The most common reason in my experience is an unbelievably annoying bug that still exists in Resolve. All you have to do is relaunch Resolve and open your project for it to clear up. Maybe one day they'll fix this (along with FX randomly dropping off audio clips, which persists after several versions now).
A restart usually fixes it because it will update the output device to the current output device. Instead of restarting, you can go into Preferences, System at the top, Video and Audio I/O on the left, then down to Audio I/O and just change the output. Hit save and you're done, it should work. A restart does basically the same thing.
Phenominal. It's frusterating to go to work on a project and wind up spending an hour trouble shooting instead, but this video not only solved my issue, it helped me understand the software better! Thank you XD
I like that you included that little bit about windows specifically. And just in general how you use your experience with both os's to really help people and not just be informative to just Mac, or just Windows. Thanks!
You’re welcome! Most of the times from what I see the problems are on the PC side. I thought it only makes sense to include everybody in this video. One stop shop hopefully 😜 thank you for watching!
Just figured out a FIX (apologies if this was mentioned and I missed it). If you're playing back and the audio is cutting in and out, going left to right, or just not playing after a few seconds, go to PLAYBACK > DELETE RENDER CACHE > ALL. Worked for me right away!
It's talked about in this video and it was what worked for me. If you're on a Windows system then most likely it's this: System/Sound/Volume Mixer... Look down at DaVinci Resolve and if it's crossed out it's muted. Simply 'Unmute Davici Sound'.
Awesome, thank you! For whatever reason Davinci decided it was going to send audio to output 9/10 of my interface instead of 1/2 where it’s been forever lol. Could not figure out where that setting was so this video is much appreciated!
Amazing job, your explanation for each step was spot on and very helpful, I watched the whole video just to find that DaVinci Resolve was not supporting my mp4 file for some reason, but I was able to easily convert it to an mpk file, and now it works! Idk if this is helpful to anyone, but thanks for the help Jason!
Ugh. I have *.mkv files and am converting them into *.mp4. His list says they should be supported. If not, DaVinci is useless to me. When my stream crashes, I have to meld files together, and my MKVToolNix turns out *.mkv files. It's already a pain having to convert those. 😭
@ 11:35 solution described, problem fixed. So frustrating how Resolve automatically and randomly changes settings. This has happened many times using Resolve Studio since version 15. Hate wasting time trying to fix things that were previously working. Thank you for creating this helpful video 🙌🏻
I edited a video a week ago and I wanted to do the voice over. I pluged my earphones to record my voice. Couldn't understand why I had sound only on certain clips! Well to my big surprise and thanks to this video, I unpluged my earphones and it now works fine. Sometimes, technology is a mystery !
You saved my sanity. I've been struggling with this all day. It was the volume selector on the inspector. WHY IS THE DEFAULT ZERO!!! Thank you. Now I can get to work tomorrow.
WOW!!!!! This video really saved the day! Not only because it provided exactly the steps I needed to take to restore the sound in DaVinci Resolve. But it was the positive attitude and energy of the video which kept me trying when the first couple of steps didn't work. It was the step of going to the Preferences and then clicking off "automatic speaker configuration" and then following the steps after that (Setting "Layout" "Output" for "Left" and "Right.") (Not sure relevant to share...but then when I went back I just clicked the "automatic speaker configuration" "off" and "on" and it also worked. Why bothered? Wasn't quite sure I had indicated the correct "output"). But the main reason for writing this comment is to communicate just how terrific it was to feel so frustrated (and worse) not to be able to hear the sound on DaVinci Resolve when it had worked perfectly last time I used it for - - and then to have somebody be so patient and thorough with every single step so that I could follow it!!!! Felt major major major relief and JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't finding the answers elsewhere and so if you hadn't taken the trouble I'd be totally stuck! Very very grateful that you took the time to share your expertise!!!!! Sandra
15:13 I had two audio tracks in my timeline. I muted one so I could only hear the other. When I unmuted it the sound didn't come back on. I was ready to join the bald side. After watching, I looked and the mix fader was all the way down 🤷♂ Thanks for the tip!
