3:58 Not sure if you guys noticed but when Arthur confronted Tommy and attempted to look him in the eyes, the moment Tommy returns his gaze Arthur immediately looks away/backs off. The amount of control Tommy has on everyone is crazy
Great spot! Never noticed that
Love is blinding. Tommy could see all of the angles but had a huge blindspot for Grace.
Same with his brother to his father. The overlap of the two plots.
So true. The very few people who declare it "bad writing" are just annoyed that their otherwise intelligent protagonist, has this realistic blindspot romantically. But it happens in real life all the time; clever men being duped by women they're attracted to.
@@TheRealMirCatOh wow, I never drew that parallel. Interesting layers to the story there.
I only just realized the reason Grace had to shoot them was in case they recognized her & expose her true identity
@@merriammerkabah408 i always thought it was more because she knew the police weren't gonna show up in time and she wanted to save tommy
"That's an arrest".😆
Nearly spat my drink 😂
That was great 😂
Punch his dick. WAMP!!😂😂
POLLY IS SO GOOD. rip helen mcrory. oscar worthy performance in this show
For a bit of context, Polly says that Arthur gave his dad £500. Depending on how you calculate it, today that would be somewhere near £25,000 or more than $30,000.
Man, i loved the show when i watched it but you forget how great it is just right off the bat. It's fun how invested you guys are already, looking forward to more.
Indeed, the first two series in particular were impeccable. I thought it lost its way in the final two series due to some lazy writing and very poor choice of director. Was heartbreaking- I loved this show so much!
That scar on Tommy Flanagan (Their dad) was from an attack in Glasgow, Scotland. It is sometimes referred to as a Glasgow Smile. The Joker has a similar wound.
He is also in Sons of Anarchy, which I highly recommend!
He was also in Gladiator and Sin City.
And Braveheart
3:26 "His scar is crazy"
Tommy Flanagan, the actor playing the Shelby dad, has these scars in real life. He said that he sustained his injury by getting jumped outside a bar in Glasgow where he worked as a DJ in his youth. He is the most prominent person I know of with this type of injury/scarring, known as a "Glasgow smile".
He's best known for his role as Chibs in Sons of Anarchy, where he plays a member of that biker gang. Chibs is from Glasgow just like his actor, though he grew up in Belfast and became involved with the IRA. I don't remember if Chibs' scars are ever explained, but in the season where the Sons have to go to Belfast to get Jax's kidnapped son back, he ends up giving an old friend/enemy a Glasgow smile too.
Great reaction, you two. And btw, that verse Arthur Shelby quotes? He partially misquotes it and leaves out the verse that comes after it to justify his wrongdoing. The scripture he quotes is Proverbs 6: 30-31. It speaks of how a thief may have noble reasons for stealing, even stealing only to satisfy his hunger. But regardless of his intentions for stealing, when caught, he will still pay a hefty price for his theft.
I feel so bad for Arthur. This really added a lot of context to his character
Boxing is a huge part of Traveller/Gypsy life from my experience here in UK. Often used to settle disputes
2:37 So nice of Arthur to bring his father a sandwich, and a whole unpeeled onion for dessert
This is one of the best episodes of the whole show imo
Love the series and loce your reactions. So emotionally natural.
it was so fun rewatching this!!
The dad has been in a few things...
Gladiator and hes Chibbs in Sons of Anarchy
Ah yeah the Sons.... Another show that stole my heart from the very beginning
need the next episode yesterday

"Thats an arrest" damn 😂
Sam Neill makes an amazing villain
He was great in Ivanhoe.
For me, Grace is the ultimate example of a beautiful girl with an alluring vibe that I'd want to forgive for anything. I know I'd be in trouble if I were in Tommy's spot.
29:55 This entire show is basically a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds music video, its creator was massively inspired by Nick Caves work. There is even a new faction coming later that's literally called the Red Right Hand. If you love the dark gritty vibe of this show I would highly recommend the film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford which is also musically scored by Nick Cave.
While the "red right hand" bit is a fun parallel reference, the one in the show is representative of the UVF whose symbol is the Red Hand of Ulster and the one in the song is a Paradise Lost reference. It's just a symbol people vibe with.
Tommy smashed that one guys head in tho 😂
The mouth scar is the actors actual scar. It's called the Glasgow grin.
