Same... It's the way in which he comes to terms with that chapter of his life being over. And it's a lot more minimalistic than everything else on the record, just one vocal layer and a guitar. It's really the perfect like postscript after he closes it off on For Emma.
I had bought this album on August 7, 2017 just hours hours before my dad passed away. He was hospitalized and i liked sending him music to listen to. I had heard skinny love and For Emma before but never listened to the whole album until that day. I loved and still love it. I like to think the last thing my dad heard from me was Justin Vernon saying, "Your love will be safe with me"
For Emma is quite literally one of the most beautiful songs ever produced. The fact that it’s literally a conversation between two people, and those trumpets in the background just solidify it as the best song on this album, and maybe his discography.
Bon Iver self titled and 22, a million would make for really good reactions aswell. Also, meant to comment this a while back but given how much you liked Jeff Buckley I really think you should give his father, Tim Buckley, a shot. Happy Sad, Lorca, and Starsailor are all fantastic albums 🙏
it's crazy you also mentioned listening to this in the winter. I totally agree! I've never heard an album capture a season better than this one, and I think that only compliments the feelings of isolation in the music. I like to hear your thoughts on music, you seem very open-minded. Hope even more subscribers come your way soon! :)
i think the don’t bother me like complements the what might’ve been lost as a phrase, like “what might’ve been lost don’t bother me” but it’s him tryna convince himself that he doesn’t feel bothered by losing what he thought was the love of his life and much more that he actually lost at that time, while actually working as him begging these thoughts to not bother him… one of my favorite songs of all time and after all these years i simply can’t listen to it without crying
Great reaction. This album, and really all of their albums, are absolutely beautiful. If you like this kind of vibe, their self-titled is very similar in aesthetic, but more polished. 22 a Million incorporates a lot of electronic elements and is probably their most experimental album, and in my opinion it's their best by a mile.
I love that you reacted to this album outside. The trees in the background beautifully capture this albums rawness since BonIver recorded this album in the woods
Yes I love Bon iver ❤ my favorite album is his third, 22 a million. I would love a reaction of this one, because it's quite experimental and very different from his first album 😊
I love that you said it just feels so warm.. I love Justin Vernon.. such an amazing musician. Justin made this album alone then posted it on SoundCloud... he create the band Bon Iver after this album took off. The voices are all Justin's in this first album. In an early interview with Justin, he said the album wasn't about breaking up with a girl. Hope you plan on more Bon Iver albums.
Easy 10. There are two albums made by people dumped by their girlfriends who went and isolated in a cabin to write an album that are perfect. The other is Adrianne Lenker - songs. Adrianne Lenker is the lead vocalist of Big Thief, but I think she shines even more brightly on her own. Hit that one up after you listen to the best album ever made, Ys by Joanna Newsom. I love your videos. Keep up the grind Mr. Reliable o7
Funny you mention winter with this album, that’s the season I correlate with his 3rd studio album, 22, a million. I think Bon Iver is a good artist to go in chronological order to hear how his sound and style has progressed through the years since he gets more and more experimental.
Fun Fact: He created this album alone in a cabin for a straight year after his girlfriend broke up with him, his band broke off, and losing his job. The vulnerability in the atmosphere, his voice, his lyrics, his production, and melodies make this to personally be one of my favorite albums of all time. sorry to admit that I relate to his words in this project, but this album has helped me a tone to get through it. Recommend his album i,i (heavy kanye influence!)
bon iver is sort of a tame impala or nine inch nails situation where it’s only one guy on the record, but he plays with a band live. at least for this record.
You should definitely check out Tago Mago by Can, I think you’d love it or at least find it very interesting. I listened to it for the first time recently and it blew my mind. Love your videos btw!
Yoo man, if you really enjoyed this Bon Iver album, you should do a live reaction/review on Bon Iver's '22 A Million' album. That shit will freak you out. Honestly the greatest work of art made on earth.
yo could you give "brighter wounds" by son lux or "ma hill" by incredible polo a listen? they're both sick albums and i think you'll enjoy hearing them
their albums only get better from here. much less one dimensional both musically and emotionally, inherits all that sentimentality but puts it towards something a lot less hackneyed. the music on this album leaves a lot more to be desired.
this album like changed my life i genuinely dont think anything sounds like this
also bon iver is a band but when this album was made it was just Justin vernon the singer, he recorded this in a cabin in the woods

