I suffer from several chronic diseases and have a lot of pain with them and when I get my period (which is actually right now) the pain gets hitched right up to "I need ALL the pain relievers RIGHT NOW!" and I'm cruising YT trying to get through it.
But seriously, every man, especially physicians should have to go through this. Especially when they have patients with co-morbid conditions that include pain issues.

I had adenomyosis. Just before my hysterectomy I couldn’t stand up straight.
@@lorpsandorps3729 Me too! Plus I also had Endometriosis on top of it. I felt so free after my Hysterectomy at 34. 💜 Scary at that age but free! 😆 ✌
@@lorpsandorps3729 so did I! And endometriosis and fibroids. And I asked for a hysterectomy at 24 & it was denied because "I might decide to have kids". Had to wait til I was 48. And no, I never decided to have kids. 🙄

The thing about having cramps is you have to suffer in silence because if you say anything about it some people are like "Gross. I don't want to know about your periods"

As a past Paramedic, I've seen women in so much pain due to everything from severe PMD to endometriosis, being in labor to being in the process of having a late-stage miscarriage. What women go through is not for the faint of heart. Even with my long history of numerous kidney stones, I cannot fathom what they go through.
as someone who is only 5'3" and had 3 babies that were close to 10lbs naturally, had 2 miscarriages, and have passed 3 kidney stones. i can guarantee you that the pain i had from my kidney stones i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. i would rather give birth a 100 times over again than have to pass yet another kidney stone. with my last one i thought i was going to die. and when they put the stent in after they blew it up, my body had a bad reaction to it, and that pain was even worse than the kidney stone itself. i have lost count of the bones i've broken and surgeries i've had, and for all of them i've never had to take any pain killers. but man those kidney stones broke me. But from what i understand that endometriosis is even worse, i know my sister in law had that when she was younger.
@@marytramp5678 I've had 5. The first was the worst. It was 8mm lodged in ureter. After they busted it they sent me home with Internal bleeding, back to the hospital for 2.5 days. I think it was stent damage which was worse than any of my stones. 5 weeks of bloody urine and back cramps - felt like a million dollars after the Stent was out. I felt so much better that i realized i had forgotten what feeling good was like. Last one was 5 months ago and took 3 weeks to pass. 1 week of discomfort, 1week of extreme pain where i would have gone to the ER if the advil didn't kick in. The last week it must have been in the bladder until it was lined up to pass.
I've had numerous kidney stones but not passed any as they block my tubes and had four surgeries but can I raise the stakes and add a ruptured appendix
@@cls9876 I stopped counting at 12. Had to have three surgeries for my first kidney alone. And what I've been told they all hurt the same.
I have given birth to 6 kids and had a few kidney stones. I far prefer childbirth to kidney stones.
I describe it like a psychotic partner who begs for a kid every month- builds a nursery, and buys all the furnishings. Then when you don't make one, gets super mad and turns the nursery into a rage room. Then for the next 7ish days, goes in there at varying levels of upset to scream, shred the drywall, take a sledge to the crib, rip up the carpet, etcetera- while sneaking laxatives in your food just to be petty. Then, after they're done, begs for a baby and starts building the nursery again for the next 28 or so days.

I love how in both of these videos there are men describing the pain as ‘kneading’. I have told my boyfriend that so many times and it’s crazy to hear it come from multiple men who had not experienced that kind of pain before.

I have PCOS. It started when I was 11. I’m at the stage in my life where it’s all stopped. I’m soooo grateful! Hot sweats, cold chills, massive pain that leaves you doubled over, periods lasting a month or full blast like a faucet turned on and I couldn’t even have children. I’m so glad it’s all done! Thank you for sharing this. At least you understand the pain at lvl 20! Being a woman is NOT for the faint of heart!
I'd pass "pieces of liver" (massive blood clots) during my period and can not unremember the disgusting feeling of it, (for thr first three days of seven) every 28 days for all those years. Not to mention the general pain and discomfort, the change of mood and behavior. Menopause has been marvelous.
Me too, getting up in the morning and whoosh...pinching legs together and running to the loo.
I don't miss periods at all, I also went through Menopause a couple of years ago.

I was so happy when I started menopause, no more cramps , no more clots, and no more getting up and gush of blood and hoping I didn't soak threw my underwear. No more migraines!!

Usually I'm crying with laughter, but today you got me teary-eyed with appreciation. One in 10 women has endometriosis, and it often takes at least 7 years to finally get diagnosed after they start reporting symptoms. Thank you sooooo much!!!