Thanks a lot. I could see the waveform in my track. I could even see the meters moving in the mixer, but I couldn't hear any sound. Moving my audio to a new track solved my problem
Terrific. I was 3 minutes into your video and saw your lists of compatible formats. I'd been using OBS to record sound in MKV (which OBS recommends) then using VLC to convert that to 'MP3 (MP4)'. DaVinci hated this, so I tried setting the audio output in OBS to plain MP4 and DaVinci cheered up straight away, both my gameplay and commentary appeared on seperate tracks just as I'd wanted.
Related: I use ShareX for screen video/sound capture on Windows. MP4 files import, but no sound (no waveform). Had to change MP3 to AAC in ShareX, then DaVinci is happy again. It seems to be picky with MP3?
what actually worked for me was updating from 18 to 18.6.4 restarting, upgrading my project database and changing the io source accordingly. this was def not the experience i was expecting but im glad i got it working. thank you for posting this extensive review.
For everyone which used all ways to find a solution for 'no sound' and no work , the 99% of problems is the video format ,they dont allow some of them , so try to convers/transcod ur video format.
So that is a wealth of things I could have never discovered on my own but what finally fixed it for me was dragging the clip to the timeline instead of the right click add thing. With the exceedingly amazing capability of DR I guess a glitch once in a while is a small price to pay. I do have Studio Version 18.5 and the Speed Editor Keyboard and highly recommend both but had to put a new NVidia GPU in to get it running. Thanks Jason!
Thank you so much, my audio stopped working in middle of editing and I was going crazy, as I tried everything and didn’t work. Watched your video for 5min and fixed 🙌🏻🙌🏻
The most honest graphic program DaVinci review in history: 30+ minutes instruction of about: "18 very important thing to do", just only to U can have any sounds :)
I took a video using my iPhone and converted the MOV file to MP4 using VLC. The MP4 video runs fine in VLC but I couldn't get a waveform on the audio clip when dragged to DaVinci. I tried all your suggestions to no avail .. then I remembered you mentioned Handbrake. So I took the MOV file and used Handbrake to encode to MP4. Now DaVinci shows the waveform. Thanks!
When an audio clip doesn't have any sound even when you test in the imported media section, try the following: - Right-click on the clip in the Media section - Click replace the selected clip - Pick the exact file from the file selector This is useful when you test the mp3 file outside Davinci Resolve and it works but sound was lost when in Davinci.
Thanks! My dumb ass had it muted in the edit tab. Sad to say it took me about an hour to get to this point. Literally checked everything except for that. Working great now! Thanks again!
Bravo!! I was wasted from working on my taxes, and when I went into DR for relief, I suddenly find no volume. But I got volume from UA-cam, so it likely had to be something in DR. I watched you UA-cam, and what do you know, something stupid that I never touch...the volume was muted. Quick fix. Back to taxes. Owed the gov money, but DR was back working. Thank you. In my wasted state, I probably would have wasted more time looking for mor complicated problems.
My last audio problem was because I normally access by studio computer by remote desktop, so I had Davinci preferences set to system audio rather than the audio interface that I use for mic and monitoring when shooting video. I opened Davinci on the studio computer though and although I could hear everything fine in Audacity I couldn't hear my clips in Davinci. I finally figured it out and set it to my audio interface. Later, when I connected remotely I couldn't hear audio again, but fortunately I remembered being able to select i/o device in the preferences.
So much thank you my friend. 🙏 I’m using Bluetooth headphones. (Not for long now) and closing and opening Resolve AFTER the headphones connect was the fix that worked for me. I appreciate you.
