that you already have for listening to music or one that you have already had. I would actually recommend people use one that they already have for distributing their music instead of making a new one for that reason of not having any confusion.

What’s a distributor platform?
It’s a platform that sends your music to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon music, etc.
A distributor platform like; DistroKid, UnitedMasters, TuneCore, CDBaby, etc.

I'm a little bit confused about getting an Artist Access does it cost something or how does it work?
It just depends on the distributor that you sign up to. Most of them charge a yearly/monthly membership or a per upload fee. After you sign up to a distributor, then you upload your music and set it for a release date. The distributor will then distribute your music on the date that you chose and create the profiles for you. You then claim them and there you go.

Thanks this really helped 🙏 but my question is that I used a different name to release a song two years ago and now I’m using a different stage name if I should request artist with my old song will I still be using the old stage name or my new name as it is on the iCloud?
Unfortunately it will be your old stage name on Apple Music since you released it under that name two years ago, I would claim a new profile with your new stage name and then just upload it again on your new profile. That way you can get more plays, unless you want to then delete the old profile under your previous stage name.

It can take 5-7 days.

Yes, you are still able to do that depending on the distributor you use. Also, since UA-cam and SoundCloud are separate music listening services, you don’t need a distributor to release music on those platforms. You would get on Apple Music by signing up to a distributor and then releasing your song(s) through there and they will release your song on Apple Music for you.

It depends on which distributor you plan on using. Some distributors accept MP3’s and WAV files as the audio you can upload to use their service. I highly recommend using DistroKid because they are easier to work with and provide more features.

You have to wait until you first song is released on Apple Music (if you do not have any music on Apple Music yet) in order to claim it.

Your personal account won’t be used for your artist account. The way it works is you sign up for a distributor and the create the account for you after you upload your first song for a release. Then after that, you claim your apple Artist account.

You would have to sign up to a distributor first and upload your first song on there. Once you set the release date 📆 for your song and it releases, then they will create the profile for you. This video is for those who already have profiles.

Yes, that is correct. You have to wait until your first song is released and then you can claim it.
If you already have an Apple ID for personal use, would you just use that for the artist profile or would it be better to create a separate music dedicated Apple ID? Also, how do you go about creating a second artist profile under the same account? For example, John Smith releases pop music but he also wants to release copyright-free albums under FreeMusic by John Smith? Thank you
You can use any Apple ID that you prefer, it’s really just your preference as long as you remember it. And as far as the 2nd profile under the same account, unfortunately you cannot you would have to release it under the same account or just make a separate account if you want to release music under a different profile. I would highly recommend just releasing the music under the same account (especially if you are using the same artist name) instead of creating a different one because your fans will get confused.

@@Romanellis7 Unfortunately, UA-cam always does this and the distributors don’t yet have a function that allows you to connect your UA-cam channel BUT there is a way to connect your UA-cam channel to UA-cam Music which will allow you to distribute your songs on there whenever you release a song. A video about this as well on my channel.

SoundCloud is not a distribution platform, it’s a solo independent platform so yes you need a distribution platform like DistroKid, UnitedMasters, TuneCore, etc.

Hey Kyle, no it isn’t because distributors are the ones that create your profile IF you have never released any music before on such mainstreaming platforms like; Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon music, Tidal, etc.

I would wait the 1-2 weeks until the song is released so you can then update everything on that profile that it releases under because Apple is quirky when trying to create a profile without any songs on that artist profile.

Yes, you have to wait until your release date if it’s your first song or songs you are releasing through a distributor.

IF you have never released music before on any mainstream platform then you will have to upload a song(s) through your distributor (DistroKid) so they can create the account for you and then you can claim it and you are set. I have other videos explaining how to claim your profiles once the distributor has created the accounts for you. Hope this helps!

hey thanks for the helpful video. I have submitted my songs to distrokid a couple days ago and want to set up my profile before the public release in a week. Distrokid has given me my URI for Spotify where I have my profile set up. It also shows up on Apple Music when I try to claim my profile but it does not let me claim it because I have no music out. It doesn’t let you claim your profile until your first song(s) are out. Once they are out, then you can claim your profile within 24-48 hours.
So when I upload through distribution, will it automatically upload to the profile I made through Apple?
IF you have never used a distributor before to release music then you won’t have a profile yet and your distributor will make a profile for you. After that, then you claim the profile they made for you.