If I remember correctly his band broke up, broke up with his gf, and got mono and then went to a cabin for a few months and wrote this masterpiece
@@raywid6493 The story behind the album is almost as intriguing as the album itself.
'Re: stacks'...gets me. Every time. EVERY time. Just literally the first few bars of guitar is enough.

Dude this is THE format that I’d love to see someone react to all the albums I love. So excited to see what you do
Thank You!
i love how deep the message hit for you whilst wearing a fortnite llama tshirt

This was so cool / nostalgic watching a reaction to an album that changed my life.. Now I am re-obsessed with Bon Iver, and I thank you for that
Yellow Swans - Going Places
Xiu Xiu - Girl With Basket of Fruit
I love xiu xiu but that might be the worst album to start with lmao, would make for a funny reaction though.
it would be best to start with a promise for xiu xiu
@@neromxxn2252 a promise or forget are both more accessible starting points
So glad you started off with this one. THATS WHY HES THE GOAT‼️

“this one’s a lot more lowkey.” famous last words.
I love that you reacted to this album outside. The trees in the background beautifully capture this albums rawness since BonIver recorded this album in the woods
Your channel overwhelms me in the best way possible, the selection of albums is exactly my taste
i really enjoy your reactions man good stuff

I believe the shimmery metal noise you liked on flume is a guitar device called an ebow
Fun Fact: He created this album alone in a cabin for a straight year after his girlfriend broke up with him, his band broke off, and losing his job.

Kumran is where they excavated the Dead Sea scrolls.
Gotta check out his newer stuff i,i or 22, a million both albums are so full of production and insane vocal layering
I's recommend Windswept Adan by Ichiko Aoba, my favorite album from the 2020s so far
Bon Iver is a genius. Listen to Far Caspian, another genius.
bon iver is sort of a tame impala or nine inch nails situation where it’s only one guy on the record, but he plays with a band live. at least for this record.
I just listened to this album so I can watch this video
Wating for more interpol album reviews 😔
i’m surprised you still haven’t done wish you were here by pink floyd, elite album
You should definitely check out Tago Mago by Can, I think you’d love it or at least find it very interesting. I listened to it for the first time recently and it blew my mind. Love your videos btw!
a great album if you wanna continue this vibe is "I Want That You Are Always Happy" by The Middle East
Love this album. You have to do Amy winehouse back to black. Not only is it a classic but it is a real “that relationship f’ed me up album. Lol
Kilo Kish - American Gurl
Sudan Archives - NBPQ
Jean Dawson - Chaos Now*
I'm new to experimental music and these are one of the few I actually liked.
It seems you’re into some poppier stuff I would personally recommend I love you Jennifer B by Jockstrap. It was my favorite album of last year
This album is the only thing that keeps me going. I dont say sht like this but this time its true.
I would recommend Pornography by the Cure, since you liked their other album
FOR EMMA STANS RISE UP

flume drives me wild
Many nights after the divorce in a dark house with this album engulfing me time and again. Only way I could sleep some nights.
By the way, for context he recorded the entire album by himself in a cabin in the woods!
I think you would like Tindersticks
yo could you give "brighter wounds" by son lux or "ma hill" by incredible polo a listen? they're both sick albums and i think you'll enjoy hearing them
Do us and mostly YOURSELF a favor and listen to Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails if you never heard before👏🏼
This was recorded by one man in a log cabin with an old busted guitar
fortnite shirt is crazy