Love you dude, you saved my life! (my problem was sooo specific...I heard the audio generally but not when hearing over the audio waveforms...which made it almost impossible to edit. I played around a bit with the Mute, Volume and DIM and BOOM....problem fixed
Thank you so much bless you. I was having problems and actually wanted to pull my hair out, but i watched this video and it started working. Earned a new sub :D
In 18.6, my Patch Input/Output had no options for Audio Outputs. For anyone having this issue, read ahead for how I fixed it. I closed and opened Da Vinci Resolve and then it showed "Digital Audio (S/PDIF)" as my only option which doesn't output to my headphones. But my headphones did show up in Preferences/Video Audio IO/Output device, so I switched it from "Use system settings" to my headphones and that fixed the issue. Pretty strange that it mis-read my system settings. I wouldn't have figured that out without this video, thanks!
Great video THANK YOU. Mien was working perfectly yesterday and didn't work today and I'd changed nothing. Turned out to be preferences Audio I/O. You're a saviour! Thanks again Jason.
Thank you. My problem was that I was sending it to my sound interface and the computer was using it too. What fixed it was to use system's sound rather than selecting the interface
Amazing tips! Saved me tons of frustrations as soundless effect didn't stop at a few tips. Hence, CoPilot, OpenAI, Gemini were all hopeless. I did up to tip 18 or 19 and found the simple solution from your tips: simply turned on the BT speaker (understanding not recommended by Jason) prior to signing in DaVinci. Voila! Problem solved. Thanks a lot Jason. As a novice, I much enjoy your shows (and Casey's) the way you talked, and the information you presented. Best!
OMG YOU FIXED IT THANK YOU SO MUCH!! It doesn't recognize my headphones as a thing that exists, I guess. Then because it had attempted to connect to them and panicked, it wouldn't connect to anything else either and needed to be manually set in preferences. I never would have figured that out lol 10/10 video, can now hear sound :D
Mine changed the output device in Davinci Resolve. Thanks for the video! There's nothing worse than having to deal with technical issues as soon as you start editing.
Thank you so much! I've tried everything till 23 minute and didn't expect that something will help. But the simplest adding one more track have fixed the problem. Thanks!
If I can add my two cents here, when working with an MP4 file, if you once had sound, and suddenly lose it after generating proxy media, unlinking proxy media will bring it back. I recently imported a batch of MP4 video files and this exact scenario occurred. No issues with MOV thankfully.
Guys, i was so frustrated with the whole issue and not even this video was able to help me! The issue I found out is that, when you use Windows 11, make sure that the "Windows Sonic for Headphones" is unchecked when working with DaVinci... Great Video anyways!
Thanks very much. In my case, after setting everything right in my Windows settings (Beringer UMC202HD External Sound card), In Resolve under "Audio I/O" / I/O Engine, I had to choose "System Audio " and all was fine again!
Thanks Jason. Your tip number ??? fixed my issue. DR had gone quiet on my main PC audio out. There was a mismatch between the PC's audio out speaker selection setting and what DR was set to under PREFERENCES / VIDEO AND AUDIO IO / OUTPUT DEVICE. Once I got them in synch all worked as expected. Why, however, DR doesn't simply default to the Window's audio setting is for brighter minds than mine to pontificate.
But wait, there's more... after fixing the issue I switched from speakers to headphones. No sound in DR. WT?! Checked all the settings that I'd just spent hours troubleshooting. Then I realized that just before switching to headphones I'd moved recent Fairlight edits from an isolated SOLO track (the green "S" in the track header) to another track. I dawned the headphones, hit PLAY but DR was now only playing the empty SOLO track. Duh. So both SOLO and the simple MUTE buttons on tracks can trip us up as well.
You have just saved my life thanks so much for this great video mate I've spent all morning trying to get the sound back on my project But thanks to you all is well in my world again
Thanks for this man. Appreciate it very much as I almost pulled my hair out. 😅 it was the Bluetooth for me. I was using my AirPods and I couldn't hear anything.
As others have said, very thorough. Sadly I still can't hear my clips, I could yesterday. But and it's a big BUT I now have a lot more understanding of Resolve as I'm only a week into it.
