8:52 why not lol? wolfgang can deal twice as much damage the couple of minutes since he spawned, wigfrig can deal 50 damage with her spear and damage modifier, which is basically tentacle spike's unmodified damage, why Wheeler can't have a pretty strong weapon from the start? some characters scale into late-game monsters, like wormwood, wanda and Willow, some stay the same, like Wheeler. considering for the most players late game is literally the first spring, when you already have enough resourses to scale, and dst players have a tendency to kill both CC and FW by day 15.
The idea of the navigadget existing in DST for finding Lunar/Moon Quay is all I want. I don't want to have to learn map gen quirks just to get an idea of where lunar might be, and then sail around until I stumble on moonquay
@@Beetlelover417 But message in a bottle requires you to sail a little, this would let you bee-line to what you want. Plus imagine rushing ruins day 1, finding the cardinal direction for Moon Quay, and then setting out for there and bringing back banana sprouts before first winter
I think she'd be ok as is. The howlizer thing I can understand but remember the howlizer does dps the same rate as melee attacks, and the pewmatic horn does at half rate as melee (just like Walter's slingshot) meaning instead of doing 45 dsp with cheap ammo, you are doing 22.5 dps, and with high ammo you are now finally doing 30 dps (instead of 60) wich is far from the 68 dps the Howlitzer, not to mention the loss of the planar dmg. And as someone who loves using the horn in Hamlet, you know that you burn through the ammo quite fast, and then you find yourself using scraps you find on the ground as cheap ammo, wich remember, half dps, so it's 34 dp2s or 17 dps and honestly I don't think that is so good imo. The risk vs reward of dodges and being unarmored is a defining trait of Wheeler that should be kept just like that. Navigadget is sometimes a bit niche but in DST the potential is a lot greater. I do think the nerf to her speed is good but there's something I disliked about it. It is a known strat to keep al items inside a backpack to benefit from the empty spaces in the inventory and I think that should remain in a potential DST port, but then I thought about the slight nerf to having a minimum speed below the 100% and how you think the inv spaces inside the backpack should count as Wheeler's inv. And I think you are right in that there should be a bigger downside but having two nerfs on top of eachother seems a little overkill for a game whose scope in power creep is going up every update. So I thought, what if we combine the two nerfs? The minimum speed Wheeler can have is below average, a minus 12% (instead of a minus 10% you suggested) and backpack inventory counts as Wheeler's inventory, BUT just having your pockets all full isn't enough to get below average, instead if you have NO BACKPACK but all inventory slots occupied, then your minimum speed is 1.05 (as in DS), but THEN for every slot occupied in a backpack you get slowed down by 1%. With a normal backpack this penalty is a maximum of -6%, with a piggyback is a -12% PLUS the usual 10% for a total of 72.05%. This makes Wheeler still benefit from using a Krampus sack to get rid of the 10% or use a beefalo to not get slowed. Still retaining the numbers in DS and nerfing the use of backpacks in favor of other armor slot items.
The one character I want brought to DST so much is Wilba. She is a character they could do so much with but they kinda wasted the potential of. Imagine Wilba being able to upgrade pig houses into town houses and making the pigs reside in them more improved, something between the classic pigs and Hamlet pigs. And then those pigs can set up basic shops around. I have this whole Wilba rework idea for dst that makes her kinda like Wurt but instead of combat her faction is based around resource gathering and trading.
I yhink the biggest problem with wheeler is that (as you mention) her abilities are simmilar to other characters. Dodge is too similar to wortox teleport and walters slingshot seems to be a balanced version of pewmatic horn, so i dont really see a good reason to add her. The character that i think should be added is wilba. She could have acces to build hamlet shops and bring hamlet economy to dont starve.
Wheeler's armor losing durability while dodging is just a normal invincibility frame thing... Turn on c_godmode() and you'll see the same thing happen. Same for any other source of invincibility frames like jumping between SW's boats, or entering / exiting a Wormhole. (For a while, I tried to develop a meta for killing a boss in an "arena" that's just a grid of SW's boats. Time the jump between boats for invincibility frames. It was too difficult and niche to really take off.) Anyway, the same durability loss during invincibility frames happened in DST as well for the longest time... Apparently, Klei patched that out (based on this video), so it's unreasonable to assume Klei would bring it back to DST just for Wheeler. (I'm retired from DS/DST, so I'm not fully up to date.) Also, I don't think a speed less than 1x is a good idea for Wheeler. It'd make some things impossible to kite without the dodge / abusing the dodge's invincibility frames. It's the same reason that Wilbur is bad. (Honestly, probably best to rip out the speed boost and speed penalty altogether. Maybe add it back as an "Insight" thing?)
The Pew-matic Horn could be nerfed by limiting what can be used as ammo along with reducing the damage, I think also instead of being unbreakable it should have durability but be craftable by Wheeler (and only Wheeler, also only she can use it) albeit it should probably be fairly expensive, like gears, gold and a mosquito sack (for the horn pump). As for more downsides for Wheeler, perhaps her dodge and faster movement drains her hunger? Her dodge reduces it by a flat amount each use and the faster Wheeler runs the faster her hunger drains, not to a ludicrous amount but still, also they could reduce her max hunger to be below average, making Wheeler more of a speedy glass canon that burns out quickly if you're not careful
I like the idea of limiting ammo, but adding hunger penalties will do nothing IMO, food is not something that's scarce in DST at all (ironic I know) so it would just add more micromanaging
Why does everyone want to nerf the pewmatic horn so bad It's attack animation is 2x slower than melee weapons and it deals less than 50 damage, so it's dps is very low
You could go a different route witht he inventory downside and instead of reducing inv slots it could reduce the max stack size. Thinking about the speed thing penalty oof it hurts but they could also do a cute little thing in making her get bonus speed from not wearing armor to encourage the dodge or dare play style. Just a thought tho 🤧
Honestly I hope they add the remaining DLC DS characters after theyre done with the skill trees, it would be really nice to have everyone in one game without mods.
what if insted of just making her loose speed down to 90% of willson's based on amount of used slots we'll make her loose 0.01 or 0.001 speed for each item in her inventory so stack of twigs will make her speed less by 0.4 or 0.04 but if she got the second variant of decreasing speed then klei would've had to give evry item a weight (including items that you can craft) and then update that would've added wheeler would take forever to make since there are hundreds if not thousends of items without their other variations

