      I feel the same, when was that call made? Because I read something similar happened with Hannah escaping in 2017.

    • @FirstNameLastName-wt5to
      @FirstNameLastName-wt5to 5 років тому +21

      Well they did call at some point and were told the incident with Hannah only happened once and children being kept inside all day wasn’t a crime so they refused to go out and check on them. This family had moved all over the US running from CPS in various states. Because CPS doesn’t talk to other states this is very common. They had a very long history of reports of abuse and knew how to handle CPS. They had even had a positive finding in another state for punching one of the children. And yet no state agency bothered to check on these kids. The neighbors began to watch the family after their initial call to collect evidence sufficient enough for CPS to get involved. The wife admits to becoming a little obsessed. She goes into great detail in the Podcast about this incident. When Devonte began visiting and asking for food they started asking him questions to get him to talk. Slowly Devonte began to reveal what was going on. At that point the neighbors had a real complaint and they called CPS. CPS came out but no one answered the door. That night the family took off and a few days later they were all dead.

      There’s no way the 911 operator could have known if the caller “had experience” or not, and neither do any of us. All he had to go on was the kid coming over in the middle of the night anyway, he wasn’t an oracle.
      Nevertheless the operator reported it to child protective services as she’s supposed to. What else did you expect her to do? She couldn’t possibly have known what was actually going on, nobody could have known that.

      Minnesota failed, Texas failed, Oregon failed and finally Washington failed. Just the fact that Jennifer would not speak to her foster child in Minnesota for weeks after a Green Bay Packer signed the foster child's football and not Jennifer's football. Total anti social behavior. Wouldn't every parent be thrilled if a professional athlete did this for your child? This was before any of the adoptions from Texas. Then once the first Texas adoption was approved, thanks to the positive report Minnesota provided to authorities in Texas. Then the foster child's living arrangement was abruptly terminated with the Hart's and neither Jennifer or Sarah spoke to the teenager again. Really Minnesota? Positive report Minnesota? Outrageous!!

I know what that feels like and it's very hard on a teenager. I cannot believe she didn't want that fixed. They told the neighbors she lost the teeth in a fall (down the stairs I think) and didn't want them replaced. Didn't they go to doctors/dentists?? So sad.

    Also, i grew up in a abusive household. It was mostly emotional. It was miserable at home but I always thought it was my fault until teen years. The main point i want to make is i so relate to the happy faces. When my family went on a vacation and take pictures they would be so happy and treat me and my siblings well. I remember thinking "everything is changing. Everything will be happy now.. They truly love us" As soon as we got home, it went right back to the abuse. I remember crystal clear the very moment i realized this was very wrong how they treat us. From then on i became a runaway and eventually my parents lost custody. I was lucky. It breaks my heart these kids were robbed of the chance to have a good life and will never smile for real in public and at home. God bless their souls forever.

      If it's not too personal, can you describe the emotional abuse? I am strict with my 7 year old daughter so she loves being out and about and hates it when she has to come home. I am concerned that I could be overlooking something wrong with the way I parent. or other family members in the home. I would be absolutely crushed if she grows up to feel the way that you describe it..

    • @pinkpearl1967
      @pinkpearl1967 5 років тому +15

      @@toanotherplace The fact that you are thinking about this means you are on the right track. There are some great parenting books out there and many communities have programs to help parents with stuff like this. You can ask your family doctor to point you in the right direction. A major thing I learned from a Penelope Leach book was that parents must keep their expectations in line with the child's stage of development. Many parents rush this, and expect things of 5-year-old that won't really be possible until like 8 or 9, for example.

    SUCH BEAutiful babies- all of them. They had a nice home, beautiful children, friends, plenty of money for food and clothing and trips- obviously had the capacity to be kind sometimes as the kids were sometimes happy. That makes it all the worse- it was a game to them. Those poor kids probably felt”” well maybe this is the time the happiness will last””- boom- nope, the rug gets yanked out from under them again. Just tears up my heart. I’ve fostered kids who’ve lived like this and it’s heartwrenching. They know that parents have the capacity to be good but are choosing to pick on them and manipulate and abuse them.💔God Bless the DeKalbs and Mrs. DeKalb’s Dad. I consider them heroes.

