"And when I do die / I want them to cremate my body / Metal almost always survives the fire / So when I become ash / They will sweep me up to a jingle of lip rings / Like I haven't really died / Just instead become a wind chime."
The second I saw the title of this poem, I knew I was going to like it. "You ask me if I hate myself like its something I should be ashamed of and you know some days I'm not sure what healing looks like... But I know I'm getting better because I hate you more than I hate me" might be my new favorite line in a poem because I've had people ask me that after my life experiences and sometimes I'm not sure if I'm ashamed or not and I'm not always certain on whether I hate myself.
What a beautiful beautiful human. It breaks my heart that ppl like the women in the goodwill store shame people for who they are with “Jesus” being the reason for the hatred. That’s not the Jesus I know. The Jesus I know sees all of her beautiful piercings + her hurting heart + says “I love you so much, and there is nothing in all of this world that could make me love you less.” Jesus isn’t hatred, Jesus is love and anyone that tells you different doesn’t know who Jesus is.
Hiya luv! I can see that this comment comes from a place of good intentions, and I think that's really lovely. Still, I just wanted to remind you that Ollie is to be referred to as "they", rather than "she". This is because they are nonbinary. I am not religious, but I imagine that your Jesus would love them for their gender as well. Peace
Eos Holmberg oh my goodness, I wasn’t even thinking. I completely respect them in every way and I wasn’t trying to be rude. I’m actually learning + growing everyday, so thank you for that comment, I genuinely didn’t know:)
I simply loved that, Ollie. I am religious, and HATE when someone speaks their hate through "God's opinion". That woman did not like your face and used "God card" to express that. I hate when people use religion to mask their hate. No, Ollie, you should never be ashamed of yourself, because the God I believe in loves you for the fighter you are. You and everyone out there who sttrugles with they're own demons and yet have to face these stupids "god's mind readers". I do hope people Will one day see God, Godness, gods or whatever you call as it truly is: love. It is not about hate, It is not about body. No, it's about emotions, and souls and fights. Thank you for this, Ollie. You are amazing.
@@Cupcake-vj8kl Haha I have randomly told total strangers that they had amazing eyelashes (I get eyelash envy easily). So to ME it's not weird at all... but well, yeah. ;)

I have been looking forward to a new poem from Ollie! Everything they write is absolutely incredible, this one being no exception. I can't even pick a favourite line, I felt it all too deeply.
the fact that this has been released in 2019 and not like 2016 or something (like I thought why? idk why xD) makes me realize that I have only gotten into poetry slams and poetry in 2019... wow... didnt thought it was only a year. I watch this on such a regular basis I can speak with them... I live for this
Hey Sweetie I can see that you only meant well with your comment and I find that wonderful. But I just wanted to remind you that Ollie is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. I send you much love
Ollie is my inspiration. I look forward to every poem they put out and every word they speak that should mean something. They're an amazing person and I love that they're getting so much love. Ollie deserves all the love in the world, in my opinion. I can relate to most everything they say and I'm proud to call myself transgender b/c of how much Ollie -and many others- have inspired me. Thank you for existing, Ollie. You truly are an amazing human being.
Ollie - you are not the only one 🤖 this is not your problem. Their hate will consum them. Feel sorry for them 😬 you are the champion and you are beautiful - love you so much 🤖
Solan Phillips i get where you’re coming from entirely, but i don’t think it’s fair to judge whether or not ollie is dysphoric. their presentation doesn’t necessarily dictate how they feel about their body, and while, yes, the comments that they made and the way they dress do raise a few questions, i don’t really think it’s our place to deny their transness without knowing them. if ollie isn’t dysphoric, then no, they’re neither trans in any capacity, nor nonbinary, but we have no way of knowing for sure whether they experience it.
Clair3Wils0n let me guess- you think you can be trans without dysphoria? You believe in he/him lesbians? You think that there are more than three genders?
@@solan4270 how come you think you're the expert on Ollie's transness? first of all they clearly experience dysphoria, they made poems about this on this channel, secondly how they represent doesn't equal their identity. let people live. also saying you need disphoria to be trans is gatekeeping. if someone's GNC or enby, what are they supposed to be dysphoric about, when there's no "non binary bodies" in a binary society? their bodies are non binary bodies
I think you need to be educated on poetry. Poetry is about telling a story - telling your story. There are countless of poems like this since the beginning of time. If you don't like it, you can move on, instead of attempting to dictate what poetry can and cannot be.
I just feel like if it can be classified as shallow, theatrical & loud complaining then it’s really not of quality. Like okay maybe it’s a “poem” but it SOUNDS like a text conversation between some 14 year olds.
I dont agree with you but just want to say I support you sharing your opinion as to why you don't like this piece (or type of poetry in general). Criticism, good and bad, is valid. You surely aren't the only person who feels this way about it, it does have some dislikes. Anyway, stay civil everyone.
