The stabilisation is very good. Which software did you use to achieve that quality?

Hi, I have tried various methods but find the easiest and also one of the most effective is to cut the video at the same points as the original was shot and then stabilise the short segments individually. I have, on nearly all the videos on my channel done this with iMovie only, as it is relatively easy to use and yet surprisingly powerful. I am now also cropping a little further than I have on this film as it removes some of the moving black frame on either side.

@@DaveEldergillCineFilm Thank you. That’s a lot of film you have digitized. I had done some of the Triumph sport six clubs annual getting together that I filmed on super 8 back in the day. I cringe now at the commentary I put on the sound track back then, but it is all of it’s time. When I posted it there wasn’t any good stabilization that I could find. But I’ll have a go with some of the new /old film I’ve got and see how it goes. Thanks. Just seen the rest of your channel. That’s a lot of work you have done. Every much appreciated. It fabulous to see these old movies. I have lots from mum and dad and granddads time. And just got some from a friend that found them in a house they had moved in to. Such a shame for the family to lose them.

Thanks Angus, it is amazing how treasured family memories end up on ebay or car boot sales. I think when people clear out after someone has passed they don't realise what the films actually are and also people may have had things put onto DVD at some stage and then got rid of the originals. I have had some real moments of serendipity when posting the films, I was once contacted by a guy who saw his own wedding back in 1978 and didn't realise that the footage existed until seeing himself on UA-cam

@@DaveEldergillCineFilm Yes a uncle of mine had some film and photos put on DVD in the early days and got rid of the origanals. now the DVD will not play and a data recovery company recond there was no chance of recovering the data.