I released my first song and it posted to another artists page with the same name as me. However, when I was uploading the song using tunecore I selected create Apple Music and Spotify page for me. How do I resolve that?
Contact Apple Music support, because most likely it’s an AI issue with them. Also, I would take into consideration maybe creating a more unique name, spelling it differently or adding another name to it so that it doesn’t happen again. This happens quite often with Apple Music, unfortunately.

When did you set the release date for and how long did you give it for the song(s) to release?
@Jacey Flames I think it was set to release like a few days later (a little after I changed my artist name).
Typically, I always recommend when releasing a song that you give it at least 3-4 weeks for it to release first and then you can remove your song and try again. Apple Music may be lagging from the release and haven’t been able to update it due to the short time frame. Same with YT music. I would email Apple Music’s support at: artists.apple.com/support/
And YT Music’s as well at: support.google.com/youtubemusic/answer/9595049?hl=en

Unfortunately, you have to have at least 1 song released before you can create the Apple profile. The good thing is that usually your distribution platform creates it for you and then you can just “request artist access” to connect it with the one they created for you and edit what you need to edit on there.

You don’t need an artist account to create a playlist and also, yes you will unfortunately need a subscription to post playlists to public.

That’s why. It takes longer for them to distribute the song through DistroKid if you just give them a 5 days notice. This is why, it is recommended to set your release date for at least 3-4 weeks out.

My artist page is saying this artist is not currently granting access to new users why is that, is it because I haven’t paid for my distrokid ? Hi. How were you able to upload music to Apple Music, since you need an artist ID to upload music, and you can only have an artist ID if you've already uploaded music? This is a paradox. I don't understand.
When you go to applemusic.com you can create an Apple ID on your own, then sign up to a distributor IF you have never uploaded music before, set your release date on that distributor, then once your song comes out, the distributor will create the artist profile for you and then you claim it.

@@JaceyFlames I’ve only released an album, It just got released today and have created a profile for me and when I search my username up, it won’t show nor my full name
It can take up to 3-5 days for your profile to show up on the app. I’ve had it happen to me before and other artists.

Is this how tv shows or movies create a profile and release playlists? I am trying to do that same concept for my business but unsure of how to do that separate from my personal account.
Kind of, it’s sort of a different process for them. You can use your same personal Apple ID to create an artist profile, but you need to use a distributor first and then create the playlists after.

Hi there, I have a plan with distrokid that allows me have two artist profiles. I already have 3 songs uploaded on the first profile. I recently uploaded a song that drops in 3 days with a different artist name. Do you think I’ll have two artist profiles?? Also will the song drop before I can claim the new artist profile.
You should be able to claim it before it drops because it usually submits right before 3 days. Do the 2 artist profiles have completely different names?
@@JaceyFlames yes the artist names are different. I currently can see the first artist profile which was created for my previous uploads. I can’t figure out how to claim my account for the new artist profile I just created(I chose another artist name when uploading the song)
@@gdoifoh8363 That’s odd because once you upload the songs from that separate artist profile it should claim it automatically. I would email support ASAP so they can claim your other profile at: distrokid.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Correct. You have to pick a distributor to release your music first for you and then your name will pop up. You can create an artist profile first through Apple Music or Spotify, etc. first but if you have no music released yet, the platform may not recognize your profile yet. If you have already created an artist profile first without releasing any music you can always claim your profile after you release your music.

If it’s going to your first song you are releasing then after it’s released, your distributor will create these profiles for you. Then you have to claim them on each platform and your name will show up.

If you haven’t released any music before on Apple Music, then you will have to first choose a distributor and then upload your music through there and it will create the profile for you after your 1st release. Once that is done, then you need to claim your profile.

Unfortunately you have to go through a distributor of some kind in order to upload a song to Apple Music. You can choose to just upload your music to Apple only through a distributor though.

@@samariaking4739 IF you have never released music before, then you will first need to sign up to a distributor of your choice, then upload your song(s) for a release and then your distributor will create the profile for you and then you claim it. This video was for those who already have music out and need to create new profiles under that same distributor.
