Lyrics:
A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
"Go to sleep. Everything is all right."
I close my eyes, then I drift away
Into the magic night, I softly say
A silent prayer like dreamers do
Then I fall asleep to dreams, my dreams of you
In dreams I walk with you, in dreams I talk to you
In dreams you're mine, all of the time
We're together in dreams, in dreams
But just before the dawn, I awake and find you gone
I can't help it, I can't help it, if I cry
I remember that you said goodbye
It's too bad that all these things
Can only happen in my dreams
Only in dreams, in beautiful dreams

I’m 22 and Roy is my favorite singer of all time. Just know that music of this era is still appreciated by young people and will always live on 💕
I'm 83 and I've heard them all. Roy stands alone in his ability to reach those deep emotions we didn't know we had with his multi-octave voice.
He is only singing from the heart. He had a tough life ....
76 Here..
Yes but this is about Neil Diamond NOT Roy Orbison,
You have the wrong thread here.
Charlie true he could reach every level and give the emotion and make you see what he was singing and he was the only one Elvis Presley really considered to be his competition

The love of my life died in 1974 at the age of 23 from cancer. She was more mature, she knew what she wanted in life. I didn't know. I was young and stupid. We would listen to Roy on 8 track tapes in my 56 Ford Vicky in the late 60's. It was the best of times. I still think about her today. Our favorite song by Roy was Blue Angle. GOD how I miss those days and would go back if possible. RIP DAR...To this day I still have dreams of her. Hope we see each other again sometime soon.
Wow god bless you both
Wow!
You will.

It took David Lynch's hypnotic Blue Velvet to turn me on to the greatness that is Roy Orbison.
Thanks to both.
One of the best songs ever. Roy’s voice is perfect.
All Punx know Roy is GOATed.
People will underrate the sincerity of this comment.
All I gotta say is.....
See you in the streets
See you,

I suppose there are people who are unable to recognize sincerity and beauty. Perhaps Roy Orbison can open their eyes.
No one is going to make me believe that Roy Orbison it's not the greatest singer of all time, what a legend..
I'm with you on that 🎶🎙🎵🎼🎤🥁🎸
I was lucky enough to go to 2 of his concerts at Melbourne's festival hall both nights in same tour.
Elvis called him the best singer!
@@marianfrances3057 : You were very lucky indeed. Sadly, the great Roy Orbison died in December 1988, at the height of his resurgence (he was only 52!), and before I ever got a chance to see him in concert. :-(

Today is a very sad day for me. I'm so low my belly is dragging on the floor. My poor dad who I love dearly passed away due to covid. I myself have the virus because he needed help. My mum called me 2 days ago because my dad had fell and she could not get him up. I knew they was both ill but I had to help and I guessed I would get the virus. Once my dad was up I spent an hour with him and I'm so glad as it would be the last time I would see, touch and speak with him. I come to this video because this is the song I will play at his funeral. He was a big fan of Roy and this song speaks to me in ways that mean so much. Im not a religious person but I'm not against it as everyone has there own ways to deal with what life throws at you. I believe when you sleep you are just practicing for your final deep sleep. I love you Dad and one day we shall meet again xxx

I feel for you, Alison. We don't realize how much we take our parents for granted when we're young. We think they'll be here forever... but of course as we grow older ourselves we realize we're only here for a very, very short period of time. Roy Orbison probably didn't realize that his work affected millions of people that were fortunate enough to have heard him while he was alive.. RIP to him and your Dad...

That anguished howl has haunted me in dreams since I heard Roy sing it on Chicago's WLS radio station in the early '60's. And will to the day I die. Immortal.
He was a magical performer!! Voice like honey with such emotion 😊
We use to listen to that station in the middle of the night driving across Wyoming.
Just pure perfection - the song, the voice and the production.
In the words of Elvis Presley.Ain’t nobody sing like Roy Orbison.
I think this version is better.
+87mreynolds Elvis never said that, he said that Roy Orbison is the best male singer but that's because Elvis was very humble, he said of several singers they are the best; like also of Pat Boone and one time he said that Fats Domino is the king of rock 'n roll; Elvis Presley is the most versatile singer ever= rock, ballads, country, blues, soul, gospel... which can not be said of Roy Orbison. Elvis is also the only singer taken up in all the halls of fame and in every music style he had his hits also something what can not be said of Roy Orbison. Btw Elvis could sing like Roy, for ex with It's now or never, Surrender; and at the endi of his life Elvis sang even like an opera singer with for ex Hurt and Unchained melody and this at June 26 1977 .
@@patrickdevries6267 I believe what elvis said was when asked by a reporter about having the best voice. He said “I don’t know about that you have to speak to Roy “. Roy was beyond him. Contrasting styles. Elvis was a entertainer and Roy was a singer
@@patrickdevries6267 Love Orbison but Elvis was named the KING for a reason, knuff said.
Ain't that the truth, Amen!
Roy didn't die, he just jumped into the next level.