If it was working fine yesterday, it’s probably the settings and preferences. That’s the most common culprit. Go to the Davinci Resolve menu at the top left, go to system settings, go to system, and then video and audio I/O and check your audio output settings. Sometimes that changes automatically.
I have found that I only have 8 options in the Fairlight Patch section all of which are Realtek Digital Audio.. But when I click the 3 dots and click Rename I see there are 10 I can rename. The first 2 being NVIDIA HD , but they don't show up anywhere else in Resolve for me to be able to select them. I'm having to use the monitor speakers over HDMI at the moment, it's just how it is.@@JasonYadlovski
I was reluctant to restart Resolve as I made some edits that I didn't want to lose, but also didn't want to bake a problem into my project by saving it, I'm new to it. But, bit the bullet and restarted Resolve and now the audio works. Of course I've also changed settings on the pc and Resolve back and forth in an attempt to clear the problem, I'm fairly certain they are back as they were, but now I ONLY have the NVidia as a choice in the Patch Destination Audio setting and Monitor out is patched to them. Many thanks for your response.
Hey! Are you trying to patch for recording? You shouldn't need to patch anything to get audio out of Resolve. You should be able to use the settings in preferences. Resolve does have a steep learning curve. It took me a few months to get the hang of it when I started. Lots of little things that are challenging until you figure it out. Once you know all the basics, it seems fairly easy. I'd say get in there and learn it little by little. Now there's a tutorial for just about everything, so if you get stuck search it on YoUTube. If you still can't find the answer, drop me a comment and I'n happy to help if I can.
No I wasn't recording, but for some reason and it may have due to the pc having gone to sleep, the NVidia HD o/p wasn't there as a default in any of the settings. I only noticed it was missing when I looked at the patch settings as you suggested in the video. Ordinarily I wouldn't go that far on a first date. Your offer of support is most generous, I think I subbed after the first viewing. If not I will. Many thanks again.@@JasonYadlovski
So my issue was something not even mentioned but your guide around the patching/monitoring led me to find it. I use a piece of software call Voicemeeter Banana and it was routing the audio in the backend. I only discovered Da Vinci was sending the audio there because of the patching menu. So thanks for that. Hopefully this comment helps out others using the same software as me.
Great video, very very thorough, left no stone unturned. However, there is one thing I found that caused this no audio with video problem, of course it's on a winblows machine, and that is the actual file itself. While it will play on your computer with sound just fine it will not have sound in Davinci Resolve 18, maybe even earlier versions too. So here's what happened. I downloaded a TikTok video to edit and remix, so far it hasn't mattered how I downloaded it there was no audio in Davinci Resolve 18. I tried exporting the file unchanged, and the exported file had no sound also. Not sure what is happening here yet. Maybe sommeone here can figure it out. To get the audio I had to view it in VLC, strip the audio out, import the audio into Davinci Resolve 18 and sync it to the original video and mute the original audio track, just to be safe that it wouldn't later interfere. So since all other view players have audio with these clips, there must be a bug or probelm with Davinci Resolve 18.
I had a rca type headset plugged into my computer. Those got old went back. I upgraded to usb c type headset and no sound. I did the whole restart, test restart plug in out. NO GO, I bought the old type rca pin type headset and did a restart and plugged the new new headset in and restarted resolve. It works now! Thanks for this video, I was pulling my hair out too.
AAAAAH! 11:50 that did the trick. Thanks a lot for this, you just saved me. For some reason Resolve changed from my audio interface to the on board Realtek stuff.
i attempted to record voice in davinci resolve fairlight but encountered issues. if you face a similar problem, try disconnecting external earphones, microphones, and headphones. check if the voice recording works with the system's built-in microphone and speakers. if it does, the problem likely lies with the external devices. in my case, I was using zebronics headphones with a detachable voice recorder, which I had removed previously without realizing it. consequently, the recording wasn't functioning with the zebronics headphones because the recorder wasn't connected. i only realized this oversight when I observed that recording without external devices worked fine. this highlights the importance of ‘separation of concerns’. after reconnecting the external microphone recorder to the zebronics headphones, the voice recording functioned as expected.
