      The WORST thing about Uber Eats is McDonalds! I am a late night driver and McD is usually the only request I get. It's a waste of my time and money because I have to go thru the drive thru and WAIT. Tonight I waited 25 minutes for one meal / no tip because of the long wait for the food I suspect. I'm over it...NO MORE LATE NIGHT DELIVERIES...FIND ANOTHER CLOWN McD

    I cleared 3k last month doing only ubereats. Im in Dallas. Sending a pre typed message when you pick up the food to the customers works too(a lot of people appreciate it because most drivers dont ever try and make contact they just take forever trying to find the place). Something along the lines of "Hey just letting you know i just got your food and ill let you know when im close so you can meet me outside!" 90% of people will have no problem coming to meet you. People know beforehand whether theyre gonna tip you or not so I don't waste my time finding an apt in a complex. All that time will add up and subtract significantly from your earnings. If they don't answer, hit the timer and when the timer is done, end and onto the next. Uber will have your back if the customer says it was not delivered but you attempted to make contact and stayed for the 5 minutes.

      epcotcenter82 If the customer cancels the order after you've picked it up, or if they don't receive the order (dont answer the door or not answering the phone) then you just keep the food for yourself. I'm not totally sure how the payment works out for that. I think in most areas you just get a $5 credit instead of the full trip amount. I only had that happen once though in hundreds of deliveries. Probably not something to worry about. Hope this helps!!

      epcotcenter82 try and call them. If they dont answer, go back to the uber app and right above confirm drop off you should see "soandso didnt answer?". Hit that, itll start a 5 minute timer and that's all you have to wait. They dont show up by the 5 minutes, dont END the trip, CANCEL the trip because then they cant give you a thumbs down. And then yeah the food is yours. My lunch today was a grandys order somebody didnt pick up for.

    First off...great video. Thank you very much. I signed up for UberEats to supplement my income (help pay my kids tuition), and used this video as a tutorial before making my first run.
    I'm delivering just south of Portland, OR.
    First batch of deliveries today...ended up with 7 stops and just over $70 ... tips were included on four of my stops. That included a big one from my first delivery which ended up being a sizable business lunch.
    I agree, delivering to apartments or business complexes was definitely the most difficult. Finding your way through those maze of numbers can be difficult often times even if you have solid instructions. I had trouble on stop number two finding a business in the middle of a drab complex where everything looked the same. Eventually found the lady who had come out to the curb to search me out. Explained it was my first day and she left me with kind words, a smile and a tip that at least matched what she must have spent on food.
    I did two rounds ... one during lunch hour which will be my most typical time, then another round in the evening to get some more practice. Finding apartments after dark is ten-fold difficult :)
    A couple questions...
    Is there any way of knowing your final destination before accepting an order?
    I found that near the end of my window, I wanted to work my way closer to home, but I couldn't find anyway to know the final destination, so a couple times I got pulled in the complete opposite direction ... once by a long shot.
    Any tips for cell phones? Sun glare was killing me on my navigation during lunch hour and my phone ran out of juice literally as I parked my car to make my final delivery of the night.
    thanks much

    One thing that helps with the not enough information from the customer con is to call/text the customer once you pick up the food from the restaurant. That way, if there is any information you'll need to complete the delivery like a gate code or apartment number, you can have it ahead of time if the information isn't already in the app.

    One more tip I've picked up six weeks in.
    Before you start your shift, give yourself a set time when you will hit the 'Go Offline' button and quit for the day.
    I've found it far too tempting to catch that one last delivery that will hopefully get me a bit closer to home only to get sent completely the opposite direction and getting left with a long drive home to end the night.
    Twice this week, I've lucked out and finished with deliveries within a mile or two of my home, but three other times I tried to sneak in that extra stop late in my shift and ended up with long drives home, getting back a good half-hour after I had hoped.
    Portland, OR delivery here. In my experience Thai food, Teriyaki and Chinese food are the biggest wildcards.
    McDonalds, sub shops and your chain sit-down spots (Denny's, etc) tend to be mostly close deliveries.
    Five Guys is the wildcard. Probably 60-40 long deliveries. Had a customer explain that there was a promotion going on, so he selected the Five Guys that was 20 minutes away instead of the one that was half as far from his place.
    Always seems strange to me when I get a $12-$14 delivery to bring a plate of noodles across the city.
    I don't mind a longer trip now and again, but prefer quick hitters. More trips = more tips.

