Lyrics:
Darkness falls and she will take me by the hand
Take me to some twilight land
Where all but love is grey
Where I can't find my way
Without her as my guide
Night falls I'm cast beneath her spell
Daylight comes our heaven turns to hell
Am I left to burn and burn eternally
She's a mystery to me
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
In the night of love words tangled in her hair
Words soon to disappear
A love so sharp it cut
Like a switchblade to my heart
Words tearing me apart
She tears again my bleeding heart
I want to run she's pulling me apart
Fallen angel cries and I just melt away
She's a mystery to me
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
Haunted by her side is the darkness in her eyes
That so enslaves me
But if my love is blind
Then I don't want to see
She's a mystery to me
Night falls I'm cast beneath her spell
Daylight comes our heaven turns to hell
Am I left to burn and burn eternally
She's a mystery to me
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl

Even though his career was mostly before my time, I still realize that Orbison could sing a grocery list and bury all the present day singers

I always say that Roy's Orbison voice is a proof of God..
Elvis Presley said as much! Praise indeed. I love the sound of the Big O. Fair dues to Bono and The Edge for this beautiful song, sung beautifully by Roy.
@@67lionsoflisbon37 Yes! When Elvis was asked: "If you could have one wish, what would it be?" Without missing a beat The King replied: "To be able to sing like Roy."
Bono has flashes of genuis song writing. Roy's voice takes it to another level...like an otherworldly level. What a timeless gem.
Everything about Roy Orbison is just pure class, a voice like velvet. Never to see his style and class again.
He showed that you don't have to be scandalous or contraversal to be a star.
He's sing with his soul
Absolutely agree
AGREED.
you know that you've discovered a wonderful song when you keep playing it over and over and over
I listened to this the other day, which gave me a very persistent earworm. So here I go again.

So sorry to hear that. My Dad passed away in late July and it still doesn’t seem right. I was going through cabellas store where he loved to visit and I had to leave early was getting to me. He liked Roy Orbison as well

Fun fact: Bono and The Edge wrote the song for Roy Orbison. They were big fans of his and you can certainly hear elements of their style in the lyrics and the beautiful musical arrangement. I absolutely love the song.
They play this song in concert occasionally.
Bono wrote this song for roy after he went to a U2 concert with his wife!...Bono heard he was in the audience and invited roy and his wife backstage!...at this point Bono was toying with this song, but realised it didn't suit his own voice, so he took the opportunity to ask Roy to sing it, while he produced it! 👍
You hear that in the interview…. they were like blown away when he started singing…. Roy O was super natural. His voice transcends time and will live forever- kids born today will still love his voice in years to come.
Bono is playing guitar here as well!
Indeed, this is U2 with the greatest voice ever...
Even Elvis Presley once said Roy Orbison has the best voice.
Presley makes sense to me...🙂 she's a Mystery to me...she's a mystery girl...its in her eyes.
Roy Orbison could play this song at the end of a concert & the audience will call for an encore many times
Elvis was a Mississippi boy but not a fool. He knew his peers and recognized what they did well.
Elvis said God sang through Orbison's voice.
As did Springsteen.
thats probably one of the most beautiful songs for all time.
I'm a huge Big O fan. Quite possibly the best voice I've ever heard in any era of popular music. Very sadly missed, taken far too soon. Thanks for these magnificent songs Roy, may you rest in peace.
He had a really sad life too 😢❤

There are a great many people who, even today, love this music, minus thehate, racism, sex, drugs of today's ''music'' RIP.

@@antoniosalcedo2388 Um, sorta. Semi-unintentionally. It came to him in a dream after listening to the Blue Velvet soundtrack. Then when he was playing around with the song, Orbison himself showed up backstage at a gig, heard it and loved it. If I were Bono, I'd have been looking around for the cameras.

Buy all his recordings and store them away . Then they will be able to listen and enjoy real music in the future. Just enjoy Roy often.
Roy is one of the few who got better and better with time, like fine wine.
Couldn't agree more. Many don't like it when I say he was better than Elvis due to his vocal range.
@@zfleming44 much better than elvis fantastic voice memories of my dad and his tapes we used to listen to on journeys in his car love Roy every song a classic now gotta listen to some gene Pitney another great singer
Well you do know Elvis said the only one who was better than him was Roy! ☺️Look that shit up
This song is so beautifull.....
His range and strength got better with age! In the song Indian Summer he did with the Gatlin Brothers and Barry Gibb, Roy hit this one super note that makes me tear up when I hear it. He seriously could have been an opera singer!
The first time I heard Roy Orbison's voice was when he was in the Traveling Wilburies. When his part came on, I was like "Who Is That". In a group of Iconic Voices, his stood right along theirs. Simple, Pure, Accomplished, perfect story telling voice.
The music The Traveling Wilbury's could have made.
I had known of Roy Orbison from Pretty Woman, but it wasn't until hearing the Traveling Wilburys that I really appreciated his voice. As the lyrics switches from singer to singer, it really highlights how much better Orbison's voice was. Hearing Orbison alone (initially) is like watching Michael Phelps swim alone - you don't appreciate how fast he is. Putting Oribson next to Tom Petty and Bob Dylan is like putting Michael Phelps next to a varsity high school swimmer, and someone drowning.
Roy shows his respect for women in a lot of his songs, this is how he was raised and we all should follow his lead in life. Roy was a genius to the max, his voice is beyond words. Roy touched millions of people young. old and all in between . I leave you with this , there is a reason the Earth is called Mother Earth .
You are an anti male sexist. Women should show men respect as well
Thanks Bono for this beautiful song you wrote for the Legend to perform so beautiful. I miss Roy.
I am not depressed,i am not in love, i am not sad but Roy's Orbison voice makes me cry, what outstanding man.,descansa en paz maestraso.. Jamas nacera otro Roy Orbison..There will never be another Roy Orbison..