Hi Jason.....I'm back! This time you helped with my sound, once you got to the Mixer Faders part that did the trick.............Thank you for always being there with your great videos when I need them 😊
Great video - downloaded FB video which wouldn't play sound in Da Vinci - sound was nothing. Played OK in windows from download. Weird! Your suggestion for Handbrake was spot on- did that as mp4 with 30fps frame rate etc. and it worked in Da Vinci. Nicely done!
Thank you so much. I got help from 20:59 of your video. But my problem was with the buttons turned on - the buttons of S, M. Somehow or for some reason it was turned on, different from your video. So once I turned it off, the sound suddenly returned to me. This is my big applause to Mr. Jason Ydlovski!
I have the following problem: i import the clip on davinci resolve but when i put it in the timeline the audio part doesn't show waveforms at all. I tried changing the clip format, i tried changing every setting of the audio indicated in this video, in davinci resolve and on the computer but there is no way. I'm desperate, i spent several hours on this and I have no idea about what to do. I have a brand new computer that is an hp15s with windows 11 home installed and the version i have of davinci resolve is 18.1.4 please🤕
Thanks Jason for this wonderful resource on understanding audio better for DaVinci Resolve. I loved the idea of recording live switching on the ISO model, which I have, which is also why I'm switching from Final Cut. But even after watching several videos on how to fix audio I'm still not seeing my audio or waveforms. Here's a copy of what I wrote on Blackmagic's forum. "I have DaVinci Resolve 18.6.4, MacOS 14.2.1, MacBook Pro M3 Max, ATEM Pro Mini ISO SDI. I did a test recording, opened up the DaVinci file. The switching of video worked just fine. I just don't have audio, nor do I see waveforms. No meters as well. I've tried everything from this video and still nothing works. Help. I've tried the following: 1. Made sure output in Preferences are outputting to speakers. 2. Patched input/output in Fairlight 3. Toggled on/off the various ways to show waveforms 4. Went to mixing, audio page to play around with options. The audio is AAC at 48K The strange thing is that since ISO records each media file, the audio folder does have the audio files. The video files only shows video, no audio. The MPEG-4 file with the cuts doesn't contain audio. Please help. I've switched from Final Cut to this thinking that my workflow would be much much easier."
Thanks so much for checking out the video! I’m just about to get the HD8 ISO to work with at my church, so I’m not too familiar with the process of recording it into DaVinci Resolve just yet. But I will make some videos on it and I’ll see if you’re coming, so hopefully I can get back to you with some more details on how to get it all working properly.
oooooooooooo, my answer is right there in 23:30, "create a new track and drag the timeline clip on to the new track" and voila it worked!! I had done every single thing prior to this and nothing worked! Thanks Jason 😫 What still remains strange is that on that same track that the audio did not work on, other audio clips worked fine. Why davinci is selectively not playing out some audio clips from an entire timeline is beyond me
Dude I was getting so frustrated dealing with this. Went through the whole thing, meters werent moving, and it wasn't until I moved the audio clip on a new audio track (tip 19) that it actually worked. Funny thing is I did that prior to watching the video and still had no audio. Probably was a combination of the patching tip and new track but either way I appreciate the help!
Thank you for helping me at 2:38 on a Sunday morning. You solved my problem (it was the A1>>Bus). I can render and catch a few zzzzs before uploading my magnum opus. Cheers!
OK Thank you. Hrs lost to windows muting da Vinci. I never would have found that setting without your video. Love your BIG WHITE HORSE you rode in on to save my a**. Killer man Cheers.
You havent been super active recently, I hope you are alright😁! Been here before like 8k subscribers. Anyways, I have been working on an edit in davinci, I was just wondering if there is any way to check how long you have spent editing a video, in statistics or something like that.
Thanks for being part of the community for so long! It’s been a crazy few weeks for me, a couple of my kiddos have been sick and I haven’t been able to make videos and get in the studio. Sometimes life gets a little busy and crazy. 😜 i’m hoping to hit the ground running this week again and get back on track. I don’t think there’s any way to look at your stats although I’ve never really checked around for something like that. If I come across it, I’ll make a video about it.