    Started a week ago. First night was a nightmare. lol. I do better in my township since I'm familiar with area, parking is great, etc. Instant pay means I don't have to go into my bank account every day for stuff like milk, lunch money for my kid, etc., and I love the flexibility. I usually startxmy day by picking up one on my way to my full time job. That's my lunch money for the day. lol. Then in the evening I drive for 2-3 hours, maybe stop home for a bit, maybe go back out if I feel like it. Run my quick errands in between pick ups.

My first delivery - know the restaurant, easy pickup, but somehow from pickup to heading to guest, it got screwy and would only give me the restaurants address and number. had to go back to restaurant + call in too, she gave me the customer support number and i was able to get in touch with support to get the address (once I had picked up the delivery, the address no longer showed up at the restaurant so they were just as clueless as I was where this was going). My wife has been doing Doordash for over a year now. She is all signed up for Uber Eats but is concerned about whether or not it has any strange quirks to its system. Her concern is based upon when she tried out for Postmates and their odd process (personally unable to define what the oddity was / is). I see it as fairly straight forward. Especially as there is no need to make the purchase for the customer on an Uber Eats CC.
    Do you know if a couple can use the same vehicle to drive for Uber Eats? I am wanting to start up on weekends but don't have a qualifying vehicle beyond the one my wife uses.
    Thanks - good / great video

    • @MoyerOfficial
      @MoyerOfficial  4 роки тому +1

      I personally think Uber Eats deliveries are pretty straight forward as well. Especially not having to pay for orders, that's huge. All processed directly through the app. So you just navigate to and from restaurants and customers' homes. As for driving on the same vehicle, I am fairly sure you would both need to be "signed up" and approved on the vehicle individually. That may be something to call Uber Eats support about and ask them, as I haven't encountered that before. You can call a support number through the HELP section on the Uber Driver App and they may know. The other option is to find your local Uber office and ask in person. You can find that location by searching "Uber Greenlight Hub" and your city/state. Hope this helps! Let me know if any other questions come up.

    they just added "tips" in the chicago area, i've had one customer, a wise ass, "got change for $100?", after that, i've had change for $100! the tips is a good thing and a bad thing, bad, maybe Uber reports the tips to the IRS. i was driving for uber until 2 months ago, my car overheated. i had it "fixed" at a mercedes dealer, it's still behaving the same, felt like i got a $900 car wash. first weeks i drove for uber eats i was making almost $600 a week, they added McD's and my income dropped 50%, you drive 3-6 miles to McDs and wait 10 minutes to drive one mile to deliver $5! McD's will KILL uber eats, McD's don't tip! and it's usually a mile or less.

      well i got a "regular job" and start wednesday, it's a "temp" position in a warehouse, 3-6 months, then after that's over, 6 months of unemployment :) i'll probably get a new car in 2 months if the job holds up, but if Uber starts doing burger king, they are done! (i had some KFC's as well)

      I work for Postmates and just signed up for UE. When you get a call for Postmates, it shows you the name and location of the restaurant so you can skip whatever you don’t want to deliver. I’ve found that burgers and tacos such as McDs, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell will usually not get you a tip. I only do burgers and tacos after everything else is closed. One time I cancelled a McDonalds order because I took a sneak peek at the order and found out it was for three dollar burgers! 😂😂

    • @BounnoyPhanthavong
      @BounnoyPhanthavong 5 років тому +2

      @@mrbadx19 Yeah, I really hate Mc Donalds. I usually just cancel once I see Mc Donalds pop up. I try to stay away from areas where I know there will be a Mc Donalds order. I took one for the hell of it last night. Took me 10 minutes to drive to the McDonalds location. When I got there, it was obviously not open so I cancelled and called phone support. Spent another 10 minutes telling them what happened and got just $3 for wasting my time. McDonalds suck. They need to pay drivers 3x the amount for that crap.

