Joe Strummer was honest, ballsy and down to earth. Not to mention, intelligent, talented and gorgeous. Miss you. The Clash isn't the same without you and music now is just sh@$e . RIP. Hope to see you in Heaven. ♡
This is why I really love Joe such a beautiful incredible talented soul down to earth soul always. He isn't truly gone ever cause Joe is a legend that lives on forever. I love his calm voice and just the way Joe talks and his wise words.
What an amazing man.Honest.Cant say enough good things about Joe.The type of person that comes along once in a lifetime.Im saying warts and all.Very easy for me to say the Clash will always be my favorite band and Strummer/Jones the best songwriters ever.
Brutally honest and slightly sad interview. I wish the Clash had managed to get back together at some point. You can tell Joe realised his mistake very early on, but got stuck with his decision. Mick needs a large part of the blame too, he was on his own schedule and ego trip and seemed to have little interest in anything Joe or Paul did or wanted to do. The Clash were the first band I liked as a kid in 1991, when Should I stay or should I go and Rock the casbar got re-released after the Levis advert. I was really sad when I learned these were old songs from a band that had broken up years ago.
There’s a couple interviews where Topper also shows remorse for his actions leading to his eventual ejection too. Really one of the most tragic ends to a band where they all share a bit of blame with why the band ended but later felt guilt and reconciled separately. A shame they never got to reunite one last time before Joes untimely death, just a few months before their Hall of Fame induction
r.i.p joe...you are so missed...your music touched many...and changed my life...i was so lucky to see the london calling tour. :) my tribute to the clash can be found on my channel...plz have a listen and if so inclined, leave a comment.
Joe Strummer was so talented - not to mention sexy. I wish I could've been around when the Clash were in their prime, but unfortunately Joe died when I was 8...
Who hasn't Rotten criticized? Like I admire his dgaf attitude but part of me wonders "is Johnny genuinely that pissed off and sour all the time or is this his chosen public persona he feels he has to act?"
funny, awesome stuff. What sucks interviews with Joe like these, not much seen when shoulda been when he was around.Might've enlightened more from the left and right on being decent to all.Cheers
@ThatGirlTyson wow, my thoughts written by someone else, maybe not the gorgeous man bit, but he was, is still a fucking hero in my eyes. much love to you and the man himself.
Maybe I ate too many edibles, but I was starting to wonder what the hell I clicked on there in the beginning. Great interview, though, my heart kind of broke at how quick he was to enthusiastically say he wanted to get The Clash back together. I believe if he had lived longer they would have reformed and really enjoyed it.
+Tomboy91xoxo True. I think an absence of cigarettes probably would've given us a few more years of Joe as well as a Clash reunion tour in the early 2000s :(
That's interesting that he says he would have got The Clash back together - glad it didn't happen though. Let's face it, if he'd have lived longer they probably would have done - except for the impeccable examples of The Jam and The Smiths, every other fucker has done.
This is so painful to watch knowing Joe is so remorseful over what happened to his legendary band. Clearly they could have kept going making amazing records had Topper not been kicked out, Mick, egos, etc.
Joe ....indeed had good looks...but jj burnel was the real deal , even straight punks fancied him in a non-sexual way....tough as they come and really nice dude , b idol had the looks but no brain.....
Wish I could Delete my comment .......lot more careful what I and I say now , just to say I saw the clash and stranglers , Damned etc 78 - 83 and and wot a great time it was now all us young punks are 50 ish . /

Marjorie Dieudonne I subscribe to your every word
That's why I really love Joe and his music. Yes such a beautiful incredible soul Joe is he isn't truly gone ever and he means everything to me.
This man had it all: talent, vision, looks, charm, songs with substance. What an amazing human being.
When the interview starts, I thought she was one of the Ramones.
lmaoo
She does look like Marky
I love Strummer's honesty and straightforwardness and that he refused to slag Rotten off.
Beautiful Joe Strummer!!!
Yes he is
He even looks good from that underneath camera angle that NO-ONE looks good from. Damn hot..... and brilliant.
Yes he is such a beautiful soul
Jaw would be 79 today
@@frlango6082 Joe would actually be 69...
The honesty and humble attitude of this man never ceases to amaze me.so proud of you joe.

Leg end (I never thought i’d write that) have you noticed how the precenter says “joe, woud you get the cash (hesitant) back?” Listen again
Too DaMN HOT for his own good
Love Joe.... such a totally honest guy, not to mention an amazing musician /composer/ performer. Gone waay too soon.
What an amazing man.Honest.Cant say enough good things about Joe.The type of person that comes along once in a lifetime.Im saying warts and all.Very easy for me to say the Clash will always be my favorite band and Strummer/Jones the best songwriters ever.
I saw The Clash twice in LA in the 80's truly one of the best punk bands I had ever seen & heard...
His voice is Irreplaceable
forever grateful to share a birthday with joe. may he rest in peace xx
Oh, I adore this man soo much.
These weird theme based interviews are the best lol
Goddamn it joe was one of the most honest sons of bitches on the planet.throughout his career and interviews that never changed.i miss you joe.
These good old times when we could smoke everywhere all the time, so much class Jo ! And an amazing man.
A caption comes up saying Joe was born in 1953, let me correct you, John Graham Mellor was born in Ankara on August 21st 1952
Thanks for posting this!
one of the best interviews I've ever seen x
Thanks for posting this interview with Joe!
Heard someone once say The Clash were a disgrace to music. Fucking shame. The best. Joe, you're a god.
whoever said this is a disgrace to human race