    This is a tragic story that many want to see swept under the rug. Poor Devonte. So much pain in that child's eyes. These children were objects to these women. Lifestyle accessories. They were completely denied the ability to have their own identities and emotions. I imagine as the kids grew into their teenage years and young adulthood, they became increasingly difficult to control, making management of this couple's charade impossible. Their facade began to crumble. Kids were jumping out of second story windows and running to neighbors for help, for God's sake. Sneaking over in the middle of the night and begging for food. Not good, and not a good look. These women knew people in their community were talking. The abuse was going to be exposed. They felt the hammer coming down. So, instead of just taking their own wretched lives, they took all six children with them. That's a level of wickedness and selfishness I cannot comprehend. They wanted to prevent their foster children from exposing their lies and abuse and tarnishing their image, EVEN AFTER THEY WERE DEAD. It proves that the children were nothing but objects to them. Possessions and not human beings. That's a form of slavery. I can't help but speculate on their move from the progressive Mecca of Oregon to Washington. WA is a beautiful state, but it's no Oregon. Seattle is no Portland. I wonder if they were running from a situation that had fallen apart so badly that they needed to completely uproot themselves and leave their precious nu-hippy scene behind forever. Were they discovered to be abusing the children by their neighbors and acquaintances in Oregon? If so, why did no one act on behalf of the children? Did no one want to "get involved" in Oregon as well? Who from that scene would have the nerve to go up against an iconic progressive multicultural family? A lesbian couple with six black children? That's the image of the progressive dream right there. The couple evidently told their new neighbors in Washington that they had come from Texas, not Oregon. Very strange. These women would want to wear their time residing in Oregon on their sleeves. Did they not want neighbors looking into their past in Oregon and potentially contacting authorities or CPS there? CPS in Texas had showered them with praise. I wonder if authorities in Oregon had a different story to tell?? So many questions. I just can't imagine the children's terrifying final moments and the days leading up to their murders. What a nightmare.

    CPS take kids away from their parents for far less than all the evidence screaming cps in the face from these kids neighbours and a domestic abuse charge.
    Why the hell is that? Why does it happen that way, I can only assume some hidden agenda within CPS but I'm not sure what that would be. Any ideas guys???

    • @roo1994
      @roo1994 6 років тому +4

      From someone who has worked in the Canadian protection system (and has gotten out), all orders of removal are done by the court. The cps workers write a case. They have to investigate every tip that comes in. In those tips, a large majority are false accusations. Cps does not go into a home and decide the children need to be taken away. It takes case notes and evidence. Those are presented to the court, and the court hands down the order. Many workers get just as pissed about the results as others who think it’s unjust at times. Anger is often thrown at the workers, and they do drop the ball some times. No decision is solely based upon what one case worker thinks or wants. There is a multitude of individuals involved in the process.

    I read in NY State foster/adoptive parents are not allowed to put children in homeschooling. The state wants other eyes on the kids: teachers, etc. In some videos the kids look happy. What a shame that Jennifer and/or Sarah weren't more self-aware, to seek help for themselves so they could parent these sweet children. Incredibly sad.

    Devonte was such a beautiful young man. These beautiful children deserved so much more. There's a special place in hell for Jen especially, and for Sarah for not having the courage to stand up to her and take up for those sweet angels. I'm just as angry at Jennifer/Sarah Hart as I am the Turpins. I'm also angry at the angencies that allowed that many children to be placed with one incompetent couple. There should be a limit of ONE child adopted per family until they can provide proof that they are capable and caring enough to adopt two. TWO CHILDREN should be the limit. NO COMPENSATION for adoption. Period!!