The video helped me to learn a lot of stuff and how Davinchi can work but sadly didn't solve my problem, still thank you so much ! After trying to search into everything on my computer i had a corrupted installation of resolve, resolve can sometimes be corrupted or install in the wrong disc drive if you have multiples disk i guess it's a new issue because no one addressed it(at least it seem..), and i really want to help people and address the problem to you because you did a excellent job in term of explanation, i wish resolve would make an entire section dedicated to audio problems and fix all the issue that are currently happening.. I can either adress the problem to you or maybe make a video about fixings the bugs that i had in resolve but you already did that and i don't want to copy you so i wonder if i can have the authorization to use some tips and tricks that you showed to make a more detailed video about fixing the no audio problem that i had. It's a bit complicated to explain but if peoples are interested i will make a google doc to show them how to not corrupt davinchi resolve and have a clean instalation to have the audio again i just started the software and it can be a pain the butt haha. Thanks for reading and have a good day !
HI! Happy to hear you found a fix for your issue. I'd say totally make a video about it. You can use some of my tips, no worries. Tag me or mention me in the video if you want, o drop a link back to this video if you want. The more people we can help the better! 😁

Yep that was all it needed.
Tysm, I was really confused because I was hearing it in Video Player but not in DR.
The same bug exists on the iPad, pro version of da Vinci resolve. Re-opening the app also seems to Fix it on that platform.

Great! Yeah that Render Cache gets all kinds of clogged up and takes up tons of space if you don't clear it out from time to time. Thanks for sharing!

When an audio clip doesn't have any sound even when you test in the imported media section, try the following:
- Right-click on the clip in the Media section
- Click replace the selected clip
- Pick the exact file from the file selector
This is useful when you test the mp3 file outside Davinci Resolve and it works but sound was lost when in Davinci.
THIS!!!
Still dont working, ive tried everything and resolve doesnt get the audio. Its a MP4 format, mono
it doesnt work .. i have the same issue but doesnt work... it has audio in m video player and loses audio (empty) when i insert in davinci...
@@J_Jay_ Nice man, thanks !
Thanks!
Thanks! My dumb ass had it muted in the edit tab. Sad to say it took me about an hour to get to this point. Literally checked everything except for that. Working great now! Thanks again!
You are a genius. I fixed my issues while you pointing to Bus one. Thank you so much 🙏
Glad you found the fix and it was easy! Doing taxes is no fun, I don’t enjoy it either. 😜👍
Glad you figured it out! Yeah, Resolve likes to change outputs sometimes, that's always the first thing I check and is usually the problem.
So much thank you my friend. 🙏 I’m using Bluetooth headphones. (Not for long now) and closing and opening Resolve AFTER the headphones connect was the fix that worked for me. I appreciate you.
Glad I could help!
Love you dude, you saved my life! (my problem was sooo specific...I heard the audio generally but not when hearing over the audio waveforms...which made it almost impossible to edit. I played around a bit with the Mute, Volume and DIM and BOOM....problem fixed
Glad I could help!
I WAS SO CONFUSED MAN, WENT THROUGHT THE ENTIRE VIDEO THEN I FINALLY UPDATE MY LAPTOP WHICH I JUST BOUGHT AD BOOM EVERYTHING WORKS. THANKS!!!
Glad you got it working!
Wow!! Putting the audio on a new track solved the problem. Many thanks.
My issue was bus outputs, and had to scroll down. Can't believe how complicated that was, but thanks man! You saved me hours of headache!
Awesome, glad you found the fix for your situation! Thanks for dropping comment, I appreciate you checking out the video. Happy editing!
23:20 moving the sound to another track is what worked for me! Thank you!!!
Great!
Thank you so much bless you. I was having problems and actually wanted to pull my hair out, but i watched this video and it started working. Earned a new sub :D
You're welcome! Thanks for the sub, I hope you find lots of good info!
