I’m sad that the old conservatory is gone. Your tours over the years have been some of my favorite. The new conservatory looks great but I just loved the different rooms of the old.
You read my mind. I and Jason both really prefer the traditional look. We got a little upset that part of the original conservatory was taken away. 😭 I wish the new one was built the other side of the property and keep the original look.
Wow Danielle you’re so lucky to have that so close to you. I think I really liked the older one better. I’m also with you about wanting flowers. The Mediterranean garden is neat, but not my preference. Thanks for the tour❤Deanna
Gosh, the new conservatory plantings are so much like our native landscapes here in hot, sunny, California in zone 9-10!! Artemisia, euphorbia, salvia, kumquat, helichrysum, dusty miller, agave, abound. I love the exterior look of the metallic structure "floating on water". Thanks so much for sharing this space with those of us on the other side of the country. 😍💟🌴🪴🌄
The new one, solely based on your video, looks clean and fresh; however, I loved the look and character of the old one. The frames, glass- reminded me of the gilded age. Glad I was able to see and appreciate that. Thank you for the videos- looking forward to seeing how your pressed flowers turn out!
Thank you for the sneak peak of the new conservatory. While the new modern design is interesting, I do prefer the design of the older conservatory. I will have to plan a visit soon to see it all in person.
Danielle, no matter what the style of a conservatory I appreciate them all! Each conservatory has its own story to tell! Thank you for the lovely tour, especially at this time of year as in the colder zones, we have to wait months until we are able to dig in the garden again! By the way, not gardening related,- your hair looks really nice! 🥰🌸🇨🇦
These conservatory/garden tours are even more special for us living abroad the US. Thank you! Please, show us some more of these new conservatories when you go back there.
Hi Danielle thanks for the tour. 😊 The way the conservatory looks like it's floating on water is pretty, but, I prefer the old conservatory..loved the beautiful pink amaryllis with the white allysum from your previous tour you showed here. Good luck with the flowers you are pressing. Lol Grace knows what amaryllis you want 😮😅. 😍
thank you Danielle❤ I love seeing Longwood and I always love seeing what you are up to. 😊I have a microwave flower press. But I have to be very careful not to over do. I pressed some of my pansy’s. I loved it 😍
I am from Southern California ad these look like my area. I have a sister in the Philly area and will certainly visit this new installation when I visit her. I hope they don’t ever tear down the original conservatory !
Thanks so much! I am so interesting in trying pressed flowers....so grateful you showed it is something i could handle ❤🎉! You looked so glam headed to the conservatory!!!
OH, the Amaryllis in your footage was beautiful. Replanted four of my bulbs this past week and purchased a double flower bulb which will be new for me. Going to plant my other bulbs in two week intervals this year to enjoy the flowers for a longer period of time. Have a great weekend!!
I Love pressing and have been for some time I use them in so many applications, also I had learned that you can press and dry flowers using the microwave and a terracotta press , I’ve used it and it works so good😮 I become a hoarder of all this pressed , I can now been seen scavenging for leaves and flowers like a mad squirrel to bring home! The best are Magnolia leaves they press so beautifully and they last a long time , I used them on my wreath, in my thanksgiving table decor and my Christmas arrangements… happy pressing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautifful tour. Thank you so much. 💚 I grow Clivia indoors in the darker corners of my living room. They like it better there than in the lighter areas it seems.
The main conservatory is so beautiful almost takes your breath away when you enter it ❤❤❤❤ can’t wait to see the new addition thanks for taking us along for the sneak peek ❤
We went to Longwood last Sunday, it may have been the first day it opened. Such a beautiful day, as you know how unusually warm it’s been. I was impressed with the new conservatory and really struck by the extensive amount of waterways….which were a very calming “foundation”. Like you, my absolute favorite were the kumquat espaliers. Gorgeous!! Hard to compare the two conservatories because they are so different, but I absolutely love the original….it is always stunning!
I stay in South Africa, where clivias is an ingenious plant. We have the beautiful foliage all year, with the orange flowers in the middle of winter. It is ons of the few plants that do well in dry shade. I have quite a bit in my garden.
Thanks for sharing this preview! I love visiting Longwood and I'm hoping to get there this year for Christmas. I loved the old buildings and the way it felt a bit like a maze you were exploring, but I'm excited to see the new!
Thank you for taking us on a beautiful tour! I really want to come check that out in person! But also, you are teasing us with mentioning that you want a new amaryllis and then not telling us which one! 😜
Sorry I had to make another comment so interested in seeing the finished work of that press I am very interested in that press that is something I would really like to get into pressing flowers thank you your show is always so interesting and up-to-date I love that!!!
Lovely sneak peek of the new conservatory! I am excited to see it at Christmas. My sister and I have taken our grandmother every year to see the Christmas decorations and we went with my mom on my birthday in June this year. I've performed many times on the garden stage with the theater company it was originally built for (Savoy) and love walking around during breaks from rehearsals and shows. It's just occurring to me...why on earth am I not a member?? Such an amazing place to get out of our own gardens and get inspiration. Thanks for taking us along with you!
Your garden is breathtaking no matter what season it is. Such a beautiful sunny day. You have been blessed with. Thank you for another beautiful video. I got to enjoy with my morning cup of tea. 💙💚💛🧡❤️ Liz
I actually got there yesterday, the line wasn't to bad for the cascade garden and moved quickly. It was like a mini rainforest 🤩 The selection of bonsai was amazing🤩 Thanks for sharing your old footage,so cool😜 I think I'll go press some flowers 😉
Have to admit--the glimpses of the traditional conservative definitely would be my favorite! The new one is beautiful but I am so much more inspired when there are flowers! Beautiful to see it all though!
Thank you Danielle! I have to agree with you and like the old conservatory more than the new but certainly appreciate all of the work that went into it. I do love the blue plants and water features. Longwood is just spectacular. Can't wait to see how the dried flowers turn out. Do you think snapdragons would press well? Hugs to Gracie and the kitties!
Thank you Danielle so much! I loved the old conservatory! Spoke to my heart in a beautiful way. But I will look for all the joys in the new (and we will always find them). I love the Yellow Sage!!! Do you think that the new conservatory will grow up and look lush like the old one?
