    When people respected themselves and each other even poor people took care of what little they had and aspired to better their circumstances. Admirable.

      I say be the change you want to see. I live in a trailer home and still keep my pride. I keep the home clean and I dress up when I go out. Before I can ask folks to fix up their lives, I need to fix up my little corner of the world. And that’s what I intend to do. Just maybe I’ll inspire someone else to dress it up when they go out.

      Close, it's more like White people, who haven't been ravaged by drugs or the idea that they should let dark skinned people live near them.....take a lot of pride in themselves and their surroundings.

    When my aunt and uncle were married in 1956 they had a trailer similar to many shown in this video. When they bought a house a few years later they parked it in their front yard for sale. It sat there quite a while before anyone bought it. I used to love playing inside it when we went to visit them. Eventually it ended up in a trailer park a few miles away where it was in use well into the 2000s. The owner of the park finally had it hauled away for junk. I would have liked to save it, had it restored and put it on our property as a guest house, but wasn't able to do that, so it's gone.

      Water Melon well before that family's used to live together even when kids were married all the way back to Victorian times. People were happy to own their own home and be independent from every one else. It started right after world War two when people's way of thinking changed. Before it was more than one generation living in the same house. Now they don't stick together they can't wait until their kids are 18 to kick them out.

    It’s so nice and clean for a trailer park. People cared about their property back then! I love how the lady is sitting on her chair smoking her cigarette with her ash tray and reading her newspaper! I remember being a little kid at my grandparents old two bedroom trailer. My Grannie and Paw Paw would sit at their 1950’s style retro kitchen table and smoke and read the newspaper. (This was during the 1970’s when people still smoked around kids... No one knew any better) Anyway, I survived! And even though they smoked inside the trailer, the house and the yard was beautifully maintained! If we were poor, I didn’t know it. I had a charmed childhood with all the love and material possessions I could ever ask for. ❤️ My parents and brothers and I lived in a big double wide trailer across the street from my grandparents. Eventually the trailer park began to turn into well,..a trailer park! My parents and grandparents all moved us out and bought houses in better neighborhoods. But that trailer park was such a nice place once upon a time... Simpler times! A bygone era...

    They didn't have side skirting in the 50s?

    • @russelljohnson1303
      @russelljohnson1303 4 роки тому +1

      Back in the 1950s mobile homes were actually used as mobile homes.
      they had no side skirting because the majority of people that own them moved around alot.
      In fact unlike travel trailers or Camper's mobile homes back in the beginning were often purchased by well-off families who basically just used them as you would travel trailer so you have your house and then you have your mobile house that you'd hook up to the back of the car or what's called a toter which is a specialized truck and then pull trailer around the country on vacation.

      Well back in the day dishes were hand washed. It's all on how you wash them. Hot soapy water. Dish washers don't always do so good sometimes. If you wash by hand you need hot soapy water. Soak dishes a bit and wash. Got to make sure dishes are clean.