Campbell was friends with her father. He is terrible
LOVED this reaction, ladies. You were so into it.❤
You ever heard of a Glasgow smile? It has other names but that’s the one I use. It might help explain those scars on the dad.
Also I’m loving this ladies, see you next time. You’ve already been through so much but we’re still at the tip of the iceberg.
The IRA guy was terrifying.
Dad with a scar was in Gladiator.
How is everyone saying Gladiator when he had an extremely small role, versus Braveheart?
His biggest role was sons of anarchy
Tommy Flanagan
20:49 Arthur should've clapped back an said the verse that comes after the verse his father said from the bible - 'Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold,
though it costs him all the wealth of his house.' 😂
Wildly gripping episode. Super entertaining, empathetic, and chatty reaction. Helluva show, right??!
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
And the next one!
Another history nerd comment here, but it's interesting how they portray the South Armagh IRA man. He's played by Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, who's a great actor, btw. But he announces himself as a member of the South Armagh Brigade as if that should mean something.
I feel they went with a more contemporary image of the IRA in South Armagh for this. During the Troubles (1969-1997) South Armagh was known as bandit country as the PIRA were proficient there.
But during the war of independence (1919-21) the northern IRA was less active than units in the south. Armagh was even less active than Belfast or Monaghan, etc., in the north. If he had said he was from the 1st Cork Brigade or something, it would have made more sense for the period.
It's still a great scene though. I wish Tom had more screen time. He's brilliant in a modern Irish gangster series called Love Hate.
The first couple seasons are stressful as sin lol
3:27 Tommy Flanagan facial scars real and the result of a knife attack outside a nightclub.
he was attacked by a gang, stabbed and slashed with a knife.
guys... pls hurry with next ep i cant wait for like 6 days, pls 😤😤😤
Gonna keep saying it. Keep DOING PEAKY BLINDER VIDS
"I could use two friends like you to watch movies with me. It would be so much fun
The show getting better the more you watch one of my favorite shows I’ve ever watched
Interesting fact, the actor who played the dad got his scar in a barfight where someone gave him the "Glasgow smile" an intentional disfigurement and the OG version of the "Joker" smile. He's the real deal.
That is a real scar actually. It's called the Glasgow smile.
No kidding, I thought it was called a Chelsea Grin. But being as he's Scottish that makes sense.
This is a true insight on the difference between the way men and women think. You two were so back and forth on the plot because you looked at everything from an emotional standpoint and missed a lot of the big picture bc of it
More!!!! Plz
hyped!!!!!
Tragic seeing your emotion run wild during the attempted suicide :(
Awesome reaction of my favorite episode of Peaky Blinders!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I rewatched it last week after their Ep 4. reaction. It's a really good episode, and so well shot. The cinematography is excellent at times.
Ah man, yall are gonna like the next episode
Never heard of him :^)
She can't be a snitch.
She's a cop from the beginning
She's a double agent rather than a cop! But I get you. She's actually working for the intelligence services undercover.
Maple Cutie Pie
Girl in the blue needs to calm down lol.
Am I trippin’ or was this one already posted once?
The actor playing the Shelby's absentee father (Tommy Flanagan) is a Scottish actor. Those scars on his face are real. I think he said that he got cut in a fight long ago, and those scars are permanent. He was in GLADIATOR (2000) with Russell Crowe.
And in Braveheart 1995
As I am a English man do u lot not know to shh by watching a video u don’t know the real peaky blinders story
19:35 perfect cringe moment, Campbell is out of his mind
Arthur Shelby Sr was “Chibs” in Sons of Anarchy. His scars are what is called a Smiley and was a very common injury in 1980’s and 1990’s Scotland.
That place was terrifyingly violent back then. Gangs and general anarchy was the norm and the ppl involved had no morals when it came to violence.
😢😢😢
Day 2 of asking to watch Dr.stone
We're not watching doctor stone
@@Diegesis 😂😂
Ok
So the Shelby brothers are all violent criminals who all do increasingly questionable things, including Tommy planning to pimp Grace out to a total creep without telling her of his plan in advance, and Grace works for the police following orders, and SHE’S the villain of the piece for informing on Freddie?
Cmon 😅 she had to do it 😅
Think it's safe to say that this series has reeled you in ladies! 😀