Casbah bar excellent

Actual interview starts around 1:42. You're welcome.
Straight to Hell is an amazing movie! Go see it! Joe had so much talent.
R.I.P Joe sleep tight sweet prince I hope we see each other again later 🙏
I love Joe's honesty. xxx
"First, last, and only true rock and roll hero."
joe is worth a million of the vacuous fools who clog up the music biz nowadays..he is dead but through his music and spirit he still burns brightly
r.i.p joe...you are so missed...your music touched many...and changed my life...i was so lucky to see the london calling tour. :)
my tribute to the clash can be found on my channel...plz have a listen and if so inclined, leave a comment.
Where is it
I think joe is great and i think its very sad we lost him and another punk legend Malcom Mclaren recently. rip
I fucking love how honest punks were back then. Just so fucking real.
my favourite artist. he did sound slightly pissed in this interview.. 2 girl daughters etc.
He was so gorgeous
Joe Strummer was so talented - not to mention sexy. I wish I could've been around when the Clash were in their prime, but unfortunately Joe died when I was 8...
what a cool guy
Is there more to this interview?
Appreciate the upload!
The worst mistake was to get rid of Mick Jones. That's like John Lennon if he got rid of Paul McCartney.
UNFORGETABLE JOE
intresting to hear his take on rotten even tho rotten has criticized the clash in the past
Who hasn't Rotten criticized? Like I admire his dgaf attitude but part of me wonders "is Johnny genuinely that pissed off and sour all the time or is this his chosen public persona he feels he has to act?"
Such a nice, cool guy.
Gutted that Joe said Straight to hell is rubbish..But the hell do i know .LEGEND!!!
He means the Alex Cox movie, not The Clash song.
awsome
"Without music, life would be a mistake." - Friedrich Nieztsche
"Without "Joe", music would be impoverished. And so would I." - TG

Brutally honest gentleman...

Joe Strummer should of been in Inspector Morse
@ThatGirlTyson
wow, my thoughts written by someone else, maybe not the gorgeous man bit, but he was, is still a fucking hero in my eyes. much love to you and the man himself.
damn he was good looking.....poor guy
R.I.P
Like Axle Rose he “smokes his cigarette with style”
The Clash without Joe Strummer / Queen without Freddie Mercury...
Queen has continued without Freddie whereas The Clash certainly know better..
@@crapple009 Adam Lambert is an absolute disgrace, and an offense to the late, great Freddie...
Joe was born in '52 not '53!!
The true Marlboro Man.
Maybe I ate too many edibles, but I was starting to wonder what the hell I clicked on there in the beginning. Great interview, though, my heart kind of broke at how quick he was to enthusiastically say he wanted to get The Clash back together. Amazing he ran marathons
edna mode
RIP
joe talks real talk rip
Joe, Smoking is bad!!!!
Tomboy91xoxo who cares I'd rather die young and good looking than old and wrinkly
Well there's no need to be rude, Joe is dead now, which really sucks
+Tomboy91xoxo True. I think an absence of cigarettes probably would've given us a few more years of Joe as well as a Clash reunion tour in the early 2000s :(
Tomboy91xoxo hye tomboy.
Hah please, his music was still 900% more passionate and honest than that of say, Coldplay or Blur.
2:53 ... in 1952
this must be just after we were together in Didsbury
?
Joe was born in Ankara Turkey
What is your point?
He never considered himself Turkish though. Didn't even really live there lucky him
MrSixiesRock he lived in ankara when he was a child. he went school in ankara. ankara/mamak turkey check out..
I think his mother was Scots.
That's interesting that he says he would have got The Clash back together - glad it didn't happen though. Let's face it, if he'd have lived longer they probably would have done - except for the impeccable examples of The Jam and The Smiths, every other fucker has done.
Joe was born in 1952, not 1953
Famous last words
WHY dose he say that 'straight to hell' is rubbish???? :'
He means the Alex Cox movie, not The Clash song.
To kool for Skool for with the cigarette 🚬
I think he was born in 1952.
This song seems familiar.
That "Divine'character must surely be one of the 8T's most ridiculous non performers.
This is so painful to watch knowing Joe is so remorseful over what happened to his legendary band. Clearly they could have kept going making amazing records had Topper not been kicked out, Mick, egos, etc.
Topper was drug addict. But it was a mistake to fire Mick, who founded the band.
God dam, Joe. We wish you were here, sir.
What's he supposed to do? Live in a squat until he's 90? It's called growing up. You might do it yourself one day. Then again, you might not.
She can interview me any time.
Does anyone know who the interviewer is?
Magenta Divine, right up her own arse she was.
Thank ya!
Born in 1952 not 1953
Oh well…
He's only lookin' for fun.
zeds ville 😀
They've had a few amazing essential bands since then - The Smiths, The Cure, Radiohead...even Doves and Elbow I would add.
This assemblage of words would be a perfect skeleton. You have metacarpals stacked in there somewhere too?
"what kind of nails?"
Joe ....indeed had good looks...but jj burnel was the real deal , even straight punks fancied him in a non-sexual way....tough as they come and really nice dude , b idol had the looks but no brain.....

Actually Billy does have brains-he just downplays it. You'd be surprised..
"but as for Rotten.." PAUSE.....deep drag on cig.....
Google ... "THC Cures Cancer"
Cut the CRAP, RIP joe
gone too soon
It's not healthy to take the first drag after you light it.
