- I was jammin to this song and thought I would throw together a quick cover.
The tuning is well low (Drop A) top string nearly coming off LOL.
Bit of bitch to mix but I think it turned out ok.
Backing track is from the Doom Troopin DVD, its a great track to jam to but some of the drum fills can be a bit wild as you can hear. I also played part of the solo a second time to simulate Nick Catanese's part.
Gear - Epiphone Les Paul Zakk Wylde Buzzsaw, Marshall JCM 800, Marshall 1960A Cab mic'd with 2 SHURE SM57's, MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive, MXR Zakk Wylde Chorus, Dunlop Zakk Wylde WAH, MXR Smartgate, BOSS RV5 Reverb.
Final mix done in Cubase 5.

Mate, I have no idea LOL its kind of one I avoided because of the tuning, like you I never expected it to stay in but it did. Maybe this is why Zakk uses the 11's the crane cables LOL and thanks dude :-)

Rock on, nice sound. Does the Zakk wylde overdrive help a lot with the pinchies and overall stripped low end tone?. Plain overdrve on high gain tube amp seems to resist the pinchies to me, especially the tighter the amps,