An interesting performer with much class and humility comes through his incredible legacy of work that he left for eternity to enjoy I was truly fortunately to meet and introduce him on stage in from memory it was 1970 the experience was second to none for me this song was truly speacial among his volume of work a truly humble. And nice man rip Roy
Their is telegraph road by dire straits or should I say M.K.!!
It is indeed.
Last night 01/12/19, I watched Aquaman w/my son. And the moment I heard that song, I whispered to my son, I'm 100% sure that singer is Roy Orbison. My son replied, "How do you know?" I said, no other singer have that kind of voice, it's only Roy Orbison.😍
ANYTHING Roy Sang, Was GOLD...
Simply sublime.... Roy's vocals are unmatchable. Such an incredible range, which clearly Bono considered when he wrote it, cause even in his falsetto he cant comfortably reach those notes, yet Roy does it efforlessly.
"A love so sharp it cut like a switchblade to my heart..."... Damn! Such lyrics!
I didn't like Bono, for his dubious political affiliations, but I was willing to forgive all of his mistakes for this one and only masterpiece.
I understand. I think in the end, the joy he has brought to the world through some of his music will outweigh his at times - overwrought politics.
I love Roy Orbison, and this song means a great deal to me, and the fact it was played in the movie Aquaman, my husband's favourite move in his last few weeks, he couldn't watch it enough, and was in tears when this beautiful song was played. Now I'm in tears just listening to this fabulous man, as my husband passed suddenly, 4th March 2020. Thank you UA-cam.
May his good soul rest in peace.
I'm back in time... I shared Roy Orbison with my Dad... Loved all his songs..... Just lost my Daddy to kidney failure.... playing all songs now... Night night my Daddy... we are together through our shared times together with the great Roy O..

Erik Ahl me too
I watched Aquaman and wanted to listen to the whole song.
Me too
Me three
Erik Ahl Bono wrote it
From Wikipedia - During a restless night of sleep in June 1987 in London during U2's Joshua Tree Tour, Bono slept with the soundtrack to the film Blue Velvet CD on repeat. The CD had been given to him by the Edge's wife. The soundtrack includes the song "In Dreams" by Orbison. When he woke the following morning, Bono had a tune in his head which he assumed was from the soundtrack. He soon realized it wasn't, so he wrote down the basic structure of the song.
Later that day he sang the unfinished song to the band at their pre-concert soundcheck at Wembley Arena. After the concert, Orbison paid the band an unannounced visit backstage, where a perplexed Bono played the song for him. Bono and Orbison worked again on the song in mid-November in Los Angeles.

I’m not sure I can think of a better example of when a song, singer, musicians and production all combine as well as this to create something this close to musical perfection. The song is as good as any Bono has written (and as good as any Roy sang), it’s utterly _perfect_ for Roy’s voice, and the musicians (you’ve got Benmont Tench and Jim Keltner, for crying out loud!) play _exactly_ what’s right for the song - no more, no less. I first heard this as a kid, it blew me away then and it blows me away now.
All song sung by Orbison is good. I cannot say the same thing by Bono.

The "inimitable" Roy Orbison! Proof of the former and better times. We cannot even begin to describe the immense and pleasurable effects that this rendition has upon us now from those former times. A truly captivating haunting soulful voice that communicates vastly more than just one song. A measureless and a meaningful enjoyment. And not just another song to make some money. Thank God for true artists that love their audiences! 👏😄

And yet, the elites have still thrived, led everyone astray, and maintained the unequal status quo. Most people still feel they are slaves. And profits, housing, nice cars, doing well mean so much more to most than helping our fellow men. But then with our failed culture, what could we teach them?? Our non culture, or the culture of sell out for money, is an anti culture stance. It does not value relationships, friends, the everyday society, like it once did. It just uses and abuses them. We are a fallen Rome.