I'm not from Pennsylvania, so I can't compare the old and the new conservatory. But the new one makes me wish I could visit there right now!! I love how they included water in their design. That is so unique!!
It looks great but also you can tell it is newer. There are lots of plants that will grow in and fill a lot more space as time goes on. Perfect reason to keep going back!
Love the ease of the readymade seed packets. Thanks for the tour of the new conservatory. It was beautiful though I too missed the flowers. My favourite was the bonsai display.
I was there the same day that you were there! I miss the room with the roses and hibiscus plants because I'm crazy over roses. I know they will do more with the new west conservatory but I like the old style better. I've gone to Longwood all of my life and my husband grew up in Kennett Square. His grandmother was president of the Women's Auxiliary of the American legion in Kennett and they would put on shows where the fountains are. There used to be a stage called the Longwood Open Air Theater there. My father in law started being in the shows with his brother at the age of nine and did it until they went into WWII.
I absolutely love the new conservatory, particularly the use of water features contrasted against plants that require little water. So beautiful! My husband and I used to love visiting Longwood when we lived in PA. It’s one of the things we miss the most. Thanks for sharing this lovely tour of what’s new there!
I can't wait to visit. I saw Longwood about 4 years ago. It's a trek from where I live in NY state. Your videos on the renovation will get me motivated to plan a weekend there.
Thank you for this sneak peek, Danielle! I LOVE conservatories, especially in inclement weather! My only complaint is they're usually filled with what I cannot grow without my own glass house! I think Longwood's new conservatory is beautiful. It will take a few years to evolve & eventually house some of the same plants as your sentimental favorites. Love the espaliered kumquats & bonsai court! The dark walls behind the bonsai really make them stand out in the way your newly painted garage allows your garden to shine! Fun visit! Thank you for taking us along!
Thank you for the lovely tour of Longwood! It is impressive, even though I do tend to like older rather than modern designs. Just to stroll through the massive plantings would be thrilling and I'd love to visit this stunning garden one day.
I have a clivia potted! Im in zone 7. It loves to go outside in the summer and then i overwinter it in my cool garage. In early spring i start watering then pull it out and put it on my front porch (sometimes i have to pull it back in the garage if the night is going to be too cold). It throws up AMAZING long lasting spring blooms. It loves to be crowded in the pot by the way. Perfect by my front door.
Hi Danielle! I know you are in the midst of video planning toward the holiday season, but I was wondering if you would consider making a video in the coming months on planning out color schemes for gardens? I have a balcony garden that I switch out each year - I always save seeds, but I do have a new chance at creating a new mood and palette. You have such an eye for color palettes/tone/feel in the garden and I wondered if you had any tips for planning in the off season, as we all think toward spring! Thanks again, as always, for your invaluable videos!
I enjoyed the Orangery for sure - beautiful! I'd love to know how they will keep those waterways clear as the years go on. Do they have some kind of water filtration device to keep the water clean?
I really appreciate your periodic tours of both Longwood Gardens and Chanticleer Garden. They’re both so fabulous! Do you know if there’s a plant list available of the plantings in this new Longwood conservatory?
I like the new conservatory but prefer the design of the old one. I live in Illinois and live about an hour and a half from the St Louis Botanical garden. They also have both modern and old conservatories. I still prefer the old ones. I tried to grow Clovis once but could not get it to bloom….so after several years I gave up and got rid of the bulb. Amaryllis are much more satisfying 😀😁
It's absolutely beautiful but honestly I prefer the first one that you showed because of the color and the smell I'm sure was lacking in the second one forgive me I can't remember the name of the place but I'm going to wash this again because I'm very interested in everything you have to say and point out and I do want to get that Mexican plant in my garden!!!!!
Hi there, i just watched your video about amaryllis for the first time love it! My question is what do you do with the ones in water after they finish flowering?
Hi Danielle, Could you please give info on visiting Longwood Gardens for those of us who live in the northeast? What town is it near any other helpful information about visiting. Thank you. Gail :)
Does your Dad watch Nigel Saunders UA-cam channel The Bonsai Zone? I really enjoy his channel and I don’t do bonsai but he’s taught me a lot about pruning and plants.
I'm surprised how how much I don't like the new conservatory! I haven't yet seen it in person but from the pictures I've seen, both yours and others, I find it uninspiring. I live about 50 minutes from there and know Longwood pretty well. I was there a few weeks ago, before the new space was open. I was excited that they were finally doing some major changes. I do like the changes they made to the idea garden and perennial garden areas. But in my opinion, this conservatory is not an improvement on what it replaced.
The new conservatory is beautiful, but there is no replacing the old one. It's too bad they didn't have the vision to somehow combine the old and the new as a way to juxtapose changes in gardening over the years.
I prefer the traditional garden with tropical plants and lots of flowers. I think the desert plants with lots of water looked like an unnatural contrast
I’m sad that the old conservatory is gone. Your tours over the years have been some of my favorite. The new conservatory looks great but I just loved the different rooms of the old.
The old conservatory is still there. They built a second one.
The old conservatory is still there along with the Orange ryobi.
The new West Conservatory is an addition to the Gardens.
I do love the new conservatory but I think I’m more nostalgic like you and would rather have the old. Loved the tour. Thanks for taking us along.
You read my mind. I and Jason both really prefer the traditional look. We got a little upset that part of the original conservatory was taken away. 😭 I wish the new one was built the other side of the property and keep the original look.
I loved seeing your old footage with Amaryllis’s in those garden rooms. That was magical
Love the old conservatory much better.
I do love the old conservatories....
I liked the conservatory the way it looked before! Good luck with the pressed flowers.
I just love water so much and how they designed all of the water with the dry plants. I really loved it so much.
Wow Danielle you’re so lucky to have that so close to you. I think I really liked the older one better. I’m also with you about wanting flowers. The Mediterranean garden is neat, but not my preference. Thanks for the tour❤Deanna

