The instant switching in combination with being in the ecosystem professionally and personally, a 20 hour Apple headphones with great voice quality and playback is exactly what we need.

I got my fake airpods and they are awesome. I got them at IPLAYPODS,CO. Great sound and mic quality so fluid and they works same as apple ones. Battery is great to.
Interestingly - the usb c to lightning cable that ships with it can be used as physical cable to connect to Android phones, Macbooks, most new microsoft laptops, and most new Ipads. No need to spend extra $35 unless you want to use it with Iphone as wired headphone.
Btw a lot of ppl think Pod means something that goes in your ear but Apple has historically associated with Pods as music-related devices. like the iPod, EarPods, HomePod, and the AirPods. It's just a branding thing
I personally think that if Apple made AirPods max but at a lower price and with a few sacrifices from the AirPods Max and something like the AirPods Max lite that comes at around the same price point as the Sony WH1000M4 it would be a great comparison.

The TBD durability of the headband, the horrible carrying case, and the weird lower power mode situation... Are deal breakers for me. Plus the lack of a headphone jack and the inability to fold down for travel is really underwhelming too.

You could get a PS5 DE, the Pulse 3D headset, and 50 dollars left over, lol. Totally different products of course, but it's about 200 dollars more than where the competition would lay. And they overcharge on conversion, what should be 700CAD is 770, where other companies are starting to eat some of the conversion.
I can see Apple using Glass to make those shells instead of Aluminium for Airpod Max Pro version and have Magsafe charging :). I think it will be pretty cool actually.
I think it would have been helpful for you to read the specs before doing the review on the AirPods Max. They are powered by two H1 chips, not one. There is one in each ear cup. Also, a lightning to 3.5 mm cable can be purchased on Apple’s website. I can’t wait until my pair arrives. I ordered the space grey ones but I do also like how nice looking the blue and silver/white ones are. Also, stating that a person could buy a PS5 or several CHEAP quality POCO phones was not good comparison. Those are two totally unrelated product categories with different use cases. I don’t know why everyone expects a company like Apple to put so much insane attention to detail, build quality and industry unique features, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, spacial audio for example, into a product then sell it without making a respectable profit. Even the drivers in each cup were fashioned after high end floor model speakers. I think the AirPods Max headphones are well worth the price. There are multiple companies that make more expensive over ear headphones that don’t have some of the features and technology Apple is bringing to the market. However, I do agree that Apple missed the boat with the case.
Couple details are wrong here - no, you don't absolutely need the case to get them into low power mode. They shut off on their own when they've been off your head for awhile - it won't just run the battery down. And you can still plug them in to a 3.5mm audio jack (like you can on an airplane), but you'd need to buy an adapter from Apple to do that, which is ridiculous.
You just buy a 3.5 mm jack to lighting from Apple, it’s a long black cord. I know shocking it’s black, first audio cord Apple had made in that color since maybe before the iPod
Really hate to be negative about reviews but I’m surprised that you’ve made some pretty big mistakes. Like Apple does sell a 3.5mm jack to lightning cord so wired connection is possible. And the headphones don’t just run out of juice when they aren’t in the case. After a period of inactivity they simply turn off or into that same “low power mode” that the case provides.
I ordered these within 2 minutes of discovering their existence was so excited and knew they would be amazing and while this happened to be on their first preorder day around 8pm. My shipping date is mid-March!
The AirPods never actually turn off even in the case. They go into an ultralow power mode. Without the case, they still go into ultralow power mode after a period of inactivity.

The outside of the ear cups look real fresh and clean. Scratches will show up really bad. And after paying 600-700$ for them and then getting a scratch on them would be heart wrenching lol. And you can’t get them in black colour. Apple dropped the ball BIGTIME ON THESE!

Your statement that they can’t be connected via a wire is partially inaccurate. Yes they can’t be connected by a wire right out of the box but you can buy Apple’s Lightning to 3.5mm adapter to use a wired connection. It’s not ideal and very Apple thing to do but it is possible.
Where does AirPods Max’s transparency mode fall between Sony XM4 and AirPods Pro? Sony XM4 transparency mode sounds unnatural and I can’t talk to people when low volume music is playing. AirPod Pros transparency is the best I’ve tried so far, music playing and I can still talk to people.

I have had my AirPods Max in the same colour for a while and see no scratch or marks, it all depends how you take care of them.

The headband is there to counterbalance the weight of the headset. XM4 is plastic that’s why you wouldn’t feel fatigue because it’s much lighter.
