Ive been using the toolkit to create wildshapes for druids out of existing animals in the game for more variety. And im proud of the quality of the mod (fixing missing animations thst i come across, creating new abilities) But ive never done anything like this at all. So its crazy to think that if im able to do all ive done, what can someone with actual skill do? Looking forward to seeing what these guys tackling such massive projects can do.
My theory is that some company will eventually work on Bg4 and use the success of Bg3 to promote it making as much money as possible instead of an actual good sequel
@@Flippohoyyy I think that’s almost guaranteed given the success of BG3. Just hope the next game in the series can come anywhere close to the masterpiece of BG3!
I have heard people speculate that larian will first use this success and use it to promote one of their own IPs (Divinity Original Sin), and then possibly do bg4 afterwards.
@@maxkrepps9474 I honestly hope they make more Divinity games as they are free to do their thing with their own titles with no limits while the dnd universe is somewhat constrained because of legal issues with wizards of the coast etc
Just as a diverging note: simply disabling some capabilities in their own tools and then shipping them is also the easiest way to provide a modding toolkit without getting into maintenance hell by having diverging community tools and internal tools.
it is utterly heartbreaking that WOTC is the way it is because if they were even half as decent as the people at Larian are we'd never be left hanging like this, i really hate to see it.
to be fair, they are a hasbro subsidiary, and investors don't pay CEOs to be decent human beings who foster a healthy company a decade down the road. in order to fund this and maintain autonomy, Larian owner had to cede 30% to tencent, a notorious cash-grabber preying on dependents.
WotC: you can't, because we own the copyright. Larian: you can, because you are the copyright. Am I missing something other than giving deserved kudos to modders?
The point is that if there is no monetary use of the copyrighted material then its going to be hard for hasbro to actually manage the copyright. Id probably argue they can stop the content in the modding tool if it clearly relates to the copyright. But that content is largely going to be symbols, phrases and names. All of which can be “recreated”
That is absolute music to my ears dude! I looked at the tool myself and honestly was clueless haha. But from what I’ve seen for someone that knows what they’re doing we could see some seriously impressive mods come from this. Can’t wait 😍
It makes sense that it’s able to do this. After all BG3 runs on divinity engine just upgraded to handle bg3. All of this can be done in Divinity Original Sin has the DM mode thing where you can make your own levels and campaigns. So I doubt they took that out, coders rarely do they often just # stuff out. If Sven and co didn’t actually get someone to hack the mod tool kit and release it, they probably made it really easy to find and hack back in
",,, and whatever you do, don't remove the impossible tags on line 7, 9, 11, 23 and 47, because that would enable everything back again. So, you were warned." (Leaves the room, smiling ...)
I gave Boosteroid a try the other day because my PC couldn’t handle Baldur’s Gate III, and honestly, it’s a solid option for anyone with a weaker system. I played without any lags or problems-pretty cool experience.
My biggest hope remains being able to properly visit the Upper City before the end of the game. Even if there are no quests attached, I really wanted to visit all the places I went to in BG, but obviously with the better graphics of BG3.
I think the reason to hide all this functionality in plain sight is that they don't have resources to support modding to the extent of adding new locations and quests. So they released the mod-kit with those functions they would be able support modders with. Having all additional functionality on an use-at-your-own-risk basis.
I'd love to see a crowdfounded DLC, made by modders, where we follow up on our Tav and his/her companions life during another epic adventure. Many of the BG3 voiceactors/actresses confirmed, that they'd like to be in a DLC or BG4 (which i don't see happening in the near future). But i guess, if anything like this would go into making, WoTC would shut it down pretty fast.
The tools are great although a bit unstable 🙂 I am personally working on a weapons mod but with a twist as it will come with some new NPC, quests and new encounters. Hopefully the voiceacting would be resolved soon.
could content like this (locations etc) be available on console when mods become available? because if so this is possibly the most exciting news yet. as awesome as new races, classes, & cosmetics are….
I think so yes! PS5 might be more restrictive but Xbox I’m confident will see these kind of mods in the future. It literally feels like Christmas has come early. Just look at how much content we’ve had for Skyrim over the years, still to this day massive mod expansions are being released and I truly think the Baldur’s Gate 3 will be the same. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE 🤩
Yes, although with limitations, but you can only blame sony and xbox for that. I mean, let's be real, when it comes to modding, consoles will always be limited and somewhat restricted, while pc will always be limitless. Not saying one is better than the other, don't get me wrong, not trying to start console pc war, it's just a reality. While many mods do make to consoles, chunk of them simply do not, because of limitations and restrictions.
What to search for to find new content mods like more monsters or new quests/areas and so on? I "only" find new hairstyles/classes etc? I have big big problems finding mods that alter number of monsters or introducing new areas/quests? They do not exist yet? (I use the modfinder in game from Larian)