Thank you for a wonderful look at your day! I look forward to every one of your videos❤

Flower press is in my amazon cart!
Thank you for the field trip to the conservatory and intro to the flower press.
Grace has such a fantastic personality! What a sweet girl you have!

Great mix of gardening elements in this video. Loved seeing the conservatory.
I think it is magnificent! How you not appreciate what they have done .
Thank you for taking us along!
Thank you for the footage of what was there. So nice to be reminded of what was there.
Longwood is amazing !!!
Thanks for sharing.
❤️the chanel
I like the old ones personally :)
Stunning conservatory. I love the use of water features and arches. The different rooms of the old conservatory will be missed.

The tall cypresses are italian cypresses - we have a lot of those in Cal.
It is amazing!
Amazing! Thank you for taking us along, Danielle.🤗

Thank you for sharing the conservatories 😊 Always hard to make way for the new😊 Did you knit your beautiful sweater??
I really appreciate your periodic tours of both Longwood Gardens and Chanticleer Garden. They’re both so fabulous! Do you know if there’s a plant list available of the plantings in this new Longwood conservatory?

Hi there, i just watched your video about amaryllis for the first time love it! My question is what do you do with the ones in water after they finish flowering?
Hi friend! You can plant the bulbs into soil after you’re done enjoying them growing over water.
❤ while beautiful the new conservatory doesn’t have the charm of the old.
We were hoping to visit next year for our anniversary. Is there any time of year that you’d recommend?
I love when the tulips are in full bloom! Christmas is also amazing!
Hi Danielle, Could you please give info on visiting Longwood Gardens for those of us who live in the northeast? What town is it near any other helpful information about visiting. Thank you. Gail :)
Hi Gail! Longwood is in Kennett Square near the PA/DE border. Here is the website - longwoodgardens.org
Does your Dad watch Nigel Saunders UA-cam channel The Bonsai Zone? I really enjoy his channel and I don’t do bonsai but he’s taught me a lot about pruning and plants.
Nvm i watched another video that explains it all 😊 so amaryllis only flowers once a year?
I'm surprised how how much I don't like the new conservatory! I haven't yet seen it in person but from the pictures I've seen, both yours and others, I find it uninspiring. Prefer the historical conservatory. We have many modern structures. They could have restored what was there or replicate it.
Thanks for the tour.
The seeds look like whoppie pies
I’m not sure what the purpose of so much water in a greenhouse is for.