I don't feel like backpacks need to count as filling her inventory, her needing to not wear armor to take advantage of her dodging mechanic is already a downside because it forces you to play to her strengths and otherwise she might as well not have the dodging mechanic at all, and nerfing her primary weapon is another downside that exemplifies this because it's no longer a viable earlygame weapon unless you go out of your way to farm Nightmare Fuel. If Wolfgang can move at 110% while in Normal form by spending 2 perk points with 15 filled inventory slots and a full backpack, I don't see why Wheeler couldn't move at 117% speed so long as she is restricted to only being able to put things into a backpack, especially if you are arguing for making half inventory reduce her to 100% speed which is 6 slots for her.

In recent years klei have managed to balance most outrageous, op and unbalanced characters and make em fun to play There is no excuse to no add Wheeler now
unpopular opinions Personally I think she will be horrible to play in DST you can miss her dodge timing due to lag and due to how DST has inventory problem due to how much new item Klei added over time. playing her will feel worse and worse, especially because "her best" is already from the start, it can only go down hill later on they need to rework her to at least give her a character progression in the game (other than the gun ammo) ---------------- that aside, I would love to see her with DST skin, they make her ingame hair dirty :(

Why? The dodge is like Wigfrid's dash attack but worse in every way
@@How2live0Wigfrids dash attack shouldn't exist at all
@@panter8895 great argument, shut up
@@How2live0why would you say that? It's so broken, that it shouldn't be in a game
@@panter8895 We literally have Wolfgang
You're overstating the value of pewmatic horn.
we have her already . and she is Wanda
Petition to replace Walter with Wheeler ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Att. The guy who haven't play Walter
Does she fits in the lore?
In recent years klei have managed to balance most outrageous, op and unbalanced characters and make em fun to play
There is no excuse to no add Wheeler now
unpopular opinions
Personally I think she will be horrible to play in DST
you can miss her dodge timing due to lag and due to how DST has inventory problem due to how much new item Klei added over time.
playing her will feel worse and worse, especially because "her best" is already from the start, it can only go down hill later on
they need to rework her to at least give her a character progression in the game (other than the gun ammo)
----------------
that aside, I would love to see her with DST skin, they make her ingame hair dirty :(
woodie: uh sure
@@tiqosc1809 you say that as if Woodie wasn't so bad that they have to give him skill tree to save him from the grave
so ye, sure
She just seems way too overpowered tbh
Isn't Wanda enough for you!? 😑
No. The answer is no. (sorry for spoiling the video)
