Well all i needed to know was how to install a replacement handle. Thanks for skipping over what i needed to know. Guess im off to find a schematic. Worthless FORDS!
MrMarshall911 very carefully lol... But seriously it's a pain in the ass but I got mine out by unscrewing the latches and pulling the rods out. If they aren't connected at the latch end, then I wouldn't know where to start. Hope this can be some help.
How do you get the rod out if it fell down into the tailgate? My truck is still in excellent condition so I really don't want to cut into it or risk ruining it.
Hi, Maybe you can help me. 86 f150 tailgate. Replaced the strap on left side, no problems. Removed the bolts on the right side and now I can't get the bolts to connect or find the nuts inside the tailgate side. I thought they were fixed to the side of the tailgate, but maybe they fell down inside? Any ideas? Many thanks
nice video....I wish you would have shown us how the latch handle device works...my 79 has awful poor leverage and now the handle snapped off/broke on one side. Im looking at ir thru the hole and can't for the life of me figure how it actually moves anything.
How in the world do you get the tailgate down if the handle is broken and the rods have fallen down that would be a nice vid.Tks for any help you could give.mi
He DIDN'T show of give the Dorman Plastic clip package or part number this MIGHT be it Dorman 75450 BUT they also produce a package that has METAL clips that very well may work
Do you have any idea where to find the latches for the tailgate? I have an 86 f250 lariat, but the previous owner put a 96 bed on to replace the damaged one and now the tailgate won't work
Lol this has become my white whale at work 🤣 fix one part another sticks up it the handle is wailed on bolts are missing got the clips the nuts are gone for the bolts..... It's a beautiful truck though I'll get her tip top.

You should have sprayed the handle pivot points with penetrating oil when you had it apart . I guess you can still do it with it bolted

wedge/pry strike lugs back with screw driver one side at a time.
A little late but remove the 3 bolts on the inside of the tailgate where the latch it take the latch off then grab a hold of the rods and pull.