You’re welcome!
Thank you. My problem was that I was sending it to my sound interface and the computer was using it too. What fixed it was to use system's sound rather than selecting the interface
when I got desperate, restarting the computer helped. so thank you bro 🙏
Great!
"bus 1" did it for me. Thanks for the great advice! :)
Best!
always great to go through your checklist, when the audio doesn´t work. Helped me twice already. Thanks a lot!
Awesome, glad I could help! 😁👍
Thank you so much. This has been bugging me for months now. It used to work; then it stopped and I couldn't figure it out. Jon
Phew, Audio I/O- changed it to use system settings. Thank you for taking the time to do this video.
OMG YOU FIXED IT THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
It doesn't recognize my headphones as a thing that exists, I guess. Then because it had attempted to connect to them and panicked, it wouldn't connect to anything else either and needed to be manually set in preferences. I never would have figured that out lol
10/10 video, can now hear sound :D
Glad I could help!
Thank you bro turns out i just needed to change the output. You`ve definitely earn my sub :)
Awesome, you're welcome!
Mine changed the output device in Davinci Resolve. Thanks for the video! There's nothing worse than having to deal with technical issues as soon as you start editing.
Glad you found a fix, thanks for sharing! I agree it’s a pain when you’ve got issues before you can get started. 😜
Thank you so much! I've tried everything till 23 minute and didn't expect that something will help. But the simplest adding one more track have fixed the problem. Thanks!
Awesome, glad you found a fix!
@@JasonYadlovski That was my problem as well. Spents hours trying to solve this. Thanks!
It was the "reset UI layout that worked", thanks for the video!
Glad it helped!
If I can add my two cents here, when working with an MP4 file, if you once had sound, and suddenly lose it after generating proxy media, unlinking proxy media will bring it back. I recently imported a batch of MP4 video files and this exact scenario occurred. No issues with MOV thankfully.
Thanks for sharing!
Took me all the way to 23:18 but you got me up and running thanks man!
Guys, i was so frustrated with the whole issue and not even this video was able to help me! The issue I found out is that, when you use Windows 11, make sure that the "Windows Sonic for Headphones" is unchecked when working with DaVinci... Great Video anyways!
Thank you for sharing your fix! As a Mac guy, I wouldn't have found that one, but it could help a lot of people. Thanks! 😁
Number 5 worked for me. Had my speakers at 192,000hz then set to 48,000hz and worked instantly. Shoots thanks man.
Thanks very much. In my case, after setting everything right in my Windows settings (Beringer UMC202HD External Sound card), In Resolve under "Audio I/O" / I/O Engine, I had to choose "System Audio " and all was fine again!
Awesome! Glad you got it working! Thanks for sharing your fix, hopefully it will help others too!
Blimey - thanks Jason !! (Somehow I stopped the bus and, not for the first time, I wasn't allowed back on it).
You're welcome!
Thank you! That DR preferences setting helped me get sound.
You're welcome!
Your are genius - I needed just to set my headset (Bluetooth) in Windows as default for DaVinci!
Nice! Glad you got it working!
You're welcome! Yeah, that's a common issue for Resolve. Sometimes it grabs the wrong output. I don't know why that is.....
I didn't hear anything while moving in timeline, reseting the UI solve my problem! Thank you very much :DD
Great to hear!
You have just saved my life thanks so much for this great video mate I've spent all morning trying to get the sound back on my project But thanks to you all is well in my world again
Glad I could help!
Thank you! Got to point 7 and resolved my issue!! :) So simple but your guidance saved me from being really frustrated!
Excellent!
Great video, helped me fix a self-induced issue.
I checked everything mentioned in this video and found nothing wrong. What did was shutdown and restart the software and bingo it worked!
Thanks for this man. Appreciate it very much as I almost pulled my hair out. 😅 it was the Bluetooth for me. I was using my AirPods and I couldn't hear anything.