Yeah that happens. Sometimes you'll be sitting on the toilet holding the garbage can. Nausea, period poops, and passing clots the size of ping pong balls coming together for that perfect nightmare
You can really see the guy's moods change. Even at levels where they're "dealing" with it, they don't really want to engage in conversation or question. All the focus is on the discomfort and pain.
They all got a little irritable lol.
The biggest change I noticed was when their eyes started tearing up.
I get a sick kind of joy watching guys do these period simulators. It will never be close to the pain I've had with endometriosis but at least it gives them an idea and appreciation.

I suffered endometriosis, ovarian cysts and period pain . So level 20 most of my life had to work , raise my children , take care of house , lawns etc as a single mum .

Menorrhagia for 2-3 weeks, big clots, ovarian cysts, adenomyosis, nausea and anemia I sympathize. I think I would get 1 week of normal a month if I was lucky. I totally sympathize.

As someone who experiences periods and who just finished one, I love these videos. It's really important to me that periods and symptoms are not a mystery. I'm 41 and have been having periods for 30 years, and in the past 2 years, I've had a new symptom I didn't know was a symptom. Premenstrual flu, all the symptoms of the flu without the contagion.
That sounds dreadful! Thankfully, I never experienced that symptom, sorry you have to go through that. I was so grateful to survive menopause, it is great on the other side!
I had vile nausea all the time. I don't know how I got anything done.

I commend these men for doing this and trying to understand our pain better. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis at 19 and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome soon after. I had to have a complete hysterectomy at 30. I can’t begin to tell you the back pain I endured with the front pain you guys experienced. My hats off to you. BTW my TENS unit maxes out at 60. Any takers??

I am proud of George and Darren for not tapping out early, esp because the last video they ALL went to 20, iirc, I don't blame the girls cause they already experience periods. Def want more period pain simulator vids if there are tryers left lol. But also, what about childbirth simulator? We do seem to like to watch them suffer for education and empathy lol

IT IS Not a Contest, No one should force themselfs to more then they can handle!!! Also, the women should all get ASK which one their Periode pain Level correlates too!
Like If 20 IS way more then the womans pain IS, then why would He have to experience 20 to get a picture of what she has to live with?! Also If He Had to, cause He does Not experience ity she should too, since she apparently also does Not experience IT and the Most dismissiv people of Periode pain are women WHO have easy periods and Think everyone Else IS Just making a Fuss about nothing.
Pain Levels are very individuell between women too . . . .
I would BE interested in knowing what the average Level IS . . .the simulator I tried did Not come anywhere Close my Bad days. Like the highest setting was about a 4 to me
@@SingingSealRiana so you both want the women to experience worse pain than they do on their own periods AND you want them to stop at their own pain level? If they stopped, neither the men or women would learn what it's sort of like to have pcos or endometriosis etc. No matter what these simulators are only so accurate.
I think as a PCOS and Endo woman I love these videos! Not to poke fun at the guys but I think it helps the man truly know what it is like and maybe they will understand their partners whenever they tell them they’re in immense pain. ❤
Mine would be 7 to 10 days. It felt like my ovaries were being twisted off.

I have enjoyed this series, originally as a sadistic woman who said "hell yeah, let them learn" but...by the end of the first video, the absolute gentleman and the respect they had and increased was awseome!! And yes everyone is different in tolerance of pain I love how it is shown and discussed with y'all
I want this as a series! Love it! It feels so validating, freeing, and relieving that these non-menstruating individuals are acknowledging the pain of those of us who do…including other menstruators who have lower levels of pain and tolerance to their period. I almost want to cry. My mom has already invalidated me in my experience and behaved that it should be as easy for me as it was for her. I do not have pleasant periods. I have had to leave high school and, after high school, work more than once because it was so bad. I would rock sometimes while crying because staying still was worse than the pain I got when I would rock back and forth with my legs folded into me. Sometimes I will lay in the bath tub and just turn the shower on to it’s hottest setting and aim it at my lower abdomen because the pain of the searing hot water would numb my period pain. I often go to bed with an ice pack on my lower back and my lower abdomen and I wear diapers because pads are too messy. It’s severely unpleasant.
I did the same thing. I also started having periods at the age of 9. They were horrendous, and the pain was so bad I would literally throw up because of it. Everyone would discount it and I was often accused of faking it. A couple of years ago, I was in the hospital for something unrelated, but after an MRI, they sent someone from Gyno to come talk to me. After decades of no one understanding- including other doctors, this one said, "I bet you have extremely heavy painful periods." It turns out I had a condition called endometrial hyperplasia. A normal endometrium is about 3 to 5 mm thick. Mine was 27mm. After I got out of the hospital, they scheduled a D&C, and within to months it was just as thick again. By this time I was menopausal, but my endometrium was still staying thick. I had to have another D&C, and they gave me a Mirena IUD, because progesterone helps keep it under control. Next time you're at the doctor's, ask them to check your endometrial stripe. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you have this or something very similar. But it CAN be treated.
Non=menstruating individuals and menstruators? Is it not simpler and more apt to simply say men and women or males and females? We shouldn't have to jump through linguistic hoops to have conversations.

