NARROWBOAT Living - Cruising again! Just a little KISS! Whilton Marina to Leicester Line GU! Ep74

- Опубліковано 3 січ 2024
- In this week’s video we start at Whilton Marina where we left off just before Christmas. We help our friends, Caroline & Pete, up the Buckby Lock flight and then, a few days later, our friends Amanda & Wayne help us up the same locks. We have a grocery delivery, so have to wait by the main road and walk it all along the towpath. Our NARROWBOAT floating home journey continues up the last of the Buckby locks, although we left a lot later than planned, we fill with water and carry on up to Norton Junction where we turn onto the Leicester Line of the Grand Union. We cruise along hoping to moored before the Watford locks, but no moorings meant we needed to go up the locks ….. but were we too late?
Hope you enjoy this week’s vlog! 😃 xx

Martin and his Hooter! We do giggle when he sounds it, sometimes we know he's made Julie jump as the camera jumps too! Love it! Keep calm & Hooter on! Love Sal & Al xx
Hiya! Happy New Year to you both, hope we see you again at Crick this year! Thanks! xx
Such a wonderful video. Beautiful, and so peaceful…if you ignore the motorway and Martin’s hooter!! Lovely to see Caroline and Pete too - so much better with friends to help. Hope you’re having a great week xx
Hi Mishka, thank you! Yes that motorway was so loud, really glad we went through the locks and on a bit further to a quieter place, and yes lol re that blasted hooter! 🤪 Thank you! xx
Such lovely memories! Friends helping friends ❤
Yes, hope we see you soon, thanks! xx 😘
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Beautiful colors in the trees. Thank you for taking us along. Cheers!
You’re very welcome Dan, thank you so much for watching too! xx
Hi guys beautiful as always those volunteer lock attendants are nice chaps. I loved the boat when I'm 64 as after many years of playing music in bands, duos and three pieces and joking about it, it has finally happened to me on my last birthday. My lovely wife made me a when I'm 64 cake and all my cards for some reason had the song lyrics on them. It's funny when you are young you think 64 is the end but it's not really, for all of us who are 18 year olds trapped in older body's it's time to leave our working lives behind and go have some fun and try not to look in the mirror as you pass the bathroom.👴🏻😂😂 Stay safe guys.👍🏻👍🏻
Absolutely Geoff! Your birthday sounded lovely, how nice that all the cards had those lyrics! It’s a lovely song, and funny enough, that boat is near us again now! Thanks Geoff! xx
Hi you 2 some of your signery shots look like monet painting incredible colors. Happy Narrow boating.
Aww thank you Mike, the autumn colours were beautiful, thank you so much! xx
Well you've changed, 'a nice hot cuppa' 😂😂 nice to see you meeting up with friends and getting lots of help up the locks 😊 never tire of seeing a kingfisher ❤ Maetin talk nonsense 😂 never 😂 what are the truckers Moll's like at Watford Gap, Martin? 😅
Stay safe ❤ looking forward to following your 2024 adventures 😊
Haha 😝 yeah, makes a change from the coffees I serve up eh 🤪 Sorry to never dim, but what’s a ‘trucker’s Moll’? 🤷♀️ couldn’t believe that kingfisher, wish I’d had my other camera lol 🫣 See you soon matey xx 😘
Haa ! Ya Didn't get me that time with your hooter Martin! All ways lovely scenery on your Cruses. Bless you Both and happy boating!
Haha, thought I had to put warnings out this week, as it made me jump even when editing it! 😂 Thank you so much Steve, we really appreciate your comments each week, thank you! xx
With as turbulent a lock it was fortunate that you had someone to buddy up with I imagine you would bounce around like a cork by yourself.
Haha, yes those double locks can be quite violent! Thank you so much for commenting, we really appreciate it xx
As always fab vlog guys Martin don't worry about talking let your wife do it you do what your good at steering the boat nice to have help up locks with beaters and C R T workers make it less stressful as well as us seeing all these views and colour's you can injoy them to anyway what's the rush there is always tomorrow I love your life stile no rush a question for you is getting the shopping from road to boat as tough as it look and I bet wheels break a lot second question how long does your water last as it seems every vlog you fill up at lest two or three times it was are lucky vlog Martin hooted twice happy days have a safe week no rushing guys
Aww thank you Nicholas, as you say, there’s no rush, we like to take our time and take in all the views and scenery. Getting the shopping is relatively easy, we just have to make sure we’re near a road and that the towpath is not too muddy. We’re literally making our food last at the moment until we get to a better location at present, as the towpath where we are is like a quagmire! With the water, we have a 680 litre tank which is quite generous and can last us a week to 10 days, but as all boaters will tell you, you never pass a waterpoint without topping up. Reason being, the next waterpoint may be out of action, or the canal may freeze, or you could breakdown, so you always top up when you can😃 Lol re the hooter, I had to put warnings this time as it was so loud! 🤣 Thanks Nicholas xx
Thanks very much for the video. It was great that you caught the kingfisher. Many thanks for the "hooter" warnings. Much appreciated!😉😉Have a wonderful 2024.
Hi Ruth, Happy New Year! Thank you so much, that kingfisher was so beautiful, I was so pleased I got him! 😃 We thought best to give hooter warnings on this particular video, as it even made me jump when I was editing it! 🤣 Thanks Ruth! xx
The hooter made the video shake!! I think you should quietly sabotage it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣@@JulieandMartinonRIB

Hi! I remember Watford Gap Services when it was basically portacabins operated by Blue Boar, you only stopped there if in dire need
Crikey, that’s hard to imagine now, it’s so so busy! Thank you so much Mike xx
I would sabbotage that hooter for good, if it was my boat. well done at the Watford Flight, looks tricky. Happy 2024.

Hi Julie and Martin. Happy New Year to you both. That cruise certainly turned out longer than you expected but at least you found a nice quieter mooring in the end. Take care. Nick
Hi Nick, and Happy New Year to you too! Yes it was a lot longer than we’d wanted, but well worth it, getting the Watford locks done was a bonus! Thank you Nick! xx
Beautiful cruise. You really do sell this dream lifestyle. Idyllic ! And a very Happy New Year. ❤
Aww thank you Trevor, we do try to show the canals how they really are, slow, peaceful and relaxing! And a Happy New Year to you too! Thank you! xx

Thank you Joan, and a Happy New Year to you too! Thank you! xx
Today is very picturesque. The colors r truely beautiful. It's outstanding to find such good people along the canal. Hey! Martin is there a shorter narrow boat then yours?
Hi Terry, yes, narrowboats start at about 20 foot, right up to 70 foot! So some shorter and some longer 👍 Thank you Terry! xx
Happy new year to you both and wishing you, and your channel, all the success it deserves for 2024.
Hi Greg, and happy New Year to you too! Thank you so much! xx
Hi guys. Absolutely lovely vlog. We didn't see your new Security Camera you had just installed on your roof, have you fallen out with it lol 😅 X
Hi Glenn, thank you so much! No, the camera is fine lol, this was recorded before we got the camera. You may see it in the next vlog or the one after xx

Just wanted you to know the Elvis movie is on Netflix. But you may already know that 😂.

Xx
Thank you Edward, happy new year to you! xx
I imagine you've been asked before but, may I ask if there is a story behind the Spitfire ornament on top of the boat? Thanks.
Hi Roger, we bought the spitfire as a ‘nod’ to the previous owners, both were in the military airforce and the boat had been looked after so well, so when we saw it we had to buy it! Thanks Roger! xx
julie and martin All the best for 2024 best wishes from lilo
Hi Lilo, and a Happy New Year to you too! Thank you so much! xx