    As far as tips go, I've made two deliveries in 10 days and received tips on 7 of them. Although he is spot on about the wealthy not tipping. My longest trip last night sent me about 20 minutes into the area's swanky neighborhood and it was my only trip of the night that came without tip. I remember picking up the order, seeing where I was going and letting out a groan knowing a long wasted trip was likely ahead.

    First day driving...I've found the person they attach to you for text help to be moderately helpful, but using the "Get Support" button while out on deliveries is a waste of time.
    Here I'll take care of it for you "Can you restart the app?" "Did you do that?" "Okay, can you restart your phone?"
    That's the extent of the trouble shooting, which got me nowhere. I eventually figured out myself that I had not clicked one of the buttons on the app that I needed to proceed with the delivery. Simple stuff, but I was left to sort it out on my own in the middle of a delivery. Luckily, the customer at the end of the route was understanding and generous.

    And why does no-one tip the UberEats Driver? When I delivered pizzas you might get 3 or 4 'stiffs' on about 30 deliveries.. I've taken 40 stops for Uber Eats and only 2 people have tipped. Do the customers think we get the total amount of what they are charged or what?

    Question, will you always have customers? Or are there certain parts of the day where you won’t have any deliveries. Also, are the locations always close to you? Or do they go 20miles+ from you

    • @MoyerOfficial
      @MoyerOfficial  5 років тому +1

      sam Costin If you live in a bigger city, you will typically always have deliveries. Doesn't matter the time of day. Outside of bigger cities it's busy during lunch and dinner hours, but can slow down a good bit before or after those times. As for delivery distance, I've never really gotten one more than 20 miles. I think it's pretty rare, but it is possible. The vast majority of your deliveries would be between 1-10 miles. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions 👍

    • @samcostin7586
      @samcostin7586 5 років тому +1

      MoyerOfficial one more question.. do you make enough off deliveries to cover your gas and make a reasonable profit?

    • @MoyerOfficial
      @MoyerOfficial  5 років тому +1

      sam Costin I think you do, but there are a lot of factors. It's all about how quick you can get the deliveries completed. You really need to be getting 4 or 5 deliveries an hour to make decent money, maybe more. If it's a slow day, too much traffic, not enough demand for orders etc, then it's tough to make a good profit when you factor in gas. Either way, it takes a bit of time to figure out the best time of day to drive in your city, and what area is the best place to drive. Usually you need to hang around areas with the most available UberEats restaurants.

      They let you deliver via bicycle, that'd be where you'd make your money in NYC. However, I'm not sure how many ppl would order Uber Eats in the city, since you can pretty much walk out your front door and find food. Good luck to you though!!

    • @menthy
      @menthy 5 років тому +1

      @@badnewsbruner An enormous amount of people order UberEATS, Grubhub, Doordash, etc in NYC. People are so busy, many can't leave their desk during work and just order on their phone. Moms and dads both work and get home at 6, they're hungry, kids are hungry. It's so much easier to just press a few buttons on the phone and get food than cook a whole meal, or dress up the whole family to go out and eat overpriced NYC restaurant food. You may not live in NYC, so you may not understand how crazy expensive a lot of restaurants are. And the good places that are cheap, guess what? They're busy as f**k, and you have to wait a long time to sit down at a table. Online delivery for many people is no longer a luxury, but instead, a necessity. And yes, most delivery people in NYC use bicycles.