@@trakll In this case, your "inclusive language" is making a lie of the truth. One has to have xx chromosomes to menstruate, therefore one has to be a woman to menstruate.
@@georgehutto having xx chromosomes does not necessarily mean you menstruate tho. but as I see it, for you xx=woman, xy=man, so i dread to think what you call people whose chromosome makeup does not fall into these neat two boxes.

Sitting here having cramps as I'm watching this and it's making me feel so much better. I am someone who has cramps that are quite literally the same pain as I felt during childbirth so I'm LOVING watching people who don't experience this have to feel a fraction of what I feel right now. Too bad when women tried wearing the period Simulator they said it was excruciating and much worse than having your period. That thing was designed to make topical pain mimic internal pain and it doesn't work properly lol.
Same. It literally feels like contractions, my whole body bursts into sweats on the worst days. They forgot to mention that we are expected to fiction normally while we feel like we are dying on the inside.
I had cramps so bad I was curled up in a ball. They hurt so bad. Seeing the guys going thru this helps them understand.

@@VineyardGHS everyone experiences pain differently... same for period pain and it is hard to mimic all the ways our bodies are different. Believe it or not this is rather close to the discomfort lvl but will never hit all the places some women have pain specially those with endo.
I feel like there needs to be a new challenge for these. Something like "go do customer service for 8 hours with a period pain simulator that someone else controls and changes the level at random."
Burst out laughing at Level 13 when they cut from Darren speaking eloquently despite the pain over to Sean, who lost his ability to form a coherent sentence around level 5! :-D

Each time these period pain simulator videos came out, the 1st one I was on my period and the day before the video came out I was in the grocery store and had such a horrific cramp I keeled over a bit, and with this video I am a week away from it and already feeling it 😂
That might have been why you were so sensitive already. I notice I’m much more sensitive even a day or two before my period.

George had some insightful comments that took me back to my max pain days -- 1) Can't even lie on a bed in this kind of pain (yep, hence the writhing around). 2) Going to the bathroom would bring relief -- yes, you do anything you think will help even a little! I used to take off my pants... any pressure relieved brings an iota of hope. (P.S. I thought Darren wasn't hooked up right until I remembered that he's the one whose STOMACH WAS JUMPING.)

I don't have Endo, but I do have incredibly painful cramps (I've had two kids and my period cramps are the same as my contractions during childbirth) and I'm enjoy the catharsis right along with ya! ❤❤❤
I feel your pain, I had endo until I had surgery. Removed endo from both my ovaries and towards my backside. Had a medical menopause afterwards for 6 months and it cured me.

I've got stage 1 endometriosis. I honestly don't know how people with stage 2-4 even survive. I'm part of an online support group for people with endo, and the amount of people who report being on the bathroom floor SCREAMING in pain. I seriously don't know how doctors live with themselves since so many brush off endometriosis as "no big deal" or "normal period pain".
We really need more educated/empathetic doctors, affordable/accessible specialists, and a metric shit-ton more treatment options. I pray one day they finally find a cure for this shit.
I bled 3 weeks at time. Emergency blood transfusions. 8 major ops to remove cysts snd adhesions over 18 years. And apparently we are the weaker sex

this is a fun series! i hope there is a period pain simulator 3. i can understand the women not wanting to experience more pain when they already deal with it monthly, anyway. but, i was hoping one of them would try for 20. i'm a little disappointed in their lack of curiosity. however, if i was in their shoes.....i would have done EXACTLY the same thing. i'm still a BIG fan of all three of them.
darren was impressive! his voice was calm......but, you could see the pain in his eyes. yet, he went all the way without complaint. the more i see of him, the more i admire his capabilities in several areas. he is a standout among the try men!
george was the big surprise. he didn't strike me as being particularly good at handling pain. yet, even though he was HURTING at five......he had the courage to go all the way to 20. he handled it better than his buddy dermot did. i'm sure he will remind dermot of that on several occasions. five men have made it to 20, so far. each handled it differently. i have MUCH respect for all 5 of them. i would love to try this someday.....but, i'm sure i would never see 20.

