Very helpful. I am a new old owner of a Norinco SKS... and wondered why the pin was sticking out when bolt retracted. Thank you... got it cleaned & it is "rattling " again.

Once you have your bolt disassembled, you can boil it in hot water and Dawn dishwashing liquid. That will melt the cosmoline out of the bolt and off the other pieces. I put a very light coating of moly grease on my firing pin (the moly grease won't burn and will prevent firing residue from get deposited on the firing pin or in the firing pin channel). The pin still rattles the way it should. When you disassemble the bolt for cleaning, mineral spirits will clean off the moly grease.

Thanks for answering my question. To answer yours, here you go. The rifle was never able to fired and as they have no warranty, I was left with figuring out was the problem is. On the gas side, the gas tube is brand new and was machine to fit square on the face on the gas part eliminating any possibility of gas leaking out. I also checked to small gas exahaut ''hole'' in the sort of elbow to make sure it was not blocked. My second sks rifle shoots fine and the spring are all in the right way. I have owned many rifles, and I like to think that I'm more than okay when it comes to rifle, but that particular one has been more challenging. I'll looking for an extractor as the rest looks fine. the bolt slides back and forth smoothly, but parts here in Canada are hard to find. I'll keep in touch with you...maybe parts down south (I'm assuming you'RE from the U.S.) are more available. Thanks for your help.

I have an old Arsenal /26\ parra carbine that I bought in the very early 90's, about 25 years ago. All matching numbers including the stock with milled receiver, trigger guard and screwed in barrel. I believe it was manufactured in 1965. I paid about 90/100 bucks for it at a gun show, and it was advertised as unissued military. I got lucky as I was clueless about SKS's at the time. Your tips on marking the firing pin and using a pipe cleaner are not mentioned on the other videos I have watched. Thank you...

My dumb ass put the pin back in upside down.. so it smeared the pin over and wouldn't come back out. So I took a needle file and filed the smear down to where it would come out.. and I took some emery cloth and to the best of my ability eliminated any burs I created.. but it still feels like something is catching internally. So make sure you don't do what I did people.

I'm having stove pipe issues and cycling issues with my sks. Everything is clean. Where could the problem come from? The gas tube has been changed. Everything lines up perfectly, so on the gas side, it should be fine. I'm thinking the extractor or the extractor spring. Do these 2 pieces come apart, or are they always in one another? Thanks,

If rifle was working before you changed gas tube I would definitely look at that, make sure nothing is clogging the gas port and how did you know the gas tube you put in was good to go ? What was wrong with the old one ?New one could be leaking. It could be the spring is in backwards too, did you put original spring back in or have you changed that too ? If you changed spring as well it could be too strong.