For those customer that doesn’t give a lot of detail of where their apartment is or gated code what do you usually? I usually just call them and turn on the timer regardless if they pick up or not and will try my best of the direction that was given to me by the customer at that time. When working for Uber eat time is really money and I will not spend to much time trying to find a customer house if their direction isn’t clear enough for me to find it.

    My first and last to drive uber eats -- never again. First when I got to the restaurant, I needed to wait almost 10 minutes for the food. Then I have to carry 6 heavy bags. Customer house is over 5 miles. When I finally reached the house, parking was difficult (I needed to park a little further because no parking close to the house). I have to do parallel parking which added more stress to myself as if I’m not stressed yet. Finally I parked then knocked on the door delivered the food politely .........then Customer took food. Then I left....
    It’s not good to expect a tip, but I am hoping the customer gives me even a dollar for all the trouble I went thru.... Nothing.....
    And the delivery, I only get paid $7.

      I'm not sure what UberEats actually wants you to do in that situation. Worth looking into. My thought would be to keep calling/texting the customer (the app gives you their name and number) and if after 15 minutes or so you still don't have an answer, you can cancel the order in the app. I believe in this case you would just keep the food. You could also leave the food if it seems like it would be a safe spot to leave it, and when you complete the trip on your app you can leave a note that states where you left it. I've done hundreds of deliveries and haven't had that happen though! Thanks

    Good summation of Uber Eats. Uber needs to firm up the rules on Uber Eats Drivers being told by customer to "leave food at the doorstep or garage" etc. Most cities have food guidelines regarding delivering food to people. Board of Health rules. Also, when you end up waiitng for food to be ready at restaurant (pickup location), many times the store help wont tell you how long it will be. So, what do you do to let customer know you'll be late dropping food off. Almost everyone ive delivered to is anxious to get the food. Their hungry and may be out of sorts if you're late.
    Do you call them? Well, you can, but that means you have to "Start Delivery" to get their phone #. That can result in a higher Delivery fee, not to mention a bad rating for "late dropping off food".
    Dont forget to tell customer that you HAD to wait at the store, the food was not ready. If you dont, they will ding you on review.

      I spoke with my insurance company. As long as I'm not driving riders around, it's not for commercial purposes and nothing changes.

      Im kinda worried geico might want to check my odometer.. before I started working for ubereats I was driving like 4000 miles a year.. which makes my insurance really cheap... first week with ubereats and drove 400 miles..

      Bethanie Arney State law is different for every state on that, for instance New York State requires commercial insurance even for food delivery, that's what it says when I tried to sign up for Amazon Flex

      why TF would you tell your insurance company? thats the stupidest thing to do. They will never find out. If you drive alot of miles, first they will never care, but lets imagine they ask, just say you went on an adventure trip

    He keeps picking his nose. People are saying he is handsome. I don't see it. He just looks normal to me.

      MoyerOfficial Don't sweat it. It's just my opinion and I'm not a fan of beards, too scratchy. I didn't notice the shoulder length hair before, that's actually cool. But to me, you just look ok like a normal guy.

      I got mine from UberEats with the insulated bag when I signed up! So they may actually give you one. If not, pretty easy to make your own 👍

    Do UberEats pay you for gas/mileage and if so what is the rate? And do you get paid instantly after you cash out for the day?

    • @MoyerOfficial
      @MoyerOfficial  6 років тому +1

      Unfortunately UberEats does not pay any additional money for gas/mileage. You can keep track of your mileage and write them off on your taxes, but that's about it. And yes, if you cash out at the end of the day the money goes into your account instantly. You don't have to cash out every day though. You get a weekly paycheck from UberEats if you don't use the Instant Pay feature. Hope this helps

      MoyerOfficial Do they charge you a fee if you use instant pay?

      Branden150 yes... I drive for Uber eats in Central California... it’s a 50¢ fee but it’s taken out after you get the full amount of what you earned... so after you cash out you’ll see that your new balance is -0.50