When I think back on all the things I did while on a period with heavy flow and extreme pain, I am confused at how I manage it. 3 years back I got a procedure done and finally no more periods for me. And I hated the period-poops. My mom never had any pain or heavy flow, so she never knew how to deal with me when I was younger. And the period-poop, she could not imagine that. Although it was amazing and funy to watch, it is also still amazing how many women are dealing with all of it and do their things.
Same I was the unlucky girl in the family. Me and my granny and aunt get the bad cramps but my sisters and mother. Barely any discomfort. They thought I was faking. To be fair I was a monster on my period. So I can see why. But no meds were ever given I had to sneak them in the morning and couldn’t take too many otherwise they’d notice. No breaks even if I was on the floor dying. Just bad luck I guess.
I remember when my daughter started having her period. That is when I realized the limits of a father's superpowers.😢😅😢😅

Knowing just how visibly upset my husband gets when his girls ( myself included ) get upset and there’s just nothing he can do for an instant fix. Sometimes us girls just need to be sad for a short while. - he really doesn’t like it. He lets us be, but I know it bothers him greatly.(despite me reassuring him many times over the years)

As someone who's period is generally AT LEAST a 20 (I've tried a tens machine with 20 levels all the way to the top to get a proper comparison), I love that you're doing this. It's educational and super helpful for people's understanding, but also incredibly entertaining as I sit here rocking in agony during my own period.
1-5 is like my pre-period pain, it usually starts like 2-4 days before. My mood starts to change, sometimes there's diarrhea or constipation, backaches, I also get real lethargic. 6-10 is probably like my 2nd- last day but 10-15 would be the 1st day bc the first actual day of my period is always the worse. Aside from the cramps, bleeding, and shitty mood I usually have back pain and bloating and I'm... idk hypersensitive so I don't like having things touching my skin.
I’ve gone through PT a few times and got TENS therapy each time. Basically they slowly turn it up until it is uncomfortable, then back a touch. I don’t know numbers, but as the sessions went, I went higher each time. At the right levels you get a massage feeling from it. Not as good as an actual massage, but it can be pretty nice.
Edit: I should wait until the end to comment. Yes, “10 Things I hate About You” is really good. My wife and I really like that movie. It is one of the best adaptations of “The Taming of the Shrew”.
My experience with TENS is that placement can change the degree of pain dramatically.
Darren is a trooper. Respect. George did also great. Sean took about as much as he could take I believe. So well done. Slightly disappointed in the girls but can't really blame them, because they have the real thing each month for decades. A dear friend of mine is literally incapable of doing anything for 1/2 days each month. It's no joke.

When I was much younger, my period pain was horrendous and I’d be curled up in bed with the heating pad and chocolates. Then during college, I barely had any pain at all. Now the cramps are horrendous again. I have PCOS, so my pain is higher than normal. Probably doesn’t help that I’m a complete wimp when it comes to my pain tolerance..

Its because this machine doesn't accurately simulate period pain lol it's essentially just the same muscle working electric machine that has existed for decades just turned up to a higher level.

You all did very well, now keep the pain going for a week 24 hours a day, doing your job, running to the store, dealing with children, everything you are expected to do for a week with that pain including sleeping.

sometimes you just gotta do the labour breathing excercises to ride through the pain, and unintentially give yourself blister burns from a thermonuclear hot water bottle to distract from the cramps
With the one I tried, 20 compared to a 4 on my Personal pain scale, my Bad periods cramps are around 9 which has me fainting

Well obviously they did. There's no reason for them to push themselves when they already have to put up with that every month.
As pointed out below/above about the ladies, ladies are smarter than us men. Men just want to prove themselves as better mates, the more pain we can take the better we may look. Normally it just makes us look like a fool.

I'm not sure that the TENS machine is quite right as a "period pain simulator", because the discomfort is so much DEEPER than on the surface. But it gives an idea...
IT does Not really compare, I tried IT, but you could give an Approximation, I Just whished they asked the women which Level gives them a similar pain to their Periode . . . .for me 20 compared to about a 4 on my Personal pain scale with 9 being crams so Bad I faint from them

You know what I've always found weird about these videos? I have 3 herniated disks in my lower back, and when it's really painful, my TENS unit is my favorite way to help with back pain. It makes it so I can walk and function again. 😂
it just shows how so many people have so many different varieties of levels taking, tasting & tolerating but as in reacting and receiving good ol' “PAIN”
I have severe Endometriosys, my blood pressure would bottom out due to tearing of my euterious and internal bleeding. Unimagineable pain, I wouldn't wish on anyone.