Thank you so much. it's funny how the davinci was muted into the app section. Really appreciate your help. now I'm up and running.🕺🕺🕺
Awesome, you’re welcome!
Thank you!!!! For me, it was my Bluetooth speakers that was causing it! Much appreciated Jason!!! :D
You're welcome!
Thanks for sharing your fix!
Thanks for sharing your experience! There are definitely more things to troubleshoot on a PC than on a Mac.
Glad you got it working!
AAAAAH! 11:50 that did the trick. Thanks a lot for this, you just saved me.
For some reason Resolve changed from my audio interface to the on board Realtek stuff.
You're welcome! Glad you found a fix!
i attempted to record voice in davinci resolve fairlight but encountered issues. if you face a similar problem, try disconnecting external earphones, microphones, and headphones. check if the voice recording works with the system's built-in microphone and speakers. if it does, the problem likely lies with the external devices.
in my case, I was using zebronics headphones with a detachable voice recorder, which I had removed previously without realizing it. consequently, the recording wasn't functioning with the zebronics headphones because the recorder wasn't connected. i only realized this oversight when I observed that recording without external devices worked fine.
this highlights the importance of ‘separation of concerns’. after reconnecting the external microphone recorder to the zebronics headphones, the voice recording functioned as expected.
Thanks so much for sharing, I’m glad you were able to figure it out. Hopefully this will help somebody else out there too.
Great video, bluetooth headphones was the culprit for me, worked instantly with wired headphones
Great! Yeah those Bluetooth headphones cause issues, I don’t know why.
Yep, Bluetooth headphones was my problem, cheers for the help.
Glad you figured it out!
Hi Jason.....I'm back! This time you helped with my sound, once you got to the Mixer Faders part that did the trick.............Thank you for always being there with your great videos when I need them 😊
Awesome, glad I could help out again!
Thanks! Glad you got it working! I just used Handbrake yesterday. Love that little program.
@@JasonYadlovski - it's saved me a couple of times now. It sits on my desktop as a reminder. Loved your approach on this video - really appreciate it.
Awesome, glad you’re able to figure out the problem and get some audio working. 😁👍
Thank you so so much. Moving audio into a new Track fixed the problem
Just turned off Bluetooth like you said it worked just fine! Thanks
Awesome!
The waveforms!!! That was my problem. Thank you soo much buddie!!!
You bet!
the audio isn't showing in flairlight but showing in cut and edit tab
By audio, do you mean the waveforms?
I have the following problem: i import the clip on davinci resolve but when i put it in the timeline the audio part doesn't show waveforms at all.
I tried changing the clip format, i tried changing every setting of the audio indicated in this video, in davinci resolve and on the computer but there is no way. I'm desperate, i spent several hours on this and I have no idea about what to do. I have a brand new computer that is an hp15s with windows 11 home installed and the version i have of davinci resolve is 18.1.4
please🤕
Try clearing out your cache file, location, if it’s full, resolve might not create the waveforms.
@@JasonYadlovski how i do that?
Here’s a video how to do it: ua-cam.com/video/czNHR2hm5FI/v-deo.html
Help.
I've tried the following:
1. Made sure output in Preferences are outputting to speakers.
2. Patched input/output in Fairlight
3. Toggled on/off the various ways to show waveforms
4. Went to mixing, audio page to play around with options.
The audio is AAC at 48K
The strange thing is that since ISO records each media file, the audio folder does have the audio files.
Why davinci is selectively not playing out some audio clips from an entire timeline is beyond me
Glad you found a fix!
Hey Jason, the last timestanp is broken with „xx:085“ - mismatch with max **:59 secs value :)
Thanks! I’ll take a look and fix it up. 👍
Yippee!!! #19 worked for me! Thank you!!!
Sweet! 👍

You havent been super active recently, I hope you are alright😁! Been here before like 8k subscribers. Anyways, I have been working on an edit in davinci, I was just wondering if there is any way to check how long you have spent editing a video, in statistics or something like that.
